Honestly as a life long sonic fan i was STILL suprised to hear this shit as a sonic track. I know they've had iconic rock songs like all of crush40's stuff in the past but even that hit me nowhere near as hard as undefeatable did for the first time listen. I genuinely sat in disbelief on the little tip screen that pops up when the song starts during the fight and was just like "holy shit, these mfs went nuts on this track". Tomoya Ohtani is such a legend for being in so many of these banger tracks through the years. Also I heard he played the frontiers songs on a nine string which is pretty sick.
The full version of the song rocks so hard. You should really check that out. The Sonic games' soundtracks have a long history of being so badass. And a lot of them are very rock-heavy. And previous vocal songs from other games in the series have some pretty diverse music genres. But Frontiers' vocal songs are pretty much the first time they've gone into the metalcore genre, I think it's called? Oh, and one more thing? This is the song for the game's FIRST boss fight. The songs only get more epic from there.
I think one of the coolest things about this game's release was seeing musicians and experts discovering Sonic music. Sonic music since the 2000s has generally been in the rock genre, but Sonic Frontiers went pretty relentless with it. It's all music for the boss fights. There are 3 other tracks in the game like it, Break Through It All, Find Your Flame and I'm Here. The rest of the game takes on different genres including EDM and atmospheric orchestral.
Yooo! When I heard this I thought "maybe I should tell hoopsick about this". Got sidetracked though. Definitely check out "find your flame" next and maybe "break through it all". This soundtrack slaps. Also. Sonic music started to lean more towards rock and metal in the early 2000s. Highly recommend "all of me" from shadow the hedgehog.
Sonic's had Rock music in his games since Sonic Adventure back on the Dreamcast back in 1998. sonic has dipped back and forward from rock to orchestral rock(Sonic unleashed and 06), to more of an electronic sounds, there was a bit of upbeat pop scattered around in some of the games, and back to rock again. a lot of it was done by a Band called "Crush 40" and has a colossal fanbase, lots of great songs for levels, bosses, character themes throughout the past 20 years that are worth checking out, since regardless of if the game played good or not, the music of Sonic games never failed.
A brief history, Sonic games is practically known for the music and music at this kind of quality is unheard of, because the fact that this song in particular had more screamo included and actual heavy metal in can be jarring, since the old games had rock and metal, it was more lighthearted, fun to listen to and it didnt feel this heavy the past decade the games had dwindled to more orchestral and lighthearted campy nonsense, something you hear from the mario games Sonic Frontiers not only brought back the style of music the series is well known for, it cranked it up ten fold as an epic piece, as you had seen here, before 2010, it was practically common place that the music makes the whole experience feel epic But this here, this is just the first boss, there's more bosses with just as hardcore songs as this one
The majority of reactions to songs like this with Sonic usually come with reactors stating they know Sonic only from the oldschool days and are surprised to hear music like this from the series. 1. The music back then was pretty awesome too. 2. The music of Sonic has always been pretty awesome. One of it's more consistently good features while the games themselves are often good and sometimes fluctuating in quality. 3. The music in Sonic is DIVERSE. There's rock, heavy rock, lighthearted, rap, jazz, classical, orchestral, epic, techno, dubstep, metal, etc. 4. THIS song is a BIT unique for the series, but we've had metal and heavy butt rock prior to this, yes. Check out SONIC BOOM (the Song, not the show), Open Your Heart, Live and Learn, This Machine, Team Chaotix (theme), What I'm Made Of, I Am (All of Me), Never Turn Back, His World, His World Zebrahead version, Un-Gravitify, Infinite Theme (Sonic Forces), Vandalize (Also Sonic Frontiers) There's also an explicit version the band has for their own album separate from the game), I'm Here (also Sonic Frontiers) This isn't a list of songs to react to. Do what you want. Just saying rock is in the series. There's plenty other different genres of songs in the series to listen to. lol
Bro when I first heard it when I reached the firat boss, I became a button mashing speed demon, hitting all the combos, all the counters dodged just about every hit and if I did get hit, I just tor it up even more, it was epic and I love it! 😆
Since The Adventure games back in 2000's Onwards, Every Sonic Game would have a Main Theme, as well as several character themes and other alternate themes ranging from mostly different genres of Rock Like Crush 40, and sometimes branching off of those styles, even into other genres entirely. Make No mistake, There's a high likelyhood that if there's a Sonic game, a large portion of it's soundtrack will be well composed, catching, and perfect for whatever situation. If it's bad, then it's honestly an outlier, as even some of the worst Sonic Games will always have headbumpin' tunes to carry you along for the ride. This isn't New, but for a lot of people this games multiple main rock themes have been a nice return to form after the previous few years more techno esque outtings, among other things. Rock is far from new to the franchise, but it's been a while since a more gruff and textured sound like this for sure.
sonic music has always been incredible and memorable for sonic fans. its not always been metal, but has dabbled a lot in other genres like rock, rap, dance, electronica, and, of course, chiptune.
I think the first time they threw rock music into a Sonic game was Sonic Adventure, but not every game has had that, since. Basically, most of the music in this game is a mix of orchestral for the main worlds & the usual kind of background music for little mini games you have to play that are more like traditional Sonic, but they break out these songs for each of the boss battles once Sonic goes into Super Sonic & each boss has its own metal song.
Oh man you've just unlocked a treasure trove of awesome songs from the sonic franchise. Stuff like "Live and learn" "open your heart" "what I'm made of" "knight of the wind" And also just other songs from this game. Like "Break through it all" "find your flame" "im here" so many great tracks. And thats only vocals.
dang it ! i was hoping it was the full version but nonetheless it was a good reaction! (and yes, that song is the first boss battle theme. and vocals is a common thing in sonic games!)
To answer your question yes sonic's music has always been like this. But it depends upon which game you're listening from. I mean The man behind jet set radio music is maker of sonic rush music and God that music is good. And then there's sonic and the Secret rings which has good music. And don't get me started on Metallica madness of sonic cd and mainia.
all the ost in sonic games sounds like this ,please watch sonic adventure 1 and 2 ,sonic unlheashed, sonic 2006,sonic forces all the games sounds like this

