My favorite Bill Pullman movie is "While You Were Sleeping" where he played "Jack," to Sandra Bullock's "Lucy.". And he was also Meg Ryan's fiance in "Sleepless In Seattle."
Ah, the moon landing. We were staying in a little "motel" consisting of wooden cabins in the woods. During the night of the landing, we were crowded, along with all the other guests, in a little room in the lobby of the motel-the only place with a television-and we watched the landing. I will never forget that.
They need to see the Grand Budapest Hotel. I think they are stuck on sequels and big-budget stuff, which is fine. But man, they are missing out on some thought-provoking films.

This is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIE! It came out the summer before my Senior Year of high school! “Disaster Thrillers” became my favorite genre in large part because of this movie!
I love how rapidly the situation in the beginning unfolds. "They should be entering our atmosphere in the next 25 minutes." Like, this is happening, NOW!
I was not only alive for it but being from Houston, I had several friends at NASA, and it was absolutely real! Why do you think the Russians and Chinese have not challenged it or sent their own expedition.
The radar and telemetry was all in the open and available to everyone. $25.8BILLION in 1960's money for the Apollo project alone. $257.Billon in today's money. If it was a hoax why do all those records exist? The OMB records are open for anyone to see. One has to be pretty uninformed to think men did not go to the moon.
Bill Pullman was not on Twister. That was Bill Paxton (RIP), who also played Fred Haise on Apollo 13. Bill Pullman was on Lake Placid, as Amber correctly pointed out.
I watched it (the moon landing) live in my friend's parent's family room in a basement in Evanston, IL. I was 11 years old, going on 12. Nothing was ever more real than that.
The moon landings definitely happened. You can find videos right here on TH-cam detailing why it would have been difficult to fake at the time, and why the typical criticisms of things like photos taken from the mission are misplaced.
My favourite quote about faking the moon landings is that they hired Stanley Kubrick to fake the moon landings but he was such a perfectionist that he shot it on location. 😁 Seriously though I still can't believe that some people think it's fake. I mean the Chinese recently sent back photos of the landing sites from their recent expeditions so they would have to be helping the US keep the secret which makes as much sense as Russia going along with it at the height of the cold war.
The moon landing being fake could possibly come with massively horrifying implications about the geopolitics of the cold war. Since even the communists claimed that it happened, the people with the most to gain from it being fake, it could mean that there was no cold war. That it was all made up by a global shadow government to keep people in line.
The guy from Twister is Bill Paxton (RIP). The president is played by Bill Pullman. An honest mistake that many people make. They’ve even talked about how people get them mixed up.
One of my favs, I've seen it at least 100 times. As far as the moon landing, I remember Walter Cronkite's giddiness while it was happening. He never got giddy about anything. My opinion it was real.

He fired the Secretary of Defense. But the SecDef was technically correct when he said the President can't do that. A cabinet level official can only be fired by Congress. But, if the President asks for their resignation, the Secretary will usually comply.

I'm so lucky to have been a teen in the 90's (born 1981)! We got T2 (1991), Jurassic Park (1993), Independence Day (1996), and The Matrix (1999)... not to mention Titanic (1997) that everyone got buyer's remorse yet saw it in theater twice if not more. We also got Goodfellas (1990), Tombstone (1993), Shawshank Redemption (1994), and The Sopranos (1999). It was a great decade to be a teen. Also, we didn't even have to look too far back to get flawless entertainment like Back to the Future (1985), BTTF 2 (1989), BTTF 3 (1990), Indiana Jones ROTLA (1981), Temple of Doom (1984), The Last Crusade (1989), plus the great high school comedies of the 80's.

They just don't make movies like this, anymore. A huge summer blockbuster with movie stars, but it takes its time to build characters who you grow to love and actually care about. No goofy politics or woke agenda, simply a fun story that everyone leaves feeling great from watching. This is a 4th of July rewatch every year, for me. Just pure 90's Hollywood blockbuster at its best.
No goofy politics? I mean, it’s a fun film, but there’s definitely a rah, rah, America-best cheerleading vibe. Like, iirc, even the Brits are talking about how great Americans are. That’s pretty goofy, and it is a political message. Trust the U.S. government, trust the military, etc. As Americans, we hear this stuff so much, and it’s in so many movies, it just seems normal. We’re like the proverbial fish, the last to discover water. Propaganda works best when you don’t recognize it.
LOL “woke agenda”? No summer blockbusters? Did they not make a new Planet of the Apes and Dune 2 or was that my imagination? This one’s pretty political and jingoistic if you ask me.

