Star Citizen is an open development, crowd funded project from Cloud Imperium. Consisting of 2 games, Squadron 42 a single player, story driven campaign putting you in the middle of the Vanduul attacks as an up and coming UEE Navy pilot, and Star Citizen, a highly detailed
first person MMO set within a persistent universe where there are no limits. This includes, space, and ground aspects, massive spaceships with full interiors and interactions, a full dynamic economy which reacts to the players actions allowing for anything you can imagine.
It is all being built on the StarEngine (a modified version of Amazon's Lumberyard Engine).
Please bare in mind that this is heavily WIP and in an alpha state in which much of the foundational tech to make it a reality is still being developed. Both games do not have set release dates yet but you can play the alpha build for the PU MMO which makes consistent progress
with quarterly patch releases throughout the year.
I am an independent content creator and a fan of the game, I am not paid by Cloud Imperium however I do accept ships from them to giveaway to my community but this will by no means influence my opinion or what I say and believe about the project.
#starcitizen #supermacbrother #squadron42
I jumped in this morning and log was instant, inventory was much quicker too. Definitely based on player numbers
IT IS NOT LIVE, GET IT PEOPLE ITS A PREVIEW CHANNEL WITH PROGRESS CRRY OVER IF NO EPLOIT FUCKS ECONOMY!
Wut?
reported
how is this still an issue lol
@@Cpt_sWEEDish live and preview is the same thing. ITs jsut a way they can release crap and tell us its only a preview lol
I played this morning and had a perfect experience. 30 server FPS the entire time and for the first time average client FPS of 100+.
Hot fix or the preview one?
@varietynews3512 preview
@SpacePorridge thank you. I'm trying hot fix now as preview was broken for me, could not get landing permission, fell through the floor too. Shame as for the first time in years I was enjoying the game again.
Somehow i doubt it was as perfect as you say. Tell the truth come on. There are issues. You’ve might just have more tolerance for them than others
@@MrGatz I had the same experience 30 fpss server only one bug : A ship with infinite shield but I shooted him with a machine gun :)
This patch finally made me play the game for more than 30 minutes. The stability made me make the leap and a single emergent gameplay moment made me in love with the game, after I chased down a destroyed NPC ship on Ita surface, in order to loot the dead bounty, I found a huge shipwreck with mines and loot inside. Genuinely felt like one of the most immersive gaming moments I ever had. So excited to see how the game keeps growing, so eager for the moment base building geta added in and I can make myself a cozy home in Bloom, in the middle of nowhere
The stability really makes such a difference, it feels like a different game. I did a bunker mission and accidentally got a bit too close without my shields on and 2 of my wings got blown off so I basically had to make a crash landing. I then got out about 500m away from the bunker and made my way over. Once I got there the NPCs were actually working super well it was crazy. The whole time I had no lag or desync and my fps didn't go under 60, it felt like a real game.
Yes, i was surprise that run so smooth besides some Bug.
Yeah when it works well, man it is like being in a movie. Warping to a plant is incredible.
The fact we can now see lots of people flying about I find fantastic, Feels more like a living universe.
I think I spent at least 30 minutes around A18 just buzzing people as they came and went. It was pretty awesome.
I like the Pyro jump station view on the wormhole from loby
The fact that players are playing escort services to and from the Pyro stations is peak immersion of you ask me
Hear that, will make a great game loop.
So when you start with 20k auec how much do you pay those escorts??
yeah, I mean after 13 years and three quarters of a billion dollars they have finally managed to bring back what people had 21 years ago when playing freelancer,
wooo, I'll fetch the bunting. -.-
@@Nine-Signs You'll get over it, thats a boy, suck it up
I played for six hours last night but stayed in Stanton. Chat was full of complaints about Pyro. I made a million credits with only minor bugs. I will try Pyro on Monday.
LOL yep same here.....chat was like a transcript of Yoda's head after the Death Star was demostrated.
What were you doing for money? Only had an hour to play last night and scraped together 50k from a cargo mission amidst numerous bugs. Want to get a little buffer before I head to pyro.
Yeah frankly some servers were more unstable, mine was ok too
@@301jrod I started with hauling missions mixed with commodities trading. Hauling missions paid 50-75k and other trades were around 100k. 10 sorties total.
I had the same thoughts about Pyro.
