That's a cool looking fish! I don't have a problem with hybrids as long as their quality of life isn't impaired. I'm more bothered by selectively bred strains with features that impact their health and behavior (balloon body shapes, fins that make swimming difficult, etc.).
That's why I dont like hybrids , you either have them all or none . People are always gonna stretch the limits to make the extra buck especially in the fish market
I personally don't keep hybrid fish, but I don't have a problem with others keeping them. I have a problem with breeders, hobbyists and retailers not being transparent when selling fish. I also have issues when the fish's health and longevity is sacrificed for exaggerated superficial traits.
Yes. This is exactly how I feel about it. I think this is the best way of thinking about the situation. I do like OBs. They were all garbage about 20 years ago but now they look and act like just about any other peacock and look way better than the brown spotted crap they looked like back then. I also like livebearers and just about all of them have been hybridized multiple times.
I honestly have more issues with selective breeding for deformities that make life more difficult for the fish ("balloon" types and the like) than I do with hybrids. Hybrids occur quite often in nature, and oftentimes the hybrids stand a better chance at survival than the "pure" strains do.
Thanks that was a cool looking fish. I was too enthralled with the huge molly and missed that fish. I really have a mixed a opinion on hybrids. For endangered fish like goodeids, I am completely against hybrids. For other aquarium strains, I am ok with hybrids. I do think that any seller should track and disclose any hybridized fish.
Hybrids are very cool under 2 conditions: 1. The quality of life isn’t reduced due to hybridization. 2. Those that didn’t fit the “perfect” outcome aren’t killed off. It’s one thing worth discussing that someone is manipulating a natural process, but it’s a complete other when thinking that someone is manipulating the process and killing the result. 2 fish breeding naturally would nearly always result in a desired or “sellable” fish. Just because a breeder meddled in the process and made something they didn’t want, doesn’t mean it should be killed off.
Enjoyed the video Zenzo! I don't think there's anything "wrong" with hybridizing fish - lots of aquarium store fish (swordtails, platies, peacocks) are hybrids of different species. I do think there's something cool about maintaining a species though, especially if it's a rare or threatened fish. For me, it adds to the story behind the fish and makes them more interesting, even if they don't have the same bling as their hybrid cousins.
That was a cool fish farm, in business for a loooong time and responsible for some of the early color varieties of livebearers. I kind of still sit on the fence with hybrids, but those were really cool looking fish once they got some size on them. Hybrids are much different than mutations which I'm totally against whether by accident or on purpose.
Every variation is a mutation (color variations, fin differences, etc), but I agree that any breeding for a trait that causes fish (or any animal) to have a shorter or more painful life is unfair.
Hybrids can be very beautiful and I have kept some myself. In my opinion, one of the biggest issue is hybridized fish are not always kept or sold responsibly. Some of the offspring will look 100% like one of the parents and not a hybridized fish. If resale is not done responsibly, then you can end up with a misrepresentation of or muddying down of a species. Imagine buying a fish sold to you as a certain species with the intent of breeding it yourself, only to find out later it's a hybrid. I have kept Hybrids as mentioned, one of which was a Texas Cichlid X Jaguar Cichlid. The fish were beautiful, but someone who did not know they were hybridized could easily believe they were just very nice Texas Cichlids. For me, it really just comes down to being a responsible hobbyist as to weather or not it should be accepted. Always an interesting topic to discuss and debate about.
I know it's very controversial and that's okay.. we have people who preserve pure strains and we need them!! But in the hobby just like in the wild hybridization does occur! I think we're the line gets crossed is when people breed for certain things that are detrimental to the fish.. the main thing is these fish are here to stay and if you love fish like I do they all need to be loved and cherished! That's the beauty of this hobby you can find your cup of tea and go with it! A true hybrid is like you're talkin about, two specific fish actually crossing!! I was honestly going to mention a liger and then you showed it on the video 😂 that's the beauty of the world you can never say never and things do happen!! Thanks for sharing Zenzo!! You are an amazing Channel and I appreciate your videos!! Have a blessed and beautiful day my friend 🙏🌿🐟🌿 I
Hybrid fish or any animals in general will stay In any form of hobby whether we like it or not. We just need to respect others choices. To each their own. Both arguments have merit in value. We just need to leave at that so that all of us hobbyists can enjoy the care for our pets, natural or unnatural. To me, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What is good to you, may not be good to me, but that doesn’t mean we can’t both enjoy the hobby. I think personally that they are all beautiful. Now in terms of “Culling”, both sides have the same formula that they follow because on the normal side of breeding fish, there are many that are deformed, unhealthy, etc. Due to inbreeding too much. It is also for the lack of resources. That’s my experience anyway. So, at the end of it, let’s just “Respect” each other to enjoy this Beautiful hobby. Thank you all.
