That's a lot of work. How satisfying to open the freezer with all that pastured chicken in it. Its nice to know that the birds lived a good low stress life. I imagine you can taste a difference in your birds compared to the grocery store chicken. Thanks for sharing!
My how times have changed. I can remember my grandmother wringing the chicken’s neck and watching it flop all over the ground. I can also still remember the smells when plucking those feathers🥱
Thanks for letting us know about chicken processing, Tiffany. You and your family are the best! 😃
Tyfs it was very educational to see how the chickens are processed. The best part is seeing all of the family time that y’all had together and teaching where food comes from
I was raised butchering hogs, beff, chickens and lots of other animals. So glad your working as a family to butcher chicken. All 3 of my boys know how to butcher stuff. Great job
This brought back a lot of childhood and young adult memories. It was always family time when we did butchering. But very good memories
Great video! I normally watch you by myself but I watched this video with my husband and 5 children and we were all invested in seeing you process your meat birds. We've been debating getting chickens 😊
I love that yall watched together! We're cheering you on!
It’s very interesting to watch people from around the world doing similar things. There used to be a family in Kenya and I watched them slaughter chicken. With the exception of the feathers, they use every part of the chicken including the head.
Thanks for sharing this Tiffany and reminds mr my grandmother Mary Mahaffey my name sake avd mt dad's mother dud the same on their house farm but she eould pick uo one chicken at a time ring it heck and head pop offed and she defeather it snd pluck it by hand and take to kitchen and fry it up and dad told me that was the best fresh fried chicken he ate.......gesmdma did it all but herself. Bc papa worked away from home had his own horse shoe business..... watching from Arkansas ❤ Mary
That was fascinating to watch Tiffany. Talk about fresh, paddock to plate!❤
Very informative even though I had to skip ahead a little bit since I’m a city girl…I appreciate all your hard work! Miss Linda ❤❤
Learned a lot from this video…real life. I enjoyed seeing the family working together!
Sorry don’t think I can watch this but thanks for giving me the opportunity too see how u process ur chickens personally I think it’s cruel after months of feeding them and looking after them u must have an heart of steel bless ya ur just on the food chain 😢love Claire from Bradford England 🏴 xx
There are different kinds of chickens. These are bred for meat. Bought and processed for feeding her family.
My grandparents were farmers. As grandkids most of loved watching them process chickens and even watching a few of the chickens run around with their heads cut off...my grandpa would kill the chickens and then douse them in hot water. He would pull the feathers off and my grandma, my mom and aunt would clean them well and in the freezer they would go.😊 some of my cousins wouldn't watch it..
Thanks for sharing but I don’t think I can watch I have a bad stomach have a blessed night friend 🙏
Wow! That is a dandy feather extracter! My grandparent had to pluck them by hand.😊
It's a game changer!
How interesting. I’ve never seen how it’s done before. Thanks for sharing.
We have a lotta chickens we eat their eggs and eat them too!!! I have my babies that are not not allowed to be eaten and then we have ones we eat when meat is short and we have the plucker with the drill!!
THANKS FOR SHARING
My chicken eating days are over. Lol
It's just part of the food chain. :)
Great video❤ I want one of those chicken pluckers so bad I've been plucking chickens by hand for years.
It's a game changer!
Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for sharing! We want to do this one day. When did y'all start getting into meat chickens? I feel like starting is the hardest part! We wanted chickens for over a year to have fresh eggs and finally bit the bullet and so glad we did. We have a chicken tractor, as well. 7 chickens 🐔
We started meat chickens 3 years ago. Convincing yourself you're capable can be hard... but let me be the one to tell you... you can do it! ❤️
@@OurSmallTownLife how do y'all kill them? 🙈
Growing up, my job when we butchered chickens was plucking feathers. Oh how I would have loved that feather plucking machine… 😊
Sure would have made that job easier. That's the job my kids fight over these days. 😆
Thanks for sharing!❤
Tiff,I love ya but i don't think i can watch this,i have a weak stomach,i'm sorry!
They didn't show the part where they killed the chicken & let the blood drain out, so it wasn't that bad.
