Iem with silicone obvious seal better and sound more delicate in a closed sense, but comparing flathead to iem is just like comparing headphones to iem, headphones will always sound different and bigger because of physics and larger size of the driver.
Had some random Philips (or sony? forgor) flathead earbud that sounded very open and nice. Maybe even better than my current IEM, but not sure, as its lost now. Maybe its something about flatheads not being pushed in the ear canal that makes them sound nice?

Man I love flatheads, does this work great with rock? Not heavy metal, just soft rock, like Stones, U2, etc...
