Turkey is A Muslim Nation therefore it should be Islamic.I dont understand why it wanted to be white European in the first place. Ataturk introduced a westerned kind of world that didnt make things better but instead it stripped Turkey them from their identity. The Ottoman Empire and their rich heritage. I think Turkey should have the freedom for religious expression hijab or not they should all work together to improve the social and economic structures while keeping their secular and religious identities and Accept ONE another. Why is this hard?

    • @catpyjamas

I agree completely. You will find Turks in Turkey who brag about their göktürk origins while forgetting the Ottoman Empire thanks to the ideologies encouraged by a despotic dictator they worship. Yet what were the göktürks ever? A chaotic bunch of people whose history is just coups and wars all the while they were slaves to greater powers like China. They had no mind of their own, they just went with whatever great power was at the time.
They will brag about that, but forget the Ottoman Empire that ruled the world? And then after ataturk, we see the return of one coup after another with one despotic dictator replacing the other. These same people claim to support secularism and democracy, yet war and coups are all they know. We see yet again their attempts against Erdoğan. They couldn't win with their repulsive ideology pushed with words, they have to create a civil war to force it on the greater population of Turkey. These guys are a cancer to the country they claim to love, their media outlets constantly bash the Turkey they claim to love.

I am absolutely disgusted that a Muslim state took away the right of a woman's right to wear what she wants. To force women to strip themselves from wearing something is as disgusting as forcing them to wear something as in Saudi Arabia and Iran. As long as people are not breaking normal decency etiquettes, nobody has the right to dictate what anyone wears.

Because it says so in the Quran and that's how you were raised, that's the real reason. Do you also believe that men are above women as it says in the Quran (2:228)? We should strive for a modern, co-equal and secular world. I have no problem with women having the liberty to wear whatever they please, as long as they recognize the freedoms of others to do as they please (and worship who they please).

Turkey and USA's constitution are based on same principles and based on Democratic Republican rule, everyone should be equal and no one can be "more" equal than others. Problem with this ban removal is AKP doing it if another non religious party would do it it wouldn't be problem as they would include every religion or belief in that package not just headscarf.