I have fry at the moment that are frrom a male blue eye cichlid and female salvini.... its got me thinking if you breed an agreesive fish with a mellow one will the fry be less agressive? Im hoping o get less agressive looking salvinis...
I like hybrids, I recently had an unexpected batch of fish spawn born in my aquarium that were cross between electric yellow lab (female) and an electronic blue johanni and they came out amazing! The babies come out silver with bright blue fins with a black strip going from the head to the tail. Above the stripe is a darker navy blue color.
I don't keep hybrids, I discouraged it. I even "call" pure breed fish if there color is a little off, just to make sure that those gene don't spead into the hobby.
Of the fish i keep my tiger endlers and even my bettas are hybrids (almost all domestic betta splendens are hybrids) and although they are not for everybody they can be very enjoyable to keep
I don't mind hybrid fish as long as they live a good life. I have a blood parrot cichlid and I love her. She is the sweetest little big fish I have. She is always hungry and always wants attention. I hand feed her. She hates he gravel vac and tried to kill it everytime. She is so scared when we have visitors. Just hides in her cave and don't come out until they are gone. So big but so easily scared. She seems to love her life as a hybrid even though she never gets a dad for her eggs
Hey it was awsome seeing you again at the convention, i wish i could have come to the other events but its cool you got to experience them. Cool knowing one of my fave fish tuber came to where i shop for my fish.. Glad the sunshine state helped you change your views on hybrids a bit, we are a state full of them below and above water lol
Two thoughts; 1. We all may not agree on our thoughts regarding hybrids and that is OK. I love that that is a given here. 2. I must need to watch this video on a bigger screen, that hybrid looks a lot like a bluegill to me. 🤷♂️ Thanks for sharing!
cool video.. I kept Blood Parrots years back and found them to be hearty and goofy looking, but ok kinda. Ive become fond of Red Texas also as of lately. I have 1 in my 300g tank and its growing fast and looking amazing.
I'm not against hybrids as long as they are disclosed properly, the problem occurs when you buy 6 juvi peacocks at auction that are grey and labelled "Aulonocara Cobue" and end up having yellow on them instead of totally blue - have had that happen more than once. I think at the end of the day, we have removed the fish from the wild regardless so there is minimal natural selection - people even sometimes accidentally alter a fish by picking their preference in colour, shape, etc. (i.e. electric yellows with the thick black bar on the dorsal, most wild caught labido it's much thinner). I do agree with a lot of the comments that trying to keep to form for CARES fish is important as they don't have a fighting chance in the wild usually. Definitely an interesting fish to see, would be cool to see the red more in the body - probably a passion project for someone.