July 1969 my American History class was in session. Our teacher told us if we wanted, school was out for the summer,we could come to the high school to watch the moon landing. About three fourth of my class was there. And yes it was real. But I always wondered what they were looking at when they were off screen and the mic was cut for about 11 to 12 minutes. What did they see?? One of my favorites. ❤ Now you'll need to watch the sequel, Independence Day Resurgence. Lots of the same characters and actors just 20 years later.

Furthermore Chris Hemsworth (Thor) pre-MCU, played Kirk's father in the beginning of "Star Trek" (2009), and Hemsworth's brother, Liam, went on to star in the sequel to "Independence Day", "Independence Day: Resurgence".
1996 through 1998 was a big time for blockbuster movies, I worked for a company that reproduced them on VHS, talk about a lot of overtime and we were already on 12 hour shifts 4 days a week and it went to 6 days, really ramped up when Titanic came out.

Remember Kevin Costner's bride in "Dances with Wolves"? Her name was Stands With a Fist. That is the President's wife.
Mary McDonnell. She was also in Battlestar Galactica.
And ironically she played the president.
@@jughead4845So say we all!
@@jughead4845 add on the Boomer reference & it's a little spooky!
She was also in the movie Sneakers with Robert Redford.
Yes! The moon landing happened. You could watch myth-busters, they tackled the moon landing myth vs real. 😂 I watched this in theaters when it came out it was so awesome. The best speech a president ever gave and it was not real 😅
The special effects in this movie were fantastic in the theaters. A true summer blockbuster
“Defcon” a word we first learned in the 80’s from “War Games”. 😊
You're darn tooting
Another great film they should watch
Reagan screened it and asked if it could happen... They came back and said yes.
You guys need to see War Games - "Do you want to play a game?" lol 😂
Yes, nobody reacts to War Games and that was a brilliant movie!
Love the scene where Will goes out to get the paper and then the expression when he looks up and sees the ship!!
My favorite Bill Pullman movie is "While You Were Sleeping" where he played "Jack," to Sandra Bullock's "Lucy.". And he was also Meg Ryan's fiance in "Sleepless In Seattle."
My favorite of his too.
Lost highway
@@nielsmaes3108 Thank you. Sounds interesting! I will have to watch that one.
Ah, the moon landing. We were staying in a little "motel" consisting of wooden cabins in the woods. During the night of the landing, we were crowded, along with all the other guests, in a little room in the lobby of the motel-the only place with a television-and we watched the landing.
I will never forget that.
That guy? THAT GUY?!? That guy is Jeff freakin' Goldblum, lol. Icon!
They need to see the Grand Budapest Hotel. I think they are stuck on sequels and big-budget stuff, which is fine. But man, they are missing out on some thought-provoking films.
@@blackblake3658 Wes Anderson makes some brilliant films
The actor who played Jimmy is Harry Connick Jr., who is a famous Jazz musician as well. He put his first album out at the age of 11 and he's had songs on the soundtrack for several movies, including When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Mask, which y'all have reacted to.
He was also a judge on American Idol.
My neighbor from the mid 80s until he died a few years ago, was a retired aeronautical engineer from NASA. He worked on everything from Gemini to the Space Shuttle. The moon landings were real.
Mary McDonnell who plays the president's wife was Stands With A Fist in Dances With Wolves.
We landed on the moon in 1969. The moon landings were real.

