Would have been good to see the glove names when you showed the chart so as to know which one to buy.

What I need to know is this, how much weight are you using in your test? One of my warehouse guys got his finger caught between two 130# class 8 brake drums, and while it didn't crush or cut his finger off, it pinched his finger like a zit, requiring several stitches, and the same thing happened to me today, save that I was wearing some leather gloves. The damage to my fingers was not nearly as severe, but still thinking if better gloves would have helped. However, a 50# weight could break a finger, how does the gloves stack up to two 130# cones of metal?

Sorry to hear about your injury, and we sincerely hope for your quick recovery! Safety is critical in environments where heavy objects, like the 130# class 8 brake drums you mentioned, are handled regularly. The protection that gloves provide varies based on their material, thickness, and design, impacting their impact resistance capabilities.
While we aren't familiar with the classifications of brake drums or the exact details of your application, thicker and more impact-resistant gloves tend to result in less severe injuries. However, there are limitations to protective gear. For example, if it requires 10,000 psi to break a bone and a glove can absorb 50% of an impact, but the force exerted is 25,000 psi, the remaining force could still cause a break.
Given the specifics of your incident and the potential for a highly impactful force, better gloves may mitigate some damage but might not fully prevent serious injuries under extreme conditions. This is where specific product recommendations and custom solutions might be necessary.