I don't mind hybrid's as much as I use too. Guess I've learned to accept them for their own uniqueness because some certainly do look nice.. My Corydoras community tank has been interesting to watch and study, I have 25 total, 6 different species types in a 40 gallon breeder. Even if they managed to cross breed, I'd have to be picking up the eggs as soon as they are laid to save any. I have a couple small swordtails in the tank that gobble everything up.. Watching my Corydoras when spawning and laying eggs, they will sometimes get in a mixed group and chase the female around, but they mainly stick to their own type.. Sterbai and false Juli are the ones that have come the closest to cross breeding, the black fin/leucomelas interact with everyone yet stay in their own group but will join the party with either the sterbai or Juli the similus, skunk and panda's enjoy hanging out together as well, but they haven't attempted spawning. In my 55 gallon I have orange and black venezuelan Corydoras that haven't cross breed or shown any signs they ever will but time will tell I guess, I also have a few glo danios in the tank as well full of eggs.. but that's a problem for another day because my angelfish in the tank spawned and I have a bunch of wigglers about ready to swim right now. The pure luck of picking out a breeding pair of angels like I did is kind of amusing to me, because I watched a few videos from dean's fish room went to a local fish store to get some frozen food, ran across these two zebra angels that just caught my eye.. after watching them for a bit I decided to get One of them and went back home, when I put him in my 55 gallon for whatever reason I was feeling regret that I broke up a pair based on the way the fish interacted in the store and having similar markings just slightly different brightness of color.. so I went back to the store that day and got the other angel which turned out to be the female that has now had 4 spawning attempt's and has gotten progressively better with each batch... It's amazing to watch her care for her eggs from laying them, to the wigglers stage where she keeps them in a big wiggling blob.. I moved some to a breeder box temporarily, the one's that escaped she grabbed back up and has them back on a leaf caring for them, while the male sits guard under the breeder box.. also breeder box sucks because the fry can escape between the vents if they want to... But the mom will gather them back up before they get eaten and put them back into her little group I wonder if a suction cup type of silk plant could be used with a vertical leaf piece and another at a 90° to 75° angle.. I noticed my angel fish taking the eggs from the beginning of the wigglers stage and place them on a more horizontal leaf compared to the almost vertical one she laid eggs on... It's funny what watching a few aquarium co-op videos can do for you.. I didn't know anything about Angel fish but a few virtual hours in dean's fish room I'm able to pick out a male female pair without even realizing it... Especially since they were quarter size when I selected them. I credit Dean for all his knowledge in helping me pick out my Angels who are anything but...
As long as it is for beautiful fish rather than deformaties like flowerhorns and Bubble Eye goldfish I'm okay with it. Breeding for deformaties is just sick and cruel to the fish as they may not actually have any advantage to the and can cause them difficulties in their life. But for beautiful patterns and colours is fine as no fish were harmed in the making.
Sooo they basically bred a "Red Texas" right? It's actually very common in Indonesia as flowerhorns are very popular here. Some of them look stunning! But most of the fish ended up culled or sold as a "C grade" flowerhorn
Hi Zenzo, yes ive kept gorgeous specimens of flowerhorns. They are so intelligent and literally a water dog...I never needed a net for them I could remove them by hand if needed..which comes to my next point..why?? I removed them to medicate..they are in MY CASE very susceptible to intestinal issues..all of my flowerhorns no matter how careful I was had issues...the longest I was ever able to keep them was 4 years..I bought 3 within 🇺🇸 amd one directly from Thailand 🇹🇭...the Thailand one lasted the longest..yet he came riddled with parasites and needed extensive treatment...I have videos of them..LAM LAM my thai bluesilk and Fuji my gorgeous Red Dragon...both broke my heart 💔 when they passed... take care very nice video...also to me they are just a fish...a beautiful fish with a great (incredible) personality..I don't judge i just loved them as my pet...its like having a dog..the most intelligent dog I ever had was a MUTT no one wanted her name was BOO..this dog was like a human being only thing left for her to do was talk....❤👊🏼
I like Hybrid Fish. I have 2 Blood Parrots. They both have big personalities, and their small mouths allow me to keep Diamond Tetras as dither fish to increase positive activity in the aquarium.
Awesome Video! I have been keeping hybrids since I started my African cichlid tank, such as dragon bloods and OB peacock and I am fascinated with their color combinations.
I don't like hybrids due to concerns of the original fish being removed from the hobby like is going on with Malawi Haps and Peacocks. However if the seller says it's a hybrid and a person wants it still, they need to get what they want and what is best for their hobby.
So.....my lfs has a breeding pair dropped off in a 125 that is a Texas and a Jaguar. They breed constantly and I took a scoop of VERY small fry home and I now have at least 5 of them in my own 125. They look alot like the hybrid you showed in the video, but without the red. They grew quite quick and are probably already 5" on average.
