I waited in line for 1.5 hours and I didn't have to give the guy the money until they were legit checked. He waited in line with me the entire 1.5 hours with me haha. I felt bad, but I spent $3,000 with him...

The shape and the a stripe in the toe box also gave it away. They should have legit checkers walking around checking if people are trying to sell fake shoes, especially in the pits.
there just aren't enough legit checkers around unfortunately because most people who attend these events are either buying or selling and dont go just to legit check shoes but I think whoever organises these events should hire legit checkers who like you said walk around to stop fakes being sold.

I think the best way to secure that every pair is legit, is to have as a rule, that every transaction you make, you have to take a photo with the pair and the person who sold it to you, so in the case that it turns to be fake, you have evidence of who was and what pair it was, and in case you don't find the guy who sold the feik pair, you already have the face and he can be banned
