I found it started to get predictable in terms of the writing. The first two seasons are fantastic but when you get into Season 3 and Season 4 (I never watched 5 or 6 as I had burn out and needed to stop lol) the drama aspects really ramp up and it becomes predictable. Ex: Two of the guys get into an argument/close to fisticuffs, they go on an Operation and something happens to one of the two team guys who were in a dispute, they're rescued and then they make up. It's a rinse and repeat trope that is reused way too much in later seasons. The action/tactics never change but the writing just becomes predictable for the most part.
@@LurchyScott yeah, it’s like they throw names in a hat in the writers room, pick two out and that episode those two have beef then solving it the next episode rinse repeat.
@@LurchyScott yeah I feel like that's just par for the course of a TV series that doesn't have a long-form plotline to follow. though I did enjoy the growing focus on PTS and TBI.
+1 on this, the more "at home" plot happens during the pandemic time. Then once it hits paramount plus, it gets darker but still gets more realistic too. Awesome show and I hope they do a spin off. Sad to see it end at this upcoming 7th season
Hey side note, commander acorn from FL. The cop that mag dumped his unit because an acorn dropped on it was somehow tied in with SF. Angry Cop did a video on it and it's a little cloudy if he was an actual SF officer or an officer attached to SF.
Just a fyi to everyone, being in a tier 2 unit doesn't mean you're good at QCB or shooting, it just means you passed a selection. Theres many guys here in 3/75 who are sloppy with their footwork and dont know much about movement/ tactics.
Absolutely love the breakdowns of this show from you guys. Having been a tier one operator on the PS3, PS4, PS5, and having been op-con to the Xbox for a bit, I’m uniquely qualified to enjoy your explanations of what’s going on. Seriously though, your content is always top notch but The Unit and SEAL Team breakdowns are turning into my favorite stuff. The insights from you boys makes me wanna go back and rewatch all these episodes. Thanks fellas. Good shit.
i think the show takes a turn for the better, more realism, more attention to detail as it goes on, cast improves a lot IMO, although it gets a little more home life focused but i still like it
Not going to lie, having an action show where the enemies use solid tactics would be an interesting watch. Maybe y'all *should* try to be the bad guys on an episode
Personally, I think they balance the home stuff pretty well. I’ve always had the impression that Tyler and whoever else makes this show wants to show what operators really go thru, not just on missions but their lives in general. The Brett Swan stuff, the homeless vet Ray’s family tries to help and the balancing act of being a husband/father/warfighter is all done really well.
Different world, flew F-16s. but ya we had those generals as well. In Korea, was at one meeting where one Lt Colonel said something silly along these same lines, and the 3 star did say “Colonel I’m not sure that’s an avenue I wan’t to pursue.” He let the captain Fighter Pilots determine the plan. Also at a FAC (JTAC) with the 101st did see General Shelton roll his eyes at some of the colonel buffoonery 😂
You noticed the episode which I consider the best of this season. I've been waiting for this for a very long time. You are the only ones who did this. Great episode👍Sorry for my poor language skills.
Love watching your content. One of the reasons the show hits as well as it does isn’t just Tyler grey, they had Scott Fox (Ex Seal) and the guy that plays Brock is a real dog handler (pepper and Cerberus are both his own dogs) But behind the scenes as well there are a lot of staff who are all veterans adding input from with storytelling etc. The change some may be taking about was the switch season 6 to paramount. If anything I think that the switch gave them the opportunity to nail down the last little bits that were missing when it was on CBS As well as the later seasons taking the time to address a lot of veteran issues as well
we just did 24 hours ops for two weeks at the motor pool and the person who had the idea we stay at the motor pool all day and all night was my good idea fairy
Another awesome review of the best SOF-themed TV show of recent memory (possibly of all time?)... And HOLY SHXT... if you guys made it onto an episode... Even as extras... That'd be insane!
As a FNG here, a quick quip. A couple years ago, I joined a closed, member-only Facebook page for Harley motorcycle riders... the Admin personally kicked me off the membership rolls because the very first post I wrote was "FNG here". That admin dude blew a gasket for me writing that.
Great beard, my biggest regret is not enlisting. Got told last week I need new knees in 10 years 2 weeks after my 42 birthday. Thank you for what I could not…
A shoutout regarding films you have missed: 6 Days (2017), very detailed account of the SAS embassy raid, especially the preparations for it. And of course my native Finland's Unknown Soldier, the new version from 2017 (Also available as a 5 part series), it's classic for its personal depiction of the soldiers.
They reviewed it once and I was like, I’m check it out, I shit you not, did all 6 seasons in 10 days like a piece of shit. Lemme get that 7th season real quick. Show was legit. Sonny fucking gets me EVERY TIME.
Awesome breakdown and here’s hoping you guys get the guest spot 🎉 btw : if you’re looking for a new movie to take appart may I suggest ‘Land of bad’ ; really think you’ll run out of time before you point out all the inaccuracies 😅
I suspect the "turn" some are talking about is when some of the show time devotes to operators home lives. I guess that non stop action is the only way to go for some.
Great breakdown boys. Speaking of ridiculous PSYOPS and ‘winning hearts and minds’, why not do a Breakdown on the movie “Operation Dumbo Drop”? I know it’s not the tactical movies we usually see on this channel. But hey, it’s about Green Berets. I’m sure you boys will find a way to make the episode both hilarious and informative. The stuff we love. Give it a thought. 😉
I've watched that episode the commander who said that wasn't being an ass kisser he was being sarcastic to shut the general up and get his ass to leave because the commander is actually the commanding officer of Jason's team he just doesn't go out on missions with them
Hey FNG team Land of the Bad is a REALLY fun combat action movie about a JTAC operator with delta! Id love to see your thoughts on it here on BB! I loved it but Im no expert, though to a casual enjoyer of modern gear and tactics it appeased me!
Great show, guys. I've been wondering what you would be doing next. Bro, I just found this thing, I'm going to call it my McGuffin but it's worth $15-$20 grand. Not bad for just walking to the store & back. Found it in the ❄️ snow. My life reminds me of Fargo. That's prob not a good thing. ❤😂
From my understanding, them moving SEAL Team to Paramount Plus was because so they can get much more into PTSD and all the trauma they endure than regular cable TV that they couldn't show or talk about, at the end, just all for them to end it after 1 more season doesn't make sense to me, they could do many more seasons if they wanted, i was hoping it would keep on going, I just really love the show
Hey Sean, unrelated to the video you did today Ben, can you give more info on what the current 18x experience is like? I know you already did a video way back but perhaps maybe a perhaps maybe do interview someone that has recently went through it. I’m seriously considering joining just for that and would like some more info man. Or if there’s a video where you’ve already done that please point it out 🙏🏾
Designing the plan organically probably also increases the effectiveness of improvisation. More time to absorb and manipulate contingencies that aren't even documented.