@@301jrod im at 1.2mil now. first i did like 400k worth of missions. but then start problems with hauling. so i rent prospector and mostly done that now. i would make way more if i refine too. but i don't think it's too wise atm bc if update drop they tend to disappear. so it's best just sell everything.but yeah if you don't have salvage ship, do mining when things don't work so you least have some method to earn money.
It's a tiny detail, but seeing moving clouds with 4.0 in pyro will bring out even more beautiful cinematics ❤
Love your channel KungLi 👍
I am most excited for server meshing. Played last night and passed by player after player at Seraphim Station. It’s finally starting to feel like an MMO and I love it!
I gave 4.0 a go last night. Took about half an hour to get in. Had instancing issues with the hangar where I could see another player. Eventually managed to get my ship onto the pad, requested take-off which was approved. The hangar doors opened, but also didn't open. I flew out through the "closed" hangar door then respawned back in the spaceport. Back to a terminal only to find that my ship had been impounded for no apparent reason and that I had to pay 5000aUEC to get it back - which when you only have 20000aUEC to begin with is a massive chunk of money to pay for something that was not my fault. So I gave up and logged out again.
Maybe in 2030, when theres a beta, you can leave a station without problems, but only maybe.
Honestly, I first got into SC like a year ago and I loaded up, grabbed some stuff, struggled to leave my hangar, pulled it off, flew over the "trespassing area" on lorville, panicked, got my ship impounded. I just took my time and rolled with the punches cause I really wanted to play. So far, it's been worth ir
I’ve heard the clean up has been extremely aggressive causing ships to be impounded without reason.
This happened to me , but after changing servers it was fine
You'll probably be fine, they fixed a lot last night. Several of my friends and I got on and had the same experience, and then we moved servers and after a couple hours the devs had put up some fixes on the server side it seemed
What I'm excited for from 4.0 and have been waiting for for 12y is the density of players, and NPCs, I got rinced everytime by the AI, and I've met players at every location in 4.0 so far, the future is looking good
PSA: Do not go to Klescher. Don't give the game an excuse to put you there. Once in, there is no way out, even if you complete your sentence/merits. Several of my friends are stuck and Character Repair does not help either. Just be careful.
Thanks for explaining the difference between 4.0 and Hotfix 4.0 What confused me was both choices have the same patch number, namely 4.0.0-live-9470730
Apart from that I am loving 4.0 what a great suprise to log straight into my hanger.
Thanks for another great summary Mac
I’m honestly just really happy about the full wipe and finally feeling like there’s a reason to log on everyday and grind rep! While a lot of the bugs in the preview build can be frustrating, the level of stability that I am experiencing has me excited for the future of Star Citizen o7
I want to do missions but had a horrible experience. I will have to wait.
Its amazing how 10 servers still isn’t adequately handling the game. Im excited to see how many servers each shard will require in the near future to get standard triple-a framerates and whatnot.
After many weeks testing 4.0 builds, I can certainly attest to the fact that the 4.0_preview patch is the best its ever been. Of course the usual teething problems, as expected, but still, jankiness or not, nothing like to the 3.18 levels, for those that remember that colossal disaster of a patch.
Easily one of the best SC/SQ42 channels on YT. Keep up.
The hotfix is borked, stay on 4.0_Preview, the Hotfix, has QT messed up even more, and sends you flying in opposite direction when jumping.
into stanton star every time xd
I needed this information, thanks 🫡🚀
They coded this in to punish weaklings who set their spawn in Stanton lol
@@fuglong I purposely set my spawn in Stanton since I've seen Pyro and wanted to focus on making aUEC and I had a great time while everyone in Pyro cried out like a planet of voices in Yoda's head
@warren3174 to be fair I did the same, however I did take a trip today to Pyro, and it was very lonely trip. Haven't seen a single living soul in there. However Stanton...people are running like cockroaches everywhere , even stealing your hangar landing pad as there is always a que to dock or undock lol.
Workaround for the offset issue, if you are 200-900km away from a LEO station: Jump to a moon first, than back to the LEO station.
For example: Area18 > QT to Wala (you can cancel the QT) > QT to Baijini Point > 20km ...and you're happy!
doesnt always work...
The thing I'm most excited for in 4.0 is simply getting to use my cutlass black. (I'm relatively new and haven't had much chance to fly it yet.)😊
Of all my ships over the years my Cutlas Black has the most milage of them all because its so versatile and easy to use.
