There is a Kuo-Toa monitor in the monster manual, it's a variant to the whip in a green box on the page with their lore. It punches lightning.

This was great because the more I learn about these guys the more I love them. Then again I also really find the lore of Orks in Warhammer to be fun too, so maybe I just enjoy the crazy belief is actual power thing they have going

One of my favorite monsters to use in the game. Excellent lore behind them and just overall a fun monster that players don’t generally see coming.

An important thing for a fantasy world with sapient underwater species is making life under the sea as complex as above, and figuring out how those two "worlds" interact.
Imagine how human history would be altered by the sea being to dangerous for us to interact with.

I just had my players run into a few Kuo-Toa on Saturday at the end of the session; if this isn’t perfect timing I don’t know what is. Lol.

I imagine sea elves as being the fantasy equivalent of a seal. Where koatoa are more akin to mud skippers.

My players in Out of the Abyss are now well acquainted with the Kuo-Toa. The PCs had fun vomiting and urinating on the statue of the Sea Mother. (a great show of respect)
Unfortunately, the fact that Kuo-Toa own slaves made my players sad. :-(

I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the mad dungeoncast!
Good day m'lords! I'm happy to say all seems well in the lands of knowledge and laughter. I wasn't able to find any cultists of that fungal wench, so I can breathe easy for now.
These kua-toa...odd little creatures they are aren't they? They seem so weak, yet after developing crippling madness and being enslaved they have still created a somewhat functioning society. They even created gods. They are not to be underestimated, on the marrow I set out down into the underdark on an expedition. I will investigate something...
Ps. Don't eat burritos before departing, don't want to fart in the underdark.
Addiction satisfied for another week, thanks guys.
Honestly the kua-toa back story is literaly just the backstory of undertale, but darker.
Also they remind me of falmer from skyrim considering they dwell underground and have basically devolved in a sense.

Also forgot this, but I wanted to mention that some fish really are viscous. My mom kept beta fish when I was growing up. Before she knew better she kept one in the same tank as her other fish. It killed them all. I remember one of the fish swimming around with its eye hanging out after having been attacked. Female beta fish are beautiful, but beta fish are mean. After that she knew to keep it in a separate tank.

I think it kinda makes sense that there are a lot of fish like humanoids in d&d, I mean there's mostly fish down there so that is probably reflective in the aquatic races. I'm sure there are like whale and octopus and crustaceans races too

Bane is alive, he became the patron deity of Thay, which is ruled by the lich Szass Tam. The nobility of Thay, as of the Second sundering, are predominantly powerful undead.

There is no defense for under dark humor:
A kua-toa walks into a bar and says "Blip DOOL pulp".
The bartender slams a bottle of his finest grog on the counter, points at the Kua-toa and says "If you believe you can pay, I'll serve you!"
The Kua-toa gurgles nervously for a moment, throws his hands in the air and shouts "Dool PULP!" and a pile of gold coins appears on the counter in front of the bartender, spilling onto the floor, knocking over a few glasses and drawing the attention of all the other patrons of the dingy pub. The bar tender stares at the pile of coins for a moment, then suddenly, like a ninja, snatches up the bottle of grog and smashes it over his own head in a flourish. With grog dripping out of his own beard the bartender points at the Kua-toa and says "no matter how hard you try nothing will ever work out for you!"
    >drum roll< >cymbal<
    ...

You guys have to checkout the Aeroian and Core Spawns in Explorer's Guide. That book is the best purchase I've made in a while. Awesome spells, classes, items, monsters, adventures, etc. If you're running Saltmarsh, the adventures in Explorer's Guide to Wildemount are awesome for additional Saltmarsh content
