  • In this video, we time travel from when we signed the agreement, to when the project was installed to see how everything turned out. We installed white framed, clear glass, with SB70 which is the LOW-E. This is what will help reflect the sun, keeping the interior much cooler in the hot summer months. Hurricane Windows are the best investment you can make in your home, add LOW-E and it becomes the greatest Investment !

Nice video. Suggestions; In April of 2023 I bought a house in the red zone of Tornado Alley. When we do the remodel I want the windows installed with impact resistance windows. I plan on using the Miami Dade guidelines, low-e. My suggestion is to also stress the security benefits that come with hurricane windows. I may need to add a tint if the POA has an issue with the green color of the low-e glass. I know most burglaries occur thru a door threshold. Have a nice day.

Is this just low-e or does it have a tint and low-e?

What about at night? Is the low e glass highly reflective in the interior of the home at night? Can I see outside at night or is there an obstructive reflection at night when looking outside?

Excelente video!! Question: ¿the low-E is more expensive?

Hello Oscar ! The Low-e is a bit more expensive, but definitely worth each penny !

I have a question, is there a way to give it a grey tone to those windows?. I like to put those but my HAO does not allow that green reflective color, they need to be either clear or grey. Thanks!!

Hello, unfortunately there is no way around the green look that comes with the LOW-E. We have seen HOA that say on paper that they won't accept it, but when presented with the facts that this helps the efficiency of the home, saving you money, they really can't say no. Plus, it's only "reflective" during the day, at night it will almost be clear. Hope this helps

@@callejaswindowsanddoors6845 thank you!, that clarifies my doubt. Unfortunately I live in a townhome where all glasses need to have the same color and that one stands out during the day. I already tried with them. Thanks for the clarification.

Are these IG units or monolithic laminated glass?

Hello Greg, the windows in the video are laminated glass, we do not use much of the IG glass as if there are any defects in can cause humidity to enter and get stuck in the glass and Humidity is something we have a lot of down in SF

@@callejaswindowsanddoors6845 I honestly wouldn't be concerned about longevity issues when using IGU's (inner lite laminated) in your climate, assuming that they are manufactured using top-end materials and methods, but I also don't believe that they are necessary in South Florida, either.
Since ES is using a triple silver LowE coating between the lites of the laminated glass (green tint gives it away), and since enclosing the LowE coating between the lites of the laminated glass does not affect the SHGC, it does negate the U factor advantage of the coating so that U factor isn't any better than it would be using monolithic glass of the same thickness.
I know that U factor isn't a major concern down where you are, but there are still energy codes that require at least a little better than plain monolithic glass, so curious if ES uses a surface 4 coating to meet that requirement, or are they making up for it in some other way?

The windows pay for themselves. Safety, Security, Electric Bill, Insurance and the A/C will work easier and last longer, you increase the value of your property.