Honestly, despite its issues. In my opinion, the server meshing update works so well, haven't had a 30k and forced back to main menu after several hours.
i black screened just 10 min ago... while in combat... so what were u saying ?
@@kevinpittman2517 spoke too soon?
@@kevinpittman2517 that could be a pc issue. I have quite a nice build and my friends who don't typically have a ton of issues. it's kinda frustrating when that's the reason for the different issues and experiences but I've noticed most problems between me and my friends come down to our rig's performance.
@@kevinpittman2517 He's saying he had a better experience than you did. I also had the best fun I've had in a decade. I think the issues are finally just volume which CIG hasn't had in years. LOL I doubt any of us will be enjoying Pyro over the holidays. Even with server meshing CIG can't handle this many people logging in.
@@kevinpittman2517 Last night I black screened every time I tried to drink something...was kind of annoying until I got out a ship with a med bed on it.
Ryan, if u want a separate build, just copy your 4.0_preview folder then rename that one to hotfix, then u can have 2 builds and only need a small download
I'm probably most excited with more players being able to play in one instance and forming their own play style extending on the medic, bounty hunter gameplay
I had 3 non game breaking issues, rest was flawless: the QT marker bug, problems storing one of my ships, and after a server recovery mission markers were gone (but the missions very much active and working).
All in Stanton. But it was butter smooth, plenty of players around, NPCs completely functional, missions working. I really enjoyed my time.
Felt great to have a server crash right before I would arrive at my destination for a cargo mission, and after recovery ATC worked, the mission was on, and I could complete my contract.
The wipe that comes with 4.0 is what I'm mainly looking forward to in a new system
I played the hotfix last night and was experiencing the bug where if you take a drink you get disconnected from the shard as of blacking out from force until you quit the game and restart. Fortunately I can still recover hydration and hunger meters via med beds. Hopefully that bug will be fixed soon. But that was the only real big I experienced as I had no issues with my hangar. Did have the quantum travel bug and some inventory delays.
I don't how mining works for you guys today, but yesterday in aaron halo all of the rocks were not scannable, they weren't there physically...
I went in about 4 hours after the preview patch dropped and was in the Aaron halo salvaging panels and all I had to do was ping a scan and they all lit up like a xmas tree and if I pointed at them they showed me the scan numbers for that object immediately.
It's been the best performance I've had in Star Citizen. Only the hangar streaming bug was an issue so far. Clean 60+ fps throughout
Can't wait to try it out. Hopefully I'll get time tonight. Love the channel, man. Can't wait to see the off grid continue.
Looking forward to trying this out next week, can't wait to build a salvage empire! Thanks for the video.
I had a little time to play this morning (US time) and have breifly logged into 4.0 twice so far to fly from location to location and then just some random looting around locations. So far performance has been pretty good outside of some odd hangar door animation behavior but i could still enter and exit so tolerable. So far i am enjoying it and hope when I have time to login for longer my experience is the same. Big fan of your content, appreciate you and the work you do keeping us informed and entertained!
I experienced the same login problems then, once in, I had problems with the inventory and ship selection screens going black.
HOTFIX version let me get to Pyro for the first time...then in Pyro every Qt jump tried to take us to the star.
I am so glad the servers are now more stable. There's still a lot of issues, but it feels so much more smooth than before.
Most excited for that photo cloud option, looks so stunning and immersive!
Thanks for the update on this, Mac! REALLY chomping at the bit to get into Preview/Hotfix! Can't wait to make my first jump!
I'm looking forward to real persistence across both systems! Exploring how to make a life in 4.0 puts a fresh new spin on the whole experience
The Verse certainly feels more alive when visiting POIs. I'm looking forward to more of this!
Definitely most excited to bump into more players while going about content.
Im excited for the fresh start. Its a nice chance to see how progress with missions will turn out.
I am all in visuals. Roaming clouds of Pyro looked really good. If I get game package I will go right away to check those clouds.
Definitely based on player count. The 180 flip quantum issues have been my biggest problem.
Thanks for all of the content this year Mac!
I am so happy to see people just... everywhere. Every time I land ANYWHERE, every time I take off-- someone else is leaving, coming, crashing-- it's beautiful.
For 4.0. I was most excited for server meshing. Now I'm excited for a clean inventory.