People aren’t shocked that this is a Sonic song, they’re shocked that this is the song that plays during the FIRST major boss
And the other music of bosses aren't going too hard as it
Honestly as a life long sonic fan i was STILL suprised to hear this shit as a sonic track. sonic songs don't have a history of being djent, but they do have a history of being nonstop bangers

This soundtrack fucks so hard.
Honestly, metalcore is a really natural evolution of the rock songs by Crush 40 that Sonic fans grew up with.
Here's the thing about Sonic Frontiers: You don't expect a song like this to play during the FIRST BOSS FIGHT!!!
Yooo! When I heard this I thought "maybe I should tell hoopsick about this". Got sidetracked though. Definitely check out "find your flame" next and maybe "break through it all". This soundtrack slaps.

Yes that fight is in the game. There is more to that sound track and there are more themes and bosses. Sonic Team went all out on this one!

The show would be funny too.

NOOOO ITS THE SHORT VERSION
Sonic boss fights are known for there drastically different music to the rest of the game.
I think the first time they threw rock music into a Sonic game was Sonic Adventure, but not every game has had that, since. Your first reaction was priceless!
Some of my favorites are spider boss theme and transparent highway
All of the boss soundtracks in Sonic Frontiers go hard. The Knight boss theme called Find Your Flame is my favorite one though.
Sonic changed long ago lol
Infinite theme from sonic forces is the badass one.
They really didn’t need to cook this hard for a sonic game but god dam
"Its time to FACE YOUUUR FEEEEARR!"
Poster on the wall: "The only fear is no WiFi"
😂😂😂 BEAUTIFUL
listen to 'break through it all' next also from frontiers !!
so, i will let you know, almost every sonic game has good music, in fact that is the one thing sonic always has down. its the music.
Tyler Smyth also has a band of his own called Dangerkids, you should check them out!
Yo yo u should make a part 2 reaction of the rest of the songgg
You should really check out not only the full version but also "Break Through it All" and ESPECIALLY "Find your Flame"
Fun fact, in italian sega means jrking off 😂😂 I know bcz I'm italian

If you liked that one you HAVE to do "Break Through it All" and "Find Your Flame". Those are the songs for the OTHER titan boss fights.
Listen to find your flame next
Please check out "Break Through it All", also from Sonic Frontiers.
Back to my metalcore list I go.

Could you imagine if this had a breakdown, I think thats the only way they could one up this song. Crazy that Sonic ie like this now lol
This was only 1/3 of the song he did the wrong vid sadly
Be cool if you could listen to the full song plus the other 2/3 main boss themes. This was only like the first third or half of it
Bro, plz do react again to Japanese Metal/Rock Bands
