I'm considering this in the Evergreen. That's a finish that gave me a rare reaction of "ooh, that's nice."

Thorough review. I would compare to hand made resin pens, like Edison or Franklin-Christoph, also with Jowo nibs & similarly priced. This a a machine made pen from China. I love vintage Esterbrooks. Am fortunate to have a few. I find the plastic material in vintage to be unique. In the 40 & 50, Esterbrooks were low cost value pens. This pen is neither. Have you seen Moonman M100 or PENBBS 349? Those compare more with the Estie. Maybe made in same factory.

chrisrap52 I find the build quality and the material on this to be far superior to any of the PenBBS pens I have. Even though they use the same Jowo nibs I cant really compare it to either of my Franklin Christoph pens. Its a very different pen, with different pros and cons. I think it is probably closer to the Edison pens, but none of the Edison pens in my comfortable price range appeal to my taste. I am looking forward to trying out the Moonman100 when mine eventually arrives. In general I quite like the Moonman pens when they are being ‘original’. I havent tried the Vintage Esterbrooks, they are not easy to come by here in Australia at a decent price point.

Do you consider value in your evaluation? PENBBS is 1/10 the price of the Estie. I find PENBBS quality to be very good.
If you like the section of the modern Estie, than the M100 is smaller. If you like the MV section, than you may like the M100. I found the MV section uncomfortable. I'd be interested in your views on M100 finish quality. Resin is reported to be cellulose acetate not acrylic. What color did you order?
I started my pen addiction with American vintage. That influences my view of modern pens. Do you have any LIY pens? A similar pen but smaller.

Value is exceptionally important, but I dont mind paying more for a pen I like the feel of and the writing experience. The PenBBS nibs dont do it for me, sadly. Lucky they’re changeable. I much prefer the main section over the MV section. I dont have any LIY pens. I’d like to get into Vintage pens, but my philosophy of ‘replaceable’ pens makes investing in anything too rare a little harder.

No it's turned acrylic, like PENBBS & Moonman M100. Also Edison & Franklin-Christoph..

I just received Estie and Edison Nouveau Premiere yesterday. To my surprise the Esterbrook's build quality is on par if not better than Edison. I think the burden of the brand comes from its heritage. Fortunately I don't have that emotional connection with the brand and it's a very appealing purchase for me.
