    I had this knife for 5 years and loved it . It broke into pieces the other day from me beating it with the corner of a big split price of wood. I emailed shrade and the said send us a pic and we'll have one to you in 7 days. I just got it and hey what a great company!

    Schf3n is a replica of a Chris Reeves Pacific, that design is highly sought after.

    Glad to see that you actually used the knife during your review. You mentioned that there are probably other knives that might be "a much better choices" for under $50, I'd like to see you review those!

    I didn't know about that model Schrade. 8cr is an ok knife steel. The price isn't bad but that sheath, smh, I really don't like that nylon box but, it's an easy fix. I gotta say I like the knife. Learned something new about Schrade! Great review! You also like the same peeps I do (DBAD & Scab), I subscribed too...

    Damn..thanks for the shout out brother! That was nice of ya.
    I've been thinking of picking up some budget blades like this just so every fixed blade I show isn't a $200 or $300 knife. Not everyone can or is willing to buy knives that steep.

      @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem brother, ya don't discount cheaper knives they make good content and you can learn from em too. I've seen several cheaper knives that I really liked the design but the materials were crap, all in the pursuit of the perfect knife lol.

    Watched this video again and nothing wrong with this knife. Just a matter of personal preference and who can afford what. Great video man. I enjoyed it again!

      Thanks again and no theres not, honestly ive had knives that cost more not perform as well lol. If I wanted to take the time to modify the handle it would be alot better, of course thats for me lol for others it may be just fine. The steel and heat treat seem to be fine, there was no edge deformation or anything. I forgot to add in after I cleaned it up and the only marks on it was the spine from that ferro rod, otherwise couldn't even tell it had been used so not to shabby imo lol.

      To be honest I haven't used it a ton since then but there hasn't been any issues in the time I have, im not sure what your use case is or why you're considering the schrade but...I just picked up the Eafengrow EF-143 for $70 on Amazon and it's really nice. I'm going to do a review on it as soon as I can get a nice day lol its been really windy here, from what I have seen from others it sure looks to be solid but I don't know if its what you're looking for lol.

      @@alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548 I like the style & look of that knife, especially the micarta handles, it just looks old school and it does look like a Chris Reeves knife too, but without the hefty price tag on it. Schrade does come out with a very good & solid knife once in a while and I figure it must be a good one since it's sold out everywhere except for one place out in the West coast. I gotta just try it out.

    Hey happy to see another video from you. I have this knife I think it’s a good budget option. I bought this before schrade sold off the company. There is better out there for sure. But good collector for me! #22aday

    • @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548
      @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya I dont hate it, I just think it could be better. If they slimed down the handle scales a bit and shaped them a little better I think it would be much better lol, and so far the coating stayed on which usually doesn't happen lol.

    Schrades are not as good as people think. The steel is poor, both in quality and on it's heat treatment. In my opinion, some of the worst I have tested. At that category and price, the best options are Becker like of knives, made by KA-BAR. For more advanced users, who know show to reprofile or fix some flaws on knives, to make them work as they should, then Terava is another excellent choice. Manly knives, are also up there. They make general use outdoors/camping' knives (They also make great folders) Their heat treatment is second to none, best D2 and full flat geometry bevels, in the market. PS CR Pacific, is a way beter knife of course, no comparison at all. However, it still lacks one of the most important factors, which is the proper steel for that kind of knives. That being said, the BEST Survival/Soldiers or combat knife, you name it, is the TRC Mille Cuori. That knife is closest thing to perfection and easily, the BEST Soldiers production knife ever made.

    1095 is probably the most overated steel ever. It rusts like hell and it's edge dulls by it self, even if you don't use the knife (oxidizes from the humidity in the air) The only company that makes decent 1095, is not Esse (another overated knifemaker here) but TOPS. 1095 isn't the worst, don't get me wrong, there are just so many other inexpensive, but way higher quality steels out there, that can't hold,at least me as a metalurgists and knife enthusiast, from not saying. how much overated 1095 is.There are 80crv2 , 52100 and so many more steels! 1095 is also thought to be super tough, but in reallity, it's not at all. Most known super stainless steels, that people thing are less tough, are actually tougher than 1095, same goes for O1. Not as tough as people think it is.

    • @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548
      @alphaomegasurvivalsupply6548  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1095 is definitely not my favorite, its more like my bottom preference. In this case I said 1095 because I referenced Esee and both are familiar to people. There is definitely many steels better than 1095, many worse than 1095, but I've never had 1095 fail and have had cheaper alphabet steels fail. Steels are personal preference just like handle material, grind, profile etc. But if your a metallurgist definitely comment the benefits and disadvantages of steels and such in a way people can understand, im no specialist just been using knives all my life and im no spring chicken lol.

    • @fixedbladejunkie9532
      @fixedbladejunkie9532 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure 1095 may be over rated. But I've never had any of my 1095 blades both from esee and becker fail on me. Nor do they just dull from not being used. 1095 takes a hell of a beating. So not sure of the problems you've had. 1095 has always treated me well.