@@belindaroberts3090 I can't help that i have a weak stomach
@@berthabyrd6898 gotcha
Awesome video, thanks
Great Job!
This was so cool 😎
Organic too 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼♥️
You’ll have a lot of chicken
Loved watching this, sometimes I buy chicken feet for my dogs and they love them.
Yes! They are so good for dogs!
That chicken looked good
How many chickens did you process
We did 20 on this day.
What do you do with the chicken feet love that kids enjoy helping
I add them to the broth I make. They are an excellent source of collagen!
I'm a new subscriber....Montgomery AL!! How many birds did you process?? ❤😊
We did 20 on this day.
I grew up watching my mom hand pluck. It was usually Saturday, then soaked in Salt where till Sunday then Sunday dinner. No wonder I have trouble with meat😂😂 sorry, I tried to watch but couldn't
I grew up with using your own meat but I don't like meat anymore bc I've seen how this is done. You have to have a strong stomach, I have very weak stomach. Now I know for sure I don't want no chicken. To each is own😅
Yea I don’t think I can watch this. Love ya girl
Did I miss it? How many chicken's did you butcher?
Out of curiosity do you use the chicken feet for broth or anything ?
Yes, I put them in broth. They are an excellent source of collagen!
How's these chicken taste?
They are the best!
im glad u didnt record killing them do you do it near the chicken coop do they other chickens see it
We dispatch about half way between the coop and where we finish the processing. The other chickens don't know what's going in. No stress.
❤❤
ARE YOU NOT SUPPOSE TO PROCESS ON A STAINLESS STEEL TABLE....
No. We use what we have. Just as long as it gets a good cleaning.
I only watched a very small part of this my heart could not take it anybody that can do this must have a very hard heart all animals have feeling and deserve love and care I can't believe some of these comments that someone could find this enjoyable is just crazy to me how can you raise these precious chicks and then kill em and eat em this is cruel 😢
This is the circle of life. I could not do the butchering but am grateful for those who do. I don’t think it is hard hearted, it is obvious how much they care for the animals and how well they take care of them.
Ur sooo right I read the first bit and turned off 😭😭 u see her in more a less every vlog tending too the chickens and feeding and watering them and harvesting their eggs chicken is sold in supermarket so no need too kill them on ur own property it’s sad poor feathered friends 😭😭😭 love Claire from Bradford England 🏴 xx
@@clairehewick798 I can guarantee you those chickens were processed much more humanely than the ones you buy at the store.
Please know this is coming from a place of respect....
If you choose to eat meat, simply purchasing it in the supermarket because that's easier for your "heart" is in fact the heartless act. Giving these chickens a quality life and then taking responsibility for the meat we eat is the best thing we could do as meat eaters. I live in one of the top chicken producing counties in the south. There's 6 chicken farms within 1 mile of my house. I know how those chickens live. Even the most well intended farmers can't give those chickens a good quality life. If you eat chicken then a chicken gave it's life. I don't know how buying it in the grocery store makes that more acceptable.... it simply just made it easier for you.
@@OurSmallTownLifeAgree 100% Tiffany. You stated that so well. Plus you know exactly what was and wasn't given to these chickens. So much healthier than grocery store chickens. Let's be real people chickens raised by individuals and not a business will have a way better quality of life. Don't get me wrong I know for a fact I couldn't do the actual killing or the plucking but once the head and feathers are gone I could do the other part of cleaning it and stuff. Serious question though how do you not get attached to the chickens? That's what worries me about ever trying this because once I start taking care of something I get so attached to it so any tips to kinda help distance yourself? This was a great educational video. Thank you so much for sharing with us and I encourage anyone who was offended by anything in this video to look up a video of how the chickens in the businesses are raised and processed for comparison. That way you can learn for yourself that as meat birds these chickens had the best life they could.
I think I'd rather buy my chicken. Don't know how you eat chicken after cleaning them. Yuk yuk I don't eat chicken anyway. But that looks so nasty. I use to see my mom wring their necks and clean them. No thank you😮
We've just decided that if we are going to eat chicken this is one way we can take responsibility for the meat we eat.
