Solid translators, solid scholarship, solid translation! I love the NET Bible, and I'm so excited Tommy Nelson is printing it in some good formats
I became very convinced that NET Bible is very accurate. The most startling example is the translation of Genesis 3:16. Almost all of the recognized translations use the wording "will have a desire for her husband," which most interpreters link to sexual desire. Looking at the entire verse as being a judgment of God, I could not see how this was supposed to be a bad thing ... a curse.
Doing an extensive study on this verse on BibleGateway, I discovered that only the ESV, NET Bible, NLT, and the EXB (footnote) are in general agreement of wording that the woman would be in opposition to her husband (control, contrary, etc.).
This should put a light on the battle between the sexes, which began after the fall and continues to this day.

@@adamchan2379 Thank you for reading my comment and responding. I am a little disappointed that more people don't seem to care. Mistranslations are the source of so many misunderstandings that have historically divided us and have led to the creation of so many denominations who oppose each other.
@@BruceRHaskinSr I agree, is disappointing. Today's education system and language seems to have it's twist on many aspects, it can be very confused. I like the ancient language which is hieroglyphics that you can behold it, is so much more accurate. Modern language like English oftentimes speak chaos into interpretation because of lack of depth, it take longer communication and detour in order to bring clarity. Not that is bad, that's why English achieved international language easily in it's flexibility. Until these days, in societies the lack of awareness of differences in semantics of many languages leading people to be dismissive towards one another, it even happen in between couple and marriages. Is sad, but we put our trust & everything into the faith of Jesus, then We will be able turn these mess around according to His way. 🙏🏻
i literally know no one who think Gen 3:16 is referring to sexual desire. and the NET Bible is as loose as it gets
I bought a New English Translation. I love it. I read many Bible versions but none come as close to my heart as the NET

Discovering this work is a blessing, especially for Christians following Paul’s directive to “stop thinking like children” (1Cor14:20) & to step into their maturity in-Christ & move from ‘milk’ to ‘solid food’. So grateful for this translation! I found it not long after rededicating my life to Jesus. He used it to fed my love for the word and natural desire to understand as much as possible. I'm so grateful to everyone that made this translation possible, and was so generous with it!
I finally broke down and decided to get the 2019 update, full notes edition. I still like the ESV, but the NET is my first alternate.

I have bought the Abide NET today, after reading so many great reviews and that it is the most accurate version.

I just got a NET bible and it is MUCH easier to read then the other forms of the bible I own. I have the NKJV and NIV versions too which are fine to read but I'm not able to retain as much of my personal bible study reading those other versions. The NET bible reads more like a story book with characters which makes it much easier to follow.
One of the main problems with any translation is the existence of idioms ... figures of speech that exist in all languages. Although this translation claims is a literal translation, it is not. And, that's a good thing. Imagine translating the English idiom, "Can you wrap your head around this?" into another language. A literal translation, word for word, would almost be incomprehensible. The translator must not only understand the culture of the source language, but also the culture of the translated language.
The problem with translations of ancient Hebrew (not modern Hebrew) is we are not entirely familiar with ancient Hebrew culture and therefore not knowledgeable about the language's idioms or figures of speech. It takes an extensive analysis of the whole Tanakh before discovering that some passages do not correctly capture the meaning of the Hebrew text and to word the translated text closer to the original meaning.
To illustrate what this would look like, see the wording of Genesis 3:16 (NET Bible) versus almost all other versions.
The notes are magnificent. The Thomas Nelson maps are much better. My only complaint would be the sans-serif Hebrew Font which is more like an Israeli newspaper and just so alien to fonts in every biblical grammar or sacred text.

I really like the NET Bible. I have Bibles from all over the spectrum. What I find interesting about the NET is all the liberties they take with the text. Their translation of Jude 5 is dubious and they defend it on strictly theological grounds, which is telling about their methodology. I still like to have it on hand though.
how is their translation of Jude 5 dubious? if you actually read the note, they did not defend it on strictly "theological grounds" they used the same external manuscript support that they usually use throughout the rest of the NT
@@craigime except that translation of Jude 5 doesn’t have good manuscript evidence to support it. Thus they add a theological justification in an attempt to weigh the scales in their favour.

The NET Bible would be even better with book introductions and cross references.
They do have the "Abide Bible" in the NET version

Theology is weak sauce, so don't go postal like some temple Jesus or Jan. 6 for a loser president.

One might expect a deity, if there were such a thing, would be known by everyone or is fudging the title a bit.
The fraud of religious people is revealed by the failure rate of prayers in a children's hospital & the lack of mountains moving by verbal commands.
Theologians grant themselves the title without any input from a deity & then use fantasyland vocabulary in academic settings, usually as a podium jockey with clergyman dress.
But if I can't use my weak argument, then I don't have an argument at all.
Those arguing God, get their knowledge of deity from the same place they get understanding of reason.
Rather than a beacon of inspirational light, they are avoided like the old woman with too many cats. It was secular law & order ending the inquisitions & witch killing. Nothing fails like prayer in a children's hospital & even Jesus Christ proclaims faith is worthless if you can't get magic mountains to move when you practice verbal-command landscaping. No wonder Freud wrote the antidote to Christianity is literacy. These are the wolves in sheep's clothing, you know them by their works: Who has honor while suggesting a reality-God? As if we did not have the saying: God helps those helping themselves, because the fiction is known for a perfect record of nothing-doing. Moreover, it cannot be moral or ethical to suggest there is a god. As if one should respect the suggestion, we all travel with one foot in fantasyland, using a fantasyland vocabulary. It is religious vocabulary fascism finds useful. Law is authorized from fantasyland & the workings are a mystery, unknown to the non-believers among the oppressed.
