- Today I talk about the things I've disliked about my Lotus Evora 400. You will notice that overall the things I dislike are not that bad and honestly easy to fix about the car! However, most of the items on the list are things you really wished Lotus got right at the factory as some of them are common issues and easy fixes!
Also, I know I meant to say, Lewis Hamilton....LOL!!

I love your number 5 comment. You explained it so well, and it's a humorous response but gets the point across. I am getting a GT on Saturday and have already heard that I could have spent my money on a bunch of other cars. I don't love explaining myself and why I fell in love with Lotus.

Hulk Timberlake yes indeed, so many people just comparing online specs instead of real life comparisons. The lotus is other worldly in terms of what it provides at that price point.
Amazing car. You definitely made the right purchase. Only fools who don't know cars will think a Corvette or Porsche is better.

@@stevenp3176 Evora has far superior suspension, chassis, feedback, handling, responsiveness and durability. C8 only advantage is speed. A well configured C8 has an MSRP over $81,000. If you add mods to try to advantage some of the Evora performance (some will be very expensive), you'll end up paying more than the price of a stock Evora, make it more unreliable, and void the manufacturer's warranty. Good luck doing a mod to improve steering feedback by building and installing your own hydraulic steering rack in a C8.
100% agree with the "shoulda woulda" thing. I hate when people are like "Why didn't you buy this instead?"....because I WANTED this instead?

I absolutely love that car. Great color combo and I agree--the mirrors are lacking.
The only problem I have had with my 2014 Evora has been the tail lights. Will go with the afterburners.
Distance Shooter I have the GRP V3 lights on my car. Higher quality than the other brand out there. Check out my other video to see them!
BOE is working on 400 tuning! Our white 400 shop car had the same issues with the PPF---- Lotus covered it under warranty.
That is great news to hear about BOE and tuning for the 400!! I can't wait for that.
Sometimes I'm dumbfounded by Lotus. That raised airbag cover has been known about for almost 10 years now and they still haven't figured out why the clips brake holding it down.
Elliot Hancock yeah, it's a shame it's still a continuous problem. Maybe they did try something new and it still failed. But, some of the things I'm dealing with are easily missed opportunities for them.
My Evora has the same problem. The dealer said it's due to heat from the windscreen and the fact the pipes for the heater run directly underneath so they warp.
Still a great car. The fit and finish is sad. But the tune come on, search Google. The clear tape well, not surprised I would never add that. Very glad you really have one gripe.
e_ski e_ski there’s only one tune out for the lotus and it’s from komotec oversees. I’m waiting on BOE in USA as they have been know to produce the highest quality tune. We shall see. Also, I’m looking to get new PPG for the car and the fit and finish issues covered under warranty. 😁
Ok, remember me. At the moment I am the owner of a Esprit gt3 and I also have a Opel Speedster turbo. That car is made in Hethel at Lotus and my gt3 are only 68 left hand made. So I am a true Lotus enthusiast and an Evora would fit in my garage......;)

I can agree more on mirrors and the seats? Same here :D The old mirrors looked better then this garbage box :D If there is no signal light, it would be so much easier to replace them, but... Maybe Transforget racing will make something, but from review the mirrors from them for Elise/Exige isn't top quality, they shake etc. But never seen them live.
And Greg are making amazing things and customer service is breathtaking! GRP lights are amazing for such a small market car and it what they should looked from factory.
And you have to change front grill from this plastic to the metal one and rear carbon engine cover on 410, it makes the car looked like +10.000 dolar car, trust me. Plus this plastic one is heavy as hell! Anyway, great choice! I love my as hell.
I think I heard @GregsRaceParts might be coming through with a solution on the ugly mirrors for the Evora to give it more exotic flare. Also, yes GRP is an amazing person to work with and has been providing us great products for our cars. Lastly, thanks for the note on the plastic to the metal front grill, I will definitely look into that.

Just my opinion, stop looking at yourself in your phone we all know what you look like, look at the camera so that you can give more of an engaging feel.
Brutally honest-love that! The car is drop dead gorgeous but the lack of aftermarket support and the fit and finish for a car that $$ is unacceptable. I’m trying to decide between this car and a 981 GT4. I think you convinced me to go with the GT4.
The fit and finish gets better with each iteration and I've been told the 2020 GT is a huge step up in materials and fit and finish. No car is perfect, even Ferrari leave the factory with orange peel and swirls. The aftermarket scene is definitely not bad considering how small their overall production volume is. There are some dedicated lotus enthusiasts doing their very best to deliver some solid products.
No hand built car will ever have the fit and finish of a car assembled by robots. You have to accept that basic point before you buy. Personally, I think the late model Evora S was much better appointed inside. The Recaro seats were way better.
Martin Saunders agreed hand built cars come with inherent issues! Also, agreed the Recaro seats were better seats!
Those mirrors are almost exactly like the ones on my Ford Explorer. I never noticed that before. Beautiful car, nonetheless.

As far as the mirrors, they have to conform to the laws regulating safety. That being said, I agree with you on the M style mirrors both conforming and looking hawt. And yeah most people don't understand car feel and lean to specs. Forget the haters. Except the fact you bought an auto. 💀
The new mid-engine Corvette looks like a squashed snow plow.
Corvette styling for me looks a little cheap, tacky, especially the 3 exhausts and the rim's, like a tacky kids toy. Lotus always super fun to drive.
You are funny. Made me laugh. The Evora has more leg room than a corvette. A 6'-5" footer down the street sits in the car comfortably. Can you give us the web sites of the 3 aftermarket places to get Lotus parts???????