👍😎 Don’t mind Hybrids but Prius owner’s can be jerks…. All kidding aside, I’m kinda like you, don’t really care for Flower horn’s but that hybrid you showed us … stunning. ✌️
Zenzo great points of view on your part. Let's face reality, WE ARE ALL HYBRIDS to a certain extent! Yes, it may not occur frequently, but it happens! Naturally or in a test tube! We have been able to expand to different avenues with breeding and propagation of species. I wholeheartedly agree that we make choices or take chances and should hold true to our responsibilities to those choices! As fish keepers we can allow nature to take its course, but due to the Glass Box, we are playing the "Creators" role of the future species. And there is NOTHING wrong with that! As long as we keep them healthy, fed and happy! Love your content and Thank you!!!
We are NOT all hybrids. Hybrid is crossing of 2 different species. Humans are not hybrids. The term "hybrid" is incorrectly used far too often. If you are breeding within the same species, say guppies, you aren't creating a hybrid. You're creating a cross or mix of strains or traits or colors or whatever. A guppy breeding with a Molly is a hybrid, for example. They're two entirely different species.
I don't have a major issue with hybrid fish with 2 caveats. 1, they have a physical structure that doesn't severely negatively impact their quality of life. I feel this way about non-hybrid fish as well. 2, they are designated, marketed, and sold as hybrids, so consumers are fully aware of what they're getting. Don't call them a "pure" or designated species if they are a hybrid or even if you're unsure if they're "pure" or not. Just be honest about what they are or may be. Also, the term "hybrid" is incorrectly and improperly used far too often. If you are breeding within a species, say guppies with different colors or traits, then that is NOT a hybrid. It is a mix or mutt or cross. If you breed a Guppy with a Molly for example, then that is a hybrid, as they are two entirely different strains. Breeding within a species is NOT creating hybrids.
I understand the arguments of those who don't like hybrids. But I personally find them fascinating. The idea of having a new species in my aquarium. Honestly it's one of the most interesting parts of the hobby for me.
That’s super interesting! I think I never knew that fish COULD hybridize. But I agree with you and other commentators: as long as they are healthy and happy then I should be no problem.
To be honest, and this is just my opinion...im not against hybrid fish in the hobby but that hybridization doesn't justify having a fish that looks like a low quality flowerhorn. A "pure" parrot fish and texas cichlid alone looks great already.
I think Hybrids become a problem when they are released to the wild and become a thread for the natural populations. But this can happen with any selective breeding as with bettas. Besides that selective breeding like long fins, veil tails or baloons are much more harmful in my opinion. However, stores should be transperent about hybridization as a lot of the hybrids probably cannot reproduce anymore.
🔵Some people love hybrids but hate glowfish. Glowfish are technically a color variation but are still the same species. They breed true and are just as hardy and healthy as the non glowfish. Also the glowfish was originally created for environmental research. What purpose was a flowerhorn created for? To create something weird to make money? Yes, glowfish are now produced for profit and they keep adding more species all the time. I read somewhere that part of the profit is still used for research. Don't quote me on that. I think glowfish are really neat and they help to bring new young people into the hobby. Personally I think flowerhorns are the ugliest fish in the hobby today but some people love them. To each his own. I just wish people would quit bashing the glowfish as being unnatural. No they're not but so are most of the hybrids you see.
The Texas Parrot is incredible! We have both of those fish and love them. I always thought the Blood Parrots were infertile though. Hybrids are cool, IMO. I’m just amazed. Thanks for sharing this!
I am all for ALMOST all hybrids. It is fun to see what we can come up with. How ever not at the expense of the fish. Ex: sharpee dogs. I can't spell it. Lol. But the dog with super wrinkles all over their face. They get infections alot because of this and there is no way it is fun to have skin wrinkles in your eyes. I know we are talking about fish but I think you understand we're I'm going witb this. I am pro hybrid if it makes a happy healthy fish.
cichlid hybids are amazing as they violate the rule of speciation as hybrids can often reproduce look at the popular polar blue blood parrot. that is a hybrid of a hybrid, and they reproduce just fine. so long as they paired up on their own not some weird forced fertilization.
In my opinion most fish are hybrid. As soon as we start breeding them in our aquariums, we are manipulating nature, therefore hybridization. People hit the roof over fish like Glofish but say "aww aren't they cute" about Guppies. It's all fine except for bubble eye goldfish.
