Men's 4x400 Relay Final - Botswana and South Africa Pull Off Another 1-2 Finish - ft Letsile Tebogo

- Botswana featuring Letsile Tobogo (300m world record holder) and South Africa finished 1-2 in the Men's 4x400 Relay Final at the 2024 World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.
South Africa was without 400m world record holder Wayde van Niekerk, his spot was take by Lythe Pillay, Gold medalist at the World U20 Championship in 2022.
With a credible 44.42 second split Pillay, who ran in the Mixed 4x400m earlier in the day, pulled South Africa from 5th to 2nd in the final leg while Letsile Tebogo comfortably ran a 43.72 second split in the second leg for Botswana

At the Paris Olympics, we are starting with Letsile to give the Botswana team an early advantage from the very start, then Collen Kebinatshipi/Anthony Pesela/ Baboloki Thebe on the second leg, then Scotch and Ndori to finish off the race. We are challenging for gold at the Olympics, not just any medal, though even a bronze medal would still be quite a good deal since we have never won it before
Tricky but I'd suggest leaving Tebogo at 2nd or maybe at 3rd. Ndori is a good anchor. But it showed in this race for SA and for the Netherlands in the Mixed 4x400m, if your 2nd or 3rd legs screw up it is almost impossible for the anchor to make it up against a strong anchor. If Tebogo runs 2nd or 3rd he can make sure that Ndori is in a competitive position come the final leg and Ndori can hold his own against most
starting with Letsile will be suicide, yes, he can get there first but he wont react the same as when he has a challenge in front of him. I would put Letsile 2nd or third, preferably third so Ndori can finish. Letsile is more of a cleaner, think of the heats if ne go simolotse Letsile, a bo a neela Makwala, it would have been a totaly different result. Opening such a gap only pushes other teams to their best, remember bo USA will be there

This 400m relay does not make sense. Why don’t the rest of the teams cut lanes after 400m why does it have to be after 500m?!? And why did South Africa receive a shitty lane when they got the second fastest qualifying time?!?
After 400m the effect of the stagger start hasn't been negated yet. Teams prefer the outside lanes (6 to 8) as they still benefit from the stagger when they start to move in. Unlike the short sprints where they want the middle lanes
@@forwardpass2725 aint no way that makes sense. Lets be serious. That is why the weaker nations were infront of South Africa after the first 500m because of that extra 100m of unfair advantage. If South Africa had the 3/4 lane they wouldve won this race. Even with the last race where Tebogo recovered the race from 6th to first its because he had to run on the outside lane and cover the unfair 100m.
@@forwardpass2725 I've been watching this race from the Schools champs here in South Africa and completely doesnt make sense. Its always won by teams in the inside lane. And always the biggest impact of the race is made in that unnecessary add 100m of unfair advantage to the athletes in the inner lanes.