Definitely looking forward to more contested zones. A friend and I decided to test one last night, and first try managed to explore our way all the way to the vault room in Checkpoint, kill 6-7 players to defend it, and made out with 2 comp boards and hundreds of thousands of UEC in ship components + drugs. Can’t wait to finish getting the ship reward!
Playing right after the patch dropped morning EU was an amazing experience. Excited to play more over the holidays if it's stable enough.
I'm most excited for server meshing! They've been talking about it for so long I can't wait to see it implemented at last!
Appreciate the updates Mac, also super looking forward to playing 4.0 over holidays
I am loving the increased population. Everywhere I went I came across others exploring and having fun. The game truly feels alive.
Thank you for the update!
Thanks for the update. Looking forward to just being able to log in and enjoy the game in 4.0. Just to log in and have a relatively stable game session.
Love your videos Mac! Most excited for the jump point traversal and exploring the new planets in the Pyro system!
I am just happy we are here!
I most excited for smooth server performance. Being able to engage in the gameplay loops available in a consistent way is going to be so much nicer.
I just can't wait to explore all of Pyro
i'M JUST EXCITED ABOUT GETTING DECENT FRAMERATES!!!! I've noticed much less desync in combat and smoother transitions between locations. Thanks for the great content! I've been a watcher for a long time but I just became a subscriber!
I played last night had almost no issues, there is a strange bug if you expand an item inside the inventory it makes the entire inventory disappear but is fixable with a relog
The hotfix is a hot mess. In wanting to fix the QT targeting, they completely destroyed it. Now when you try to QT anywhere, it will take you somewhere random with no marker whatsoever. My mind is blown. I thought it was just me, but when I reverted to the preview version, people in global chat kept having the same problem, so, it's not just me.
CIG's janitor must have made the HOTFIX
Everything really improved overnight! Really looking forward to finally having some persistence again!
My first time with Star Citizen, hope it's a good moment to get to know the game.
I'm excited to see the packed environment of players together once server meshing hits full speed. When more player events like the Daymar Rally can be realized.
Just got off 4.0 preview and was a flawless experience doing missions and jump points where on point
What missions those pathetic 4 ?
Getting pumped to play this over the holidays!
Im most looking forward to more player interactions with the new server pop and what different gameplay that will bring along with the new missions. Keep up the great content
Great video. I’m excited for the new gameplay in Pyro. Let’s hope for the best.
Thanks for the update . Exploing pyro is on my wishlist this holiday season. Hope they can still fix a few things before they leave office .
Going through the wormhole is fantastic
Im excited to explore the new system and seeing more players, making the verse seem more alive!
I'm excited for how server meshing will help things be a lot smoother, including combat (hopefully!)
I am so excited for server stability and meshing. I have played on a low pop server once before and it was an amazing challenge.
Did my first pyro jump today, server was lagging on hurston but smooth in space and damn was the jump through the hole to pyro amazing, a wonderful experience without stutters or lag just a great immersive sequence
in the process of raising the in-game funds to start trading cargo between the systems. I believe having the system transition as part of the hauling loop adds an awesome level of immersion.
Pyro, server meshing, and the music are what I like the most about 4.0
I played 4.0 Preview for a couple of hours this morning and it went Ok but there were some annoying things such as the VLM not working and no missions at all showing up in the mobiglass. Think I'll give it a couple of days before hopping back in.
Been smooth for me aside from one session last night. In any case much better than pre-server meshing. Today has been awesome
They fixed an absolute butt ton of issues through the ptu cycle and pushed it to live to fix the ones they need a massive player base to find (and some of the ones that didn’t get reported before), but left up 3.24 to not enforce another possible 3.18 catastrophe. The frustration doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. Yes, my ursa was bouncy and at one point acted as if it was heavy as the sun, but man was the rest of that 4 hour session absolutely magnificent. It felt like I was playing an actual game. Looking forward to see this build get optimized.
Ive personally had zero issues. Servers running butter for me, no bugs in 8 hours ish. This was an amazing release in my opinion. I havent made my first jump, Im waiting for friends to be able to get in to make our first leap together, to make it feel like a real end to a chapter. Thank you for all that you do Mac, even the sad news you make enjoyable to hear...well maybe not enjoyable but definitely more palatable
Extremely excited for just being able to log in in my hangar an not having to run for half an hour lol
4.0 has been such a smooth experience so far for me. Server meshing has been such a big QOL that was sorely needed for many years. Has legit made me play consistently since 4.0 release as I'm enjoying Star Citizen way more now.
