- Sometimes it just feels like everything is going wrong. Not my most successful wild camping trip to Dartmoor.

Lol it's a great video man, I like your clobber, you really blended with the landscape, that was good. The camera work on the moors was beautiful and stunning, I love Dartmoor, that was good. The sheep with two colours means it's been successfully mated by the male lol, the video was epic, shame about the pole and drone, I think everyone understands we all get dealt a bit of that along the way. It didn't stop you putting out a stunning video though.
My mate paints his drones dayglow red and puts a few bits of reflective tape on them, you can see it easy in daylight and shine a torch around at night and it shows up with the tape. Makes them a lot easier to spot if they go down. Doesn't help the ones he gets stuck in trees sadly.

I lost a video camera in there when I was out with Wiltshire Man a couple of years ago. As for the rest of it, I'm going to email you my phone number, your truck was parked 3 miles from my house. I could have brought you a pole or put you up for the night. As you know I'm out with Carl this weekend but if you email me roughly where you think it maybe I'll go out next weekend, I know the point where you filmed that segment but rough direction of flight, river left or right would be good.

Losing a drone is heartbreaking. I only lost a £20 one from Lidl, but it still cuts deep.

Thanks for sharing the bad times as well as the good, I'm sorry you had a rough time but I think it's really important for creators to share when things go wrong so our sense of reality doesn't get all skewed thinking life should be nothing but perfect sunsets and instagram-worthy dinners. People already hold themselves up to unrealistic standards, it's refreshing and I'm always grateful to see honest content like this that reassures me I'm not the only one who has absolute disaster days!

Enjoyed the lovely scenery in your video. Excellent and really relaxing to watch. Gave a really good feeling of the beauty of Dartmoor. Worth you taking a spare collapsible alloy pole in your pack, not heavy, but a vital piece of kit. Keep up the v nice vids!

If you have a DJI DRONE, then just go on find my drone within the app, it will take you straight to it
I was going to say the same. The transponder can last a couple of days apparently.

Well, you did better than the last time I was on Dartmoor (winter 76-77). Our survival exercise turned real when the snow came down, and helicopters were dropping hay to stranded and starving sheep. We had radio contact, and a schedule for updates - we could have been pulled out, but as we were coping they let us be, and a long weekend turned into 10 days. But it was frickin' cold!

Sorry to hear about the disaster with the drone and pole. Thanks for keeping the films so honest and showing your experiences good and bad. We enjoy these a lot and has made us get out and try stuff as well as the cooking. Keep up the good work 👍

It's good that you felt it was worth posting this trip that didn't go to plan. Hope the drone loss wasn't too expensive but anything worth buying to use for youtube etc won't be cheap. At least walking poles aren't going to break to the bank. Keep up the good work, I always enjoy your uploads, your knowledgable presentation and your "jolly" personality.
Good on you for continuing to share what you’re doing despite being completely p’d off with your day. It really makes you feel sick when you loose something important to you, so well done for carrying on. I thought you might have lashed one of those bones 🦴 you found to the end of your pole? I am SO sorry about your gear mishaps, and the “failed” overnighter! But, in my view, the video itself was actually a success, and quite enjoyable: the sped-up time lapse of the that breathtaking sunset with the sheep skittering across the field was absolutely & unquestionably PRICELESSLY beautiful (and you likely would NOT have captured it quite that way if everything had gone according to plan)! Also enjoyed the sped-up footage of your path on the way back to your vehicle! And this was also a reminder that, yes- things can and do go wrong, so it was helpful to see how you handled it. So, like I said: this was a “win” in spite of everything (or maybe BECAUSE of everything!). ALWAYS enjoy your vids; thanks so much for your mild-mannered and engaging sharing! 💐💐💐

No need to apologize about anything it was still a great vid, I enjoyed the scenery immensely. If you ask me those sheep had your drone all that time and we're probably having a great laugh about it that evening.
I'm glad you posted this Andy, proving not everything goes to plan in reality and shit happens. You'll bounce back mate, thanks for posting this video, it would have been easier not too. Positives, you had a nice walk on the lovely moors and have one and a half walking sticks lol.
Didn’t even get to camp, but yet it was still a quality video, that’s why I like Kent survival!
Oh crap! Andy you did the right thing packing it in this time, the thought of you filming in an extremely saggy, frozen and wet tent really fills my heart with dread! The Moors are hard places at the best of times, next time you'll smash it, just don't forget the Oh Boy hot chocky!

Just goes to show how the more technology you rely on, the more stress piles up on you.
I've camped under a Brit Army BASHA with poles that were under 3ft, once in the sleeping bag the tarp was only around 20+cm above my head, yes, it was crap trying to film it but still, it was a shelter and very comfy. andy definitely could still have camped overnight despite the walking pole mishap, then could have searched for the drone the following day.
With the walking pole that short, a simple plowpoint tarp setup (if andy had decent length of paracord) would have sufficed even without a tree!
Least you were out in the beautiful sunshine for a while, plus we got to see some scenery :) hope you find your drone.
As far as im concerned its still genuine content.
Beautifully shot and extremely well edited as usual.

Hey Andy. Can't you track the drones last location on app. You used to be able to on the DJI app
didn't have gps set up.. rushed to use it.. my fault

The scenery was beautiful and beautifully videod. Then, on the way back you DID show us the lovely dartmoor ponies. NOT a lost trip for us. But I would have been deeply disappointed, too, if I was aiming for a camp out.

Thank you for sharing this Andy. Thimgs don't always go the way we want and we can learn from that. I went camping once to discover I'd accidentally pick up a camping chair bag instead of my tent bag. It turns out if you lie on a tarp and roll yourself up in it like a burrito you can stay pretty warm. Bloody uncomfortable though. Chin up mate, at least it was stuff that got lost and not you.

i lost a camera tripod on Dartmoor a few years ago, i spent hours looking for it as it was an expensive one, at least your safe and well Andy, we all have total failure on a trip now and then, keep the vids coming and if you ever feel like having some company on the moors send me an email as im local to Dartmoor

No need to be sorry for the video length, thats real life and the real outdoors some times. Its nice to see someone showing sensible choices when things aren't going perfectly. You didn't take risks and make stretched decisions that might have cost you more than financially. I tip my hat to you for this video and all your videos and especially your cooking prowess over a fire.

What a nightmare!! When stuff like this happens you just have to shrug and laugh. You got back safe, that’s the main thing. All part of survival and you took the decisions you had to make when you had to make them. It’s the things you don’t expect that really challenge you. In that sense your trip was a success.
You did well not to lose your rag completely. I hope you get your drone back. Thanks for sharing , atb.

There are plenty more good trip's ahead Andy. I had a trip just last week that turned into a total s*** sandwich. An overnight snow-camp that I had planned for day's. Couldn't wait to get down and back to my truck. Only to find that a Forest Service vehicle had me blocked in. 😣😡 Oh well---what do ya do? Just get ready for the next one. Take it easy man. Be safe.
