Jardín, Colombia in 24hrs 🇨🇴🚡riding a dodgy cable car & finding the rare ‘Cock of the Rock’

It's Ged and Kelsie 🙋🏽‍♀️ we are two Aussies enjoying the wonders of South America (no longer with our travel companions Blaine & Elissa ). After some sad goodbyes, we decided to see a little more of Colombia and start being a little more money savvy. Talking to some other travellers (always a good source of inspiration) we were off to the country side, first stop Jardín.
A hectic bus ride through the mountain got us from Medellín to Jardín in about 3 hours. We immediately noticed the charm of this beautiful little town and had to see as much as we could in the 24 hours we had. Surrounded by hillside farms and stunning views, it was an easy choice to start our day with a hike - past Mirador Cristo Rey up to Cafe Jardín (much needed exercise & a great iced coffee). Once we were back in town we had to check out a special cable car that is not for the faint of heart. No hiking required for these views, and luckily it has a bar for a cheeky nerves settler before the ride back down. The afternoon was spent at Reserva Jardín de Rocas spotting the rare ‘Cock of the Rock’ bird and enjoying the peaceful setting by the river.