As usual, this was/is your typical excellent video! However, I would like to make to make two points. First, there is infact an Asian lion, much smaller than its African counterpart that currently is somewhat endangered and has been and currently, rarely, overlaps the Asian tiger.. More interesting to me is the more recent encountering of polar bears with grizzly bears due the reduction of the former's habitat due to "global warming." ... Polar bear and grizzly bear hybrids, known as 'pizzly bears,' could become more common because of the climate crisis | Business Insider México | Noticias pensadas para ti. . (This sighted article with pictures is very interesting.) Scientists believe that with time this "pizzly" could well evolve into a new, viable and breeding species should the polar bear become extinct.
Thanks for the info on the Asian lion. I knew they were on the continent at one time, but didn’t know there were any left. I just looked and it appears that there a bit more than 600 left in the wild. I do remover reading about the polar bear/grizzly bear combination a couple of months ago.
Hybrids are cool fish and keeping them is a fun hobby but you can do whatever you want with your tank, whether you make a community or species aquarium the point of having pet fish is because it’s fun, cool and most importantly your pet
I have 7 fry from a wild type blue acara cross with an electric blue acara. They're the size of large almonds and already spangling. The most dominant has heavy black lines, while the others fade down from that into one with just a hint of a dot. They are total dicks once the pair up. killed dennison barbs and a rosy barb in my 125. Now they picking scales off the rosy's.
Ive been back and forth over the years on the issue. The problem is when people dont disclose and try to pass them and some new fad, or something they arent.
As long as the aim is to produce a healthy fish, that doesn't have a body too short for their inner organs, or that the fins are too long for the fish to be able to swim, I don't have a problem. It's the same with dogs and cats for me. Breathing difficulties (pugs, persian cats), German Shepards with deformed hind legs and back etc. Apart from that, no problem at all. We're all hybrids.
I am personally completely fine with it in this case, it happens in nature more than most realize and is an important part of speciation, not just for fish but many species. I do have a problem with people mislabeling hybrids, the worst cases I know is with African cichlids and with the tarantula hobby. The tarantula hobby is actually very similar the the fish keeping one, id suggest people check it out, I own 7. will own more in the future.
I used to be adamant against hybrids. After 40+ years in exotics i can tell you that unless you import it yourself with locality data you should assume its a hybrid. Period
I love hybrids and possibly do stuff no one ever seen. i love them so much i made my own channel recently. I am not your typical hybrid guys i like the impossible kind or the ones they say impossible to cross breed. I dont have much content yet because i just started it but going through pc and looking for all my past projects and my future ones :)
Asia has lions, there are regions in India where territory of lions and tigers overlap. Parrots are mix of midas and vieja, there are guys on monster fish keepers that recreated them. It's sad to see you showing a mutilated heart shaped parrot though, their tails are cut off to look like that.
Fish hybrids do occur in nature iv caught quite a few. Roach/bream, roach/rudd, plaice/flounder (all in the uk). Not really my thing but no problem with them as long as they're healthy
Well I don't have a problem with hybrids but I'm really confused about polar blue convicts because I love the way they look but originally I thought that they were from a convict and a parrot. I talked to a couple of breeders and they said they were not hybrids and all they are is a short-bodied convict. So I'm confused.
Hybrids from the same genus im fine with , but most hybrids are made to make more money which is why I dislike them. There are so many wild fish that could be in the hobby but their spaces are filled with farm bred mutants
I didn't used to like hybrid fish especially blood parrots until I got a free one from my friend and now have 7 parrots. One parrot cichlid is really cool looking with orange and really white body. Also in my big tank I have a female parrot that is paired with my male trimac cichlid. They spawned 2 times so far but too many fish in tank for fry or egg survival.
Hello from 🇬🇧 . I'm team Love Them. Interesting video. I didn’t kniwca Flower Horn was a hybrid but then again I've never kept them. What two species are they from?
Don’t have any hybrids now but I have kept blood parrots before so not against them but I have gotten into breeding Pleco’s so my tanks are full of young and adult fish right now.
I say nothing wrong with hybrids, but I agree with if you try to get a specific strain and only 1 out of 100 fish fit the criteria and the other 99 get put down, that's not right.