Can wait to fly my newly bought Cutlass Black from Orison to Pyro in live.
Great video! Can't wait to explore the whole system!
Very excited to see what performance changes server meshing brings.
في المستقبل البعيد وبفضل التكنولوجيا المتقدمة سوف يتساوى الخيال مع الواقع ويمتلك الإنسان قوى الآلهة ليحول الكون والأكوان المتعددة إلى جنة خالدة ❤
Just got my new pc. Hopefully, I will get it set up today and check out 4.0.
I had a rough time last night. Was doing the starter mercenary and bounty missions and just got screwed by the game constantly. I'm excited to see the stability of the game get to a point where I can actually just play it.
Edit: Also forgot that I spent most of the day yesterday being completely unable to play due to a bug the night before, which left my character in the world and served me an infinite loading screen every time I attempted to login. Character reset only affected 3.24.3 character.
had problems with markers but after bedlogging out/in they started working again
I appreciate having more player in the verse, I'm limping along with Hauling missions, I'm ready to start in mining. Thanks for the great work, your content is top notch.
What I'm most looking forward in SC is being able to log in without worry of bugs. Hopefully they get these new bugs ironed out before Christmas break.
I can't WAIT to run cargo between the 2 systems. SO EXCITED!
The music when doing the jump to pyro was fantastic I can't wait to explore more of it
When downloading the patch, copy and rename your 4.0_preview folder as whatever is shown in the launcher, and then click the install button. Doing a local copy first drastically reduces the number of files you need to download.
The 4.0 live preview has been working amazingly for me from a performance standpoint. There has still been some bugs. Mostly with audio
I am definitely looking forward to what server meshing will open up
No the hell it isn't? This is some crazy clickbait. I've been getting 30 server FPS consistently with minimal bugs apart from falling through a planet once.
I haven't been able to loot anything more than 15 minutes before inventory bugs out. Missions doesn't work, doesn't give you markers half the time, hostile markers for party members with no reason. PDCs firing at friendly targets, no reason. Quantum still doesn't work, either spins you around, or almost everything is invalid. It's stable I agree and it feels snappy, but it's riddled with bugs! Gravity on moons (at least in Stanton) makes your ships sometimes just float away from you, even landed without engines on. LOTs of issues, but servers are behaving really well!
I spent 1 hour just to login to the server after character creation. Followed by buggy mess experience. Hangar and elevator doors opening yet remaning closed. Falling through the floor etc.
Just because you had a decent experience... your experience might differ greatly from others. I have played every EPTU patch together with some friends. Yesterday we hopped from server to server, trying to get out of new babbage, the old hangar issues (like the ones in the first eptu patch) theyre back, overlapping persistent hangars with others. We loaded up a polaris, with all the supplies, multiple vehicles, a vulture, ready to jump to pyro. Upon leaving the hangar suddenly got stuck in an overlapping hangar door (initially invisible to us). Transactions in shops can sometimes take over 5 minutes each as the RMQ is very much choking. So yes, it is a mess, compared to the last eptu patch. The RMQ cant handle the influx of messages from all the new players.
Cant open inventories, falling throught all floors, walking throught terrain, persistant hangers arent persistant, qt goes to the wrong location, elevantors when they do work dont know where anything is and just drops you random floors, cant pick up items from freight elevators..... thats all for a 2 hour play session.... his title is legit
I have the same great experience. Works like a charm and it never felt so buttery smooth
Preview has been working fine for me. Safe flying all!
Having AI respond and actually be challenging is pretty nice!
I'm most excited for traveling to Pyro in my Aurora LX, because way back when CIG offered the first CCU to update your Aurora to either a luxury model with leather seats and a built-in jump drive or a militia model with a bit more armor and more fire power. I opted for the LX because I wanted the built-in jump drive.
I know jump drives aren't actually required at this time but I'm still happy about it
I'm excited about the stability. I hope you all have a great holiday season. Good luck everyone on the giveaway!
In 4.0 I’m looking forward just to seeing some new environments and exploring them
Great job as always Ryan! So much to look forward to in 4.0, TBH I was most excited about having a more polished, playable user experience. We don’t have it yet, but I still BELIEVE it can happen! Cheers & keep up the great work