Quality of materials & its barely got any mileage on it ? Paying that much money I would expect close to perfection. I really like the Lotus brand & how it became a car company. The amazing history with Colin Chapman the Formula 1 Chief Engineer from the 1960s thru 1980s.
The lighter the better.
Alan Gregori not that much money though....I can buy a well optioned Ferrari and still get Ferrari stick on my button. A luxury car with wonky navigation, a Porsche with engines warranties because they may blow or Mclarens where they catch fire. Idk why people set such high standards for Lotus but are ok getting it up the ass else where? But yes the Lotus brand is a great one and Colin Chapman pioneered some amazing F1 engineering! 😄
That's the same with a 2010 jaguar xkr with the battery. Touch screen constantly crashes. Lights either not working or it flickers misleading car information. I believe its gonna be like that with new common cars now. Other then that the 4 out of 5 is pretty simple replacement
Agreed most of these are simple fixes and on my list of things to do. I did not know this was an xkr issue as well
you took the Lotus minus Lotus of all, the real lotus are Elise \ Exige, the Evora is an atypical Lotus, ps the Lotus must be driven with manual gearbox I have an Elise s220 CR-S and I'm crazy 900 KG in running order

Samy Belmont I wanted white on red and could not find one with a manual as well! It’s not too bad and decently quick (no pdk). I have a small software issue with it that I hope to find more info on soon

I have an Evora S automatic. I was absolutely going to buy a manual......until I tried the auto. It works fine.. sure it’s not a DSG, but it’s half the weight of a DSG and still changes gear way faster than you could with a manual. I changed out the supercharger on mine for the TVS 1900 from Simply Sports Cars, Melbourne Australia. Feels just like a factory fit, but gives about 420 Bhp ( din)
Very good list. We'll done. Bottom line is no car is perfect. A person could spend a million on a Ferrari and it still won't be perfect.
If you had to choose which car would you keep the M3 or the Evora ? i own a M3 at the moment .
They are two very different cars. But, if I had to pick one it would be the Evora. It's a much better driver's car from an engagement perspective.
Low key look like a veggie tale character 😂 but in all seriousness, I just took delivery of my new Evora got, it’s very good quality as far as the things you mention in the video but also, it’s got quirks as any $110 car would. Personally I like the thought of me being able to own this lotus for 10+ years with no major out of pocket fixes/ low maintenance cost.

Get yourself a caterham 620r , much quicker, real car, no frills. If you don't like the lotus. Xx in fact for what the lotus costs compared to a ferrari there's no comparison apart from a ferrari isn't as reliable and has more gripes than the lotus, just get a caterham 620r .

I'm thinking about trading in my Audi TTS to get one of these. Are they a car that you can actually daily drive? as this would be my main car. I don't really care about practicality that much as I'm single. My other option are Porsche cayman, New Toyota supra or a BMW M2. Also what is the sound system like on these? I love some music whilst I drive. Great video by the way!
Trap Jokes you can absolutely daily drive this car. It’s amazing how DD friendly it is. Equal to your other cars on the list minus some unnoticeable creature comforts. The audio system is sub-par but gets the job done (it's no selling point). Definitely go check one out of you can.
I saw your dash “bubble” at about the 5:35 mark in your other Evora (5 things I love about...) video.
haha yup the infamous dash bubble is such an annoying sight! Hopefully I get it fixed here soon.
One thing I hate is the cars are too short

I wanted a white on red Lotus and the auto was the only one on the market. I'm also not an I need a manual guy, so the auto doesn't bother me. :)

Keep the video’s coming! Hopefully my next car... in regards to tuning, give the guys at BoeFab a call, almost positive they offer tunes for the 400 series as well as headers, upgraded supercharger and a few other things.
Most definitely, I can't wait to hear about which spec you pick up when the time comes! I will have to checkout BOE again and see what they might have. :)

Right, the worst kind of people. The reality is we don’t even need all of that power (600,700,etc.) we can’t even use it! But a 4C and a Lotus you can truly enjoy its driving performance 24/7!

I watched about 16 seconds of this, enough to see that this car has an AUTOMATIC GEARBOX.!!!!!!! Who on this earth would buy any proper sports car, especially a Lotus with an auto box??? I can only think that you must use it to tow a trailer
both my sportscars are autos? So I guess there are people out there that do. I'm not a manual or die person either. I can appreciate a manual but I do not lose sleep over it :) If my next car is a .2 GT3 I'll probably get that one in manual.
@@boostedtrav Some people just don't get what driving a sports car is all about. Auto boxes are for heavy traffic and cruising NOT FOR SPORTS CARS. Please do not encourage manufacturers to ruin their sports cars with these horrible experience numbing slush boxes.
@@oldsoulboy6483 everyone has the right to an opinion. Too bad the sales numbers don't align with your opinion and I haven't heard it ruining the experience. But you can certainly feel that way. 😄 I certainly would have preferred a DCT, but my auto in the lotus hasn't taken away from my handling experience when driving.