Hybrids just tend to be overly aggressive, infertile, and much larger than the original fish. Most tend to look eh with the occasional nice combination coming out. I much prefer line breeding, but there’s issues with that too such as the EBJD that barely survives in the home aquaria.
The question is not: Do I love hybrid or not! The question is what is the purpose in creating "amazing" unatural monsters. Tank fish have already paid a lot of suffering things (extreme body modifications, extreme color modifications, glowfish, etc), it is not usefull to create more. The thing behind this is just buziness... And do not forget that if these fish find their way to the wild we can say goodbye to the true natural species...
Seeing how the fish natural bred by their own choice and it wasn’t a situation where people just mixed the eggs and sperm together I think that hybrids are okay.
as long as there not passed on as a true speices or very similar speices and are documented as such I suppose it fine , prime example swordtails and platys!, goldfish, there here to stay and have been for a long time.
Unfortunately, that's all a bit of a myth. Polar blue "parrots" are not hybrids of parrot cichlids. They are essentially a short bodied/balloon convict/HRP cichlid. It is just pure coincidence that they share similar features to parrots.
I didn't read all of the comments to see if this had already been addressed but at about 9:50 the two pictures you show.. that is a picture of a Jack Dempsey, not a Texas cichlid. Also the picture you're using for a parrot or king Kong parrot is an especially deformed individual with no caudal fin, which I find alarming. Whether we are for hybrids or against, those types of deformations are naturally culled in the wild and almost certainly affect the ability of the fish to behave normally.

I love your videos buddy! Upload more! 😇🙏
I have an OB zebra and he is my favorite fish. He has got the most unique coloring of them all.
Loved the parrot Texas 🤙🏽💪🏽
A hybrid between a Convict Cichlid and a Parrotfish should be called a Jailbird Cichlid.
I have a male Firemouth that bred with a female Salvini and the offspring is just beautiful! I love hybrids!
Great video, nice drone flying skills 🌝
I "fly" my best! LOL
Two thoughts;
1. We all may not agree on our thoughts regarding hybrids and that is OK. I love that that is a given here.
2. I must need to watch this video on a bigger screen, that hybrid looks a lot like a bluegill to me. 🤷♂️
Thanks for sharing!
The picture you showed of the parrot cichlid and the one facing it was actually a Dempsey
cool video..
Sterbai and false Juli are the ones that have come the closest to cross breeding, the black fin/leucomelas interact with everyone yet stay in their own group but will join the party with either the sterbai or Juli
the similus, skunk and panda's enjoy hanging out together as well, but they haven't attempted spawning.
The pure luck of picking out a breeding pair of angels like I did is kind of amusing to me,
because I watched a few videos from dean's fish room went to a local fish store to get some frozen food, ran across these two zebra angels that just caught my eye.. after watching them for a bit I decided to get One of them and went back home, when I put him in my 55 gallon for whatever reason I was feeling regret that I broke up a pair based on the way the fish interacted in the store and having similar markings just slightly different brightness of color.. so I went back to the store that day and got the other angel which turned out to be the female that has now had 4 spawning attempt's and has gotten progressively better with each batch... But the mom will gather them back up before they get eaten and put them back into her little group
I wonder if a suction cup type of silk plant could be used with a vertical leaf piece and another at a 90° to 75° angle..
I have a 75 gallon tank and I was wondering how many african cichlids (peacocks and haps together) can I keep in it?
As long as it is for beautiful fish rather than deformaties like flowerhorns and Bubble Eye goldfish I'm okay with it. Breeding for deformaties is just sick and cruel to the fish as they may not actually have any advantage to the and can cause them difficulties in their life.
But for beautiful patterns and colours is fine as no fish were harmed in the making.
Honestly it’s probably the only Cichlid I’d be willing to get kind of reminds me of a bass without the danger of eating other fish
Based on the thumbnailI was waiting for you to show off a Dempsey x parrot hybrid.
They grew quite quick and are probably already 5" on average.
great video zenzo
I have the same exact hybrid fish right now!
Love my flowerhorn “George” I know it’s original but they are one of the most sociable animals I own.