This movie was so great in the theater. One of my favorite summer blockbusters. Is it ridiculous in some parts? yes, wonderfully ridiculous
At 28:21 when Will Smith says and what the hell is that smell is a improvised line because of a bad smell on the set that day
They filmed parts of this movie in my town. I remember going outside and watching them film down the street from me as a kid. It was really cool.
Guy shooting the coke can is Adam Baldwin, who played Animal Mother on Full Metal Jacket and Jane on Firefly.
Adam Baldwin was Jayne on Firefly. He also was in two other great series: Chuck, and The Last Ship.
OMG that's Jaaaaayneeeee 🤯 I was today years old....
he's also complete garbage, which is why you don't see him acting in anything anymore.
Thanks. I've been trying to remember if that was the same Baldwin from The Last Ship.
🎶The hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne. 🎶
David was the hero of the movie he had the very smart brain
The President is Lone Star from Spaceballs.
The inappropriately excited scientist is Data from Star Trek the Next Generation.
The solider who shoots the can off the alien ship is Jayne from Firefly (which you should absolutely react to!). :)
They haven’t done TV series. But if they start, they should start with Firefly. Then they can review the movie, Serenity, with all the backstory.
Omg! I would love for them to do Firefly and Serenity!
Jeff was the lead actor in the sci-fi movie The Fly.
The shooter who shot the can off, Adam Baldwin was also Animal Mother from Full Metal Jacket.
This is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE MOVIE! It came out the summer before my Senior Year of high school! “Disaster Thrillers” became my favorite genre in large part because of this movie!
Jay... people bounce lasers off mirrors that were placed on the moon by us.
It's not up for debate.
We landed on the moon.
Love you guys.
I love how rapidly the situation in the beginning unfolds. "They should be entering our atmosphere in the next 25 minutes." Like, this is happening, NOW!
Them aliens weren’t f*cking around. They came down here to do a job, and might expeditiously too I might add.
I was not only alive for it but being from Houston, I had several friends at NASA, and it was absolutely real! Why do you think the Russians and Chinese have not challenged it or sent their own expedition.
That reflector that they left on the surface of the moon is still there.
🤪crazy that there’s conspiracy theories about the moon landings and so many other things.
It is shocking to me some of the conspiracy theories people believe.
@@RosedachThere's a lot more that was left there than the reflector.
Bill Pullman was not on Twister. That was Bill Paxton (RIP), who also played Fred Haise on Apollo 13. Bill Pullman was on Lake Placid, as Amber correctly pointed out.
That's it, man. Game over, man. It's game over.
@@dumy187how do I get out of this chickenshit outfit?
Bill Pullman was also the brother Sandra Bullock ended up with in “While You Were Sleeping’…
He was also in Sleepless In Seattle - the fiancé who was allergic to everything!
I watched it (the moon landing) live in my friend's parent's family room in a basement in Evanston, IL. I was 11 years old, going on 12. Nothing was ever more real than that.
Seeing this in the theater for the first time was insane. Among the best popcorn movies of all time
The moon landings definitely happened.
Seriously though I still can't believe that some people think it's fake. I mean the Chinese recently sent back photos of the landing sites from their recent expeditions so they would have to be helping the US keep the secret which makes as much sense as Russia going along with it at the height of the cold war.
People who don't understand how satellites work, or that you can see the ISS through a telescope in the right conditions.
Great watch! You would likely love Mars Attacks. Funny, star-studded and of course, aliens.
Mars Attacks also has TOM JONES.
@@pamgray7410 And it's not unusual that Tom Jones is the best!
they wouldn't recognize most of that wonderful cast, sadly.
Ack ack ack... ACK ACK!!!
Mars Attacks would not have been successful without Slim Whitman's musical voice.
One of my favs, I've seen it at least 100 times. As far as the moon landing, I remember Walter Cronkite's giddiness while it was happening. He never got giddy about anything. My opinion it was real.
This is one of those perfectly made movies and so much fun to watch! I saw it with my whole extended family when we were on vacation in Colorado when I was a teen. We all loved it, its such a great memory for us!
No the president Bill Pullman wasn’t in Twister he was in:
1. Lake Placid
2. While You Were Sleeping
3. A League Of Their Own
4. Space Balls
Malice and The Serpent and the Rainbow
And Bill Pullman played the dad in the movie Casper the friendly ghost 😀
Lost highway, and the grudge as well.

