The device came with an official emulated version of Crash Bandicoot, which was considered the official PS1 emulator for the device/android. People eventually found out how to inject their own games into the emulator. If you use it this way, nearly any game is perfectly playable via this official emulator. Search for PSXperia if you're curious!

This phone was waaaay ahead of its time. With increased popularity in mobile gaming phones like the Razer Phone, Asus ROG phone, and others and how big mobile gaming is in Asia, I think an updated version of this phone would be a lot popular. This came out when Sony was still focused on the PSP and about to release the Vita so it fell short on a lot of areas like having it’s own games. But now that Remote Play is a thing and the Vita is out of the picture, there’s a lot of potential for a successor. Just the fact it has dedicated gaming controls makes it convenient for gaming/remote play vs competitors. Don’t wanna carry a Bluetooth controller all the time or some attachment.

This thing suffered a similar fate to the vita sadly. The razor phone and asus rog phone are gaming phones, but they are phones first with no real noticeable difference spec wise to competitors besides high refresh screens and company addons. If there was a legit gaming phone like a ps vita or switch with physical hardware and media, it would still bomb due to that market pretty much being dried up if history has anything to tell about past attempts in the last 20 yrs.

Same, I had recently got a Sony Ericsson Xperia x10 mini pro and then this came out and I wanted it so badly, what made it worse was that my friend got this phone and would always be playing it during form. I was so jealous, but now that phone long since died and my mini pro is still complete in it's box, it's a little worn and scratched but works perfect. Shame the android market ended support for android 2.1 a few years ago but I suppose downloading APK's online for it would still be easy.

Imagine a newer version of this that supports up to Vita games and is a decent Android phone. It would have usbc, so you could charge and output it to a TV. It would have Bluetooth for your controllers. It would be the most amazing all in one kinda device, with all the Sony and Android games and apps available to it.

too bad it's not the manufacturers fault but ours!! we just go and buy phones of the manufacturers who are lazy to innovate and hence being able to keep their costs down. so we are seeing products which are equally the same now.Sad part is the manufacturers "USED" to innovate are almost nonexistent now

Nothing sad about it. It just is the way it is. It's what the people want. Phones that are different from that look don't sell well. The "gaming phones" are not going well. The design of all "flagships" nowadays is the same because that is what works best. Try and design something bezel less. It's going to look like everything else that tries to do the same. Quit whining and you come up with something different.

You can't beat the convenience of built in slide up controls that is quick, compact and hidden. Wanna play? Just slide up and your done.
Carrying around a bulky controller, having it get it out and put it on your phone and having to connect it everytime and vice versa. It gets annoying.
