Thanks for taking the time to talk about this dragline. My grandfather and namesake was one of the first operators and died in a wall collapse while operating. I just learned more about the king from my father over dinner last night. I wasn't aware of the significance of the machine until just now.
Never really noticed just how massive the king is. I grew up seeing her working in the mines. I think I might even have seen it walked from one pit to another when I was a kid back in the 80s. Thank You for bringing back memories and getting to see something from where I grew up. Great video!
Great Video! We went on a Schuylkill Vo-Tech field trip to see the King in action! We had a pic of the whole class in the bucket! I decided right then, and there, "I was going to be an Electrician" It was truly impressive starting with the 12KV power cord that feeds it, &the huge motors!

Bennettshovel mainly films draglines and he doesn't film as much as he used to. I film from all across the state at hundards of different mine sites. Thanks

Really enjoy your videos, just fantastic. Have to disagree about loading the bucket to capacity. It does no good to have a big chunk of metal if you can't load it to capacity. You might as well have a smaller lighter bucket and fill it to capacity. Easier on the machine. Also no one should be working in the swing radius because these machines can loose power and keep swinging until the swing,hoist, and drag brakes automatically come on. No one should ever be under the bucket. That is the safety factor not load capacity. Any how you do great videos that I love to watch. Best wishes.
I agree about loading the bucket. They didn't make an 80 yard bucket to hold 40 yards. Owners told the operators to fill the bucket til it spills over and we'll make sure everyone stands back.

Not anytime soon unfortunately. This machine hasn't moved in about 10 years.
Its the same machine, just an old video. That dragline hasn't run in almost 10yrs
