  • Looking at options to convert an oscillating fan to a mini waterwheel to serve as a compact part in my low tech solar tracker project. (Check out my other video for Part 3 of the conversion, It almost certainly has enough torque to move the solar reflector!) I am currently solar cooking soil (to kill weed seeds) and solar cooking excess tomato growth, old leaves, and little weeds in "weed soup" to kill mold, mildew, viruses, spider mites, weed seeds etc. so I can use the material right away as soil booster and plant food. I am also using the cooked weeds as sterile weed free mulch right away. I have a kitchen to cook food in, so the goal is to expand the uses of solar cooking and make them a part of everyday gardening for people. This might stimulate research and eventually help people who can only afford to solar cook their meals.

In case you have an old cordless screwdriver lying around, they usually have metal gears.

Oh, thank you! I will look at videos about taking them apart then go to my local thrift store and see what I find. So nice to repurpose stuff if I can. Those and old drills probably already have some reducing gears too.