And Sleepless In Seattle
“These aliens are A-Holes” needs to be on a t-shirt.
Those aliens were so rude.
They are jerks!
I remember seeing this in theaters and everyone cheered when the president fired his chief of staff 😆
He fired the Secretary of Defense. But the SecDef was technically correct when he said the President can't do that. A cabinet level official can only be fired by Congress. But, if the President asks for their resignation, the Secretary will usually comply.
The "fireworks" Will promised his step-son at the end is not them still bombing the aliens. It's the pieces of the spaceship burning up as they enter the atmosphere.
Oh one more thing I forgot he was in Spaceballs he was the Han Solo character with his buddy barf....bill pulman

The guy that did the virus part also played in Jurassic Park "Jeff Bloom" . In both movies he uses the line "go faster, must go faster" I love both movies and it's cool he brought in that line.
Jeff Goldblum.

After watching both of those movies for many years I've never caught that!
I used to get Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton mixed up all the time, too.
That was one of my favorite movies in 1996. So many memories. It was so popular. EVERYBODY loved that movie and Twister. '96 was a great year for blockbusters!
The movie that is playing and cutting in and out (6:20) is "The Day The Earth Stood Still" 1951. Good movie you should check it out. Also the original movie "The War of the Worlds" 1953 the remake was good, but its always good to check out an original.
Vivica was "Copperhead", a member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad in Kill Bill.

Whaaaat?! I was today years old….
I saw this year my first child was born. Still holds up to this day. Has one of the best speeches in it than any other film I've watched. Still gives me goosebumps .
Taking care of the kids, ensuring they get all that you both can give them is important. You need not explain.
I watched the moon landing live on TV. In 1969, the technology was good enough to fake it in a movie, but not on live TV. I believe it. Later on I worked for the company that pioneered Closed Captioning, which was first used during the moon landing. They had a trophy room with all kinds of awards that they won for it (among other things).
My wife and I saw this in the theater in 1996. Loved it then. bought it on VHS. Loved it then. Bought it on DVD loved it then. Stream it. Loved it then. Experienced it anew with you just now. Still love it. Thanks for doing these reactions.
Hear, hear from a fellow '81 born! The 90s were topnotch for movies. It's also what sparked my love for Hans Zimmer with Lion King, Crimson Tide, and The Rock.

Back when Hollywood made movies for entertainment instead of political agenda.
@@catsmom129 Lol. Lighten up, Francis.
Well said.
LOL “woke agenda”? No summer blockbusters? Did they not make a new Planet of the Apes and Dune 2 or was that my imagination? This one’s pretty political and jingoistic if you ask me.
The black and white film that was on when the satellite interference was happening is definitely a film you both should watch. It's called "The Day The Earth Stood Still from 1951. A brilliant film with Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal. You will love it x

Unfortunately... I cannot watch your reaction to this movie. My family has a corny movie watch tradition on the 4th of July. We all sit down together and watch this exact movie. Been doing it for years. The president's speech at the end is one of the best speeches I have ever seen in a movie.
I look forward to watching your reaction on the 5th
Maybe you should watch some other movies so you can see better speeches.
I can't believe people don't believe the USA landed men on the moon. It's incredible in this "enlightened age."
The First Lady, played by Mary McDonnell, is the actress that played Stands with a Fist on Dances with Wolves!!!
Saw this in theaters when I was a kid. My sister took me as a birthday present, and has been my favorite movie of all time since then. Literally the definition of a summer blockbuster.
Thank you. I had forgotten about the sequel. I’ll have to rewatch them both.
When this movie premered in San Antonio, it was at only one (old) theater, which is no longer there, and the line was down the street and around the corner three blocks long. In this movie, Will Smith's buddy is played by Harry Connick Jr. HCJ is also a modern day crooner. You should react to him on your music channel

Just made familial connections now to the "Star Trek" (2009) film series via Robert Pine, who plays one of the president's advisors here. Pine is the father of Chris Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk in the aforementioned Star Trek films.
If you haven’t seen Armageddon then that movie gives you the action, effects, romance, one liners that you loved about this one
