Thanks for the hint. Now running IC7300 + IC703 linked with both ACC connected, audio of one set on the left and the other on the right ear for stereo/diversity and a swith to add them both to mono. Works super and easy without additional hardware!

Very cool, had no idea one could link two of these radios together.

I think it might be possible to set the band edges to inhibit everything on "TX" in the receive radio. This would eliminate the need to put the receive radio in CW mode. I might try it.

For my VHF contesting station I use a JRC HF transceiver with transverters for the VHF and UHF bands. The transverters all output on Receive to a 28 MHz IF which I feed thru a 2-Way HF rated splitter to supply the 28 MHz IF Receive Signals within the transverter passband to both the main JRC HF transceiver and also to a second JRC HF receiver. I use the left and right earpieces of my headphones for the logistical/locational sound identification of the receiver on the left and the receiver on the right, with a blend pot where I mix back in around 40% of the right to the left, and 40% of the left to the right, to improve weak signal intelligibility by being able to listen with both ears - but still allowing me to know logistically/locationally which receiver is the one with the signal. I will call CQ (sometimes using my voice recorder's playback loop during slow times) on the main transceiver on "my calling frequency" and listen when I stop calling CQ to that frequency for anyone that comes back to my CQ, PLUS tuning the secondary receiver's dial across the band looking for what I might be missing by staying put on "my calling frequency". If I hear a station I need somewhere else in the band I just take a longer break between CQs and run over there with the transceiver to work that station. It works pretty well to keep making contacts during quiet times. The most important thing that I have found with splitting headphones between receivers is also having a blend control to improve intelligibility by being able to listen/copy through both ears but still be able to hear the directionally which receiver it is that is receiving the signal.

It's too late to answer, but that's the way things are on the internet. Steve thanks for the video. In the old ICOM series, to change the frequency of a receiver with respect to that of the transmitter, the dial lock of one or the other equipment is used. Did you try this?

since the remote plug is used with the ICOM PW-1 amp, if you have two IC-7300's and you select Exciter 1&2 will you have the ability to slave the second off the first. Can a 1/8" plug be daisy chained to have it connect both IC-7300's and the PW-1 on Exciter 173 KC0FLY

Very good videa, with detailed information about diversity reception. Those who like to have 2 receivers and 2 antennas, this is an option (and both receivers have full features, including the DSP functions).
The explanations are clear, an the speech speed is very good specialy for those (like me) who are not native english speakers.
    Best regards.

A simple NC relay (that triggers in series with the amplifier relay) will cut the speaker off - use an external speaker and the muting relay goes between the speaker and the radio audio output 1/8" on the back panel. Can use either the RCA or the 13 pin DIN on the back of the radio for second receiver muting.

UPDATE: Mute can be accomplished by grounding pin 3 of the ACC jack of the second IC-7300. This puts it in Transmit mode without keying it when in CW mode. Connecting pin 3 of each rig together should automatically mute the other rig.

Thanks for the thought provoking video, Steve. It was nice to hear CO8LY calling CQ. He must be one of the most active hams ... I hear him everywhere. VY 73 DE KA8SYV

Get the RX7300 RX antenna jack kit for both radios and you can insert the front end protectors on the receiving sides of the radios and be able to transmit. But I am not sure that the protectors are going to work at any power level.

Not from one antenna. You must have a switching device.

I am starting to feel uneasy about the fact I sold my 7600. I think I may have made a mistake, should have kept it until they get this SDR stuff ironed out

Another great video, as all your previous videos with the ic-7300! The ACOM 2S1 may also be better then the RTR-2 for the purpose (not sure as I have no experience with either).

I forgot to say the ACOM 2S1 is only suitabe for 1 antenna or Linear Amplifier, so it aplies only in that situation.

Doug you can get a 7300 for 999.00 each now.

A Flex 6500 will NOT do the same. Stereo Diversity with two antennas require two ADC's so you would need the $7000+ Flex 6700

And less used, as mine was. I'd get another one and link 'em WAY before I'd think of buying a 7610.