I have hybrid between butterfly koi and black moor goldfish.
Beautiful fish. I had my male Texas cichlid spawn with a female convict and their fry are stunning. I love all fish whether hybrid or not.
I had parrots about 10 yrs ago in my saca cichlid tank beautiful fish i been debating recently if i want to put 1 in my current hap peacock tank
First, there is infact an Asian lion, much smaller
than its African counterpart that currently is somewhat endangered and has been and currently, rarely, overlaps the Asian tiger..
This is my go to fish farm and those two are always spawning it's crazy , tons of fry
Love love love my blood parrots are so much of a sweet personality
I am going to be in Fort Lauderdale FL this week do you know of any good fish stores or farms I could visit there or in Miami.
Neighborhood Fish Farm and Summerland Fish Farm were cool to visit. More to see at the Neighborhood Fish Farm, but both were great.
At first I didn't like hybrids or goldfish but now I do I like the new Pola blue cichlid after all we are hybrids
I'm not against hybrids, but in most instances I prefer the natural forms over hybrids. That's not saying many of the hybrids are gorgeous fish.
I dont have problems with hybrids. As long as we take care of them well and see them thriving then yeah why not
I used to be adamant against hybrids.
I love hybrid cichlids, especially when they're beautiful
Fish hybrids do occur in nature iv caught quite a few. Roach/bream, roach/rudd, plaice/flounder (all in the uk). Not really my thing but no problem with them as long as they're healthy
Yeah wild hybrids can be common
Are they selling those hybrid fish? I would love to have some.
Comes down to personal taste…everybody like diff fish…as with me i collect flowerhorn and they are considered hybrid but looks beutiful in my eyes…
Lov💙hybrid fishes I have a breeding pair Male Trimac with a female parrot and the colors on this fishes 🐠🐠🐠 are crazy 😜 beautiful.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I hope one day the bolivian ram will get an electric blue variant.
And there are Asian Lions, a subspieces to the african lion. They are located in India and the population is aproximatly 600 animals.
Well I don't have a problem with hybrids but I'm really confused about polar blue convicts because I love the way they look but originally I thought that they were from a convict and a parrot. I talked to a couple of breeders and they said they were not hybrids and all they are is a short-bodied convict. So I'm confused.
They lied to you
Hybrids from the same genus im fine with , but most hybrids are made to make more money which is why I dislike them.
I believe Lions and tigers were both abundant in places like India before human activity caused them to decline.
Bought a baby hybrid synodontis can wait to see what the traits are from the parents
I say nothing wrong with hybrids, but I agree with if you try to get a specific strain and only 1 out of 100 fish fit the criteria and the other 99 get put down, that's not right.
Personally I like Parrot fish. They are very interactive. I don’t mind hybrids in the hobby.
If two different species of peacocks breed that’s cross breeding. OBs are mbuna x peacock hybrids
I like the hybrid parrot/convict pretty
I think hybrids are cool. I enjoy keeping live-bearers and seeing what comes out of the community.
as long as there not passed on as a true speices or very similar speices and are documented as such I suppose it fine , prime example swordtails and platys!, goldfish, there here to stay and have been for a long time.
I'm trying to breed my parrots with convicts the polar blue bloodparrot is the name it was given they are awesome looking fish
Unfortunately, that's all a bit of a myth. Polar blue "parrots" are not hybrids of parrot cichlids. They are essentially a short bodied/balloon convict/HRP cichlid. It is just pure coincidence that they share similar features to parrots.
@@andreashessler838 very interesting what would you call a hybrid between the two
I didn't read all of the comments to see if this had already been addressed but at about 9:50 the two pictures you show.. that is a picture of a Jack Dempsey, not a Texas cichlid.
Also the picture you're using for a parrot or king Kong parrot is an especially deformed individual with no caudal fin, which I find alarming. Whether we are for hybrids or against, those types of deformations are naturally culled in the wild and almost certainly affect the ability of the fish to behave normally.
im back , OBs are fire
My parrots are my fav fish tied with my silver dollars I love the parrot though such personailty
most look weird, not my thing, not a fan of the process and culling so many fish. that last one looked cool though
