    Speaking of size. MSR sell a one person tent with fly that only is as wide as your fly. It's called a Hubba. With the addition of your bag of choice and one of the down filled blow up mattress available it does not take up any more space then your present setup. Have used it in snow and rain up in the Rockies. A separate ground cover is also available but not necessary.

    Interesting information. I watched your Permethrin video and found sawyer makes picaridin repellent. I use it all the time in Northern Minnesota and have never had such luck. So thank you for that information. And it's safer than Deet spray. I Love these Alaska videos.

    Interesting to see your camping setup for Alaska Shawn, quite a bit different to an Australian camping setup.
    Have you uploaded the video of the bear trying to get into your food sack in the tree?
    That would be very interesting.

    I love the bee free filter. We do off-trail hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Lots of hiking up rugged creeks. The bee free is perfect for it. Half our group that uses the bf have had theirs tear up after a couple months, but a few of us havent had any trouble and they've lasted a very long time.

    I love the OR Advanced Goretex bivy. I do however wish it was a side entry rather than entering through the front. Was wondering if you had the same thoughts with it? Great video. I do ultralight backpacking as in Thru-hiking long distance trails such as AT PCT etc. So my gear varies a bit but your set up is great also for sure. Have to use what works for what it is you do. Thanks again James.

      @MySelfReliance 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree, I wish it had a side zipper, but I wonder if that would compromise the water repellency.

    • @paulatwood9794
      @paulatwood9794 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have coated the zipper with paraffin and a stitched flap over the top of that.

    • @SilentWolf333

      @@MySelfReliance That is true it might being as how it would need a longer zipper down the side. Still love it anyways and will continue using it.

    Excellent as usual. Having made my own amateur videos of my motorbike rides and ski holidays over the years, I really appreciate the considerable efforts you make. The endless setting up of the camera, backtracking to make your movements normal and fluid then returning to pick up the camera. Sorry to hear about the camera theft, I assume you used the 1dx for video a fair bit. One thing I noticed in some scenes is the way the SLR’s focus sometimes hunts a bit and one part of the scene is out of focus.
    Have you considered using a dedicated small video camera? I have been using a Panasonic 920M for a while and it is superb. The new cameras are now 4K but the memory usage is enormous and not worth it. 1920 x 1080 is fine. Have you thought of making a “behind the scenes” video explaining all you camera techniques and the efforts required to make and improve videos? As always, looking forward to the next video
