Rotten grass is also a good attractant. It's not attractive to house flies nor fruit flies.

@@jemmujemi4247 yes if you want to attract just black soldier fly rotten grass clipping is a good substrate. Since there is no fermenting fruits there won't be fruit flies and since it is doesn't have a putrid smell or taste sweet it won't attract house flies.
