    Okay, I've got a few tips, as someone that has played Aeon's End waaaaayyyyyy too much. I apologize if this is a bit long.
    1. I always play with 2 mages myself, and I find that it's best when one of them focuses on damage, and one of them focuses on "economy" and support. The economy mage should be almost entirely about Aether production... in many battles they wont be dishing out much damage at all, as that's just not their function. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, the worst things that the boss can do are usually things like power cards, and power cards usually want Aether to discard. Most of the time, they want a whole bunch of it. The only way to have enough Aether to cancel the really big ones is to have a hand of cards that's pretty much just gems. And since you usually only have a couple of turns before that nasty card pops, you want those gems *immediately*. If you've got a mix of spells and gems, you're going to get hit hard frequently because you wont be able to stop those. But Outcasts takes it a step further. Those "wandering" minions simply cant be beaten with normal damage. 10 health, but spells only deal 1 each time? It's not happening. Just not viable to fight them that way. Usually, you want to get rid of minions really fast. The caster wont be able to do it, so much like power cards, you need large blobs of Aether to do it. AND, on top of that, there's a number of bosses that I often refer to as "Aether drains", as their special mechanics require you to spend alot to counter them. Arachnos from New Age is a good example of this. But, so is the boss in this video. You need good Aether output to destroy cards in that track, or to buy expensive ones. Sometimes though, you need to tweak this strategy a bit. Against Carrion Queen for instance, the economy mage will still need one or two low-cost spells in their deck early on, to prevent being overwhelmed by little things. Also, in most cases the spell caster will still need a gem or two, but there are often cards that the economy mage can buy that will make it easier for the caster to get stuff. In this playthrough, that 6-cost gem is perfect for that. Dont be afraid to spend big for the higher-cost gems, they're often quite useful indeed.
    2. For Xaxos, he's not super easy to use, but his cards are *really* strong. They can be game changers.... he requires a whole lot of charges for good reason. Obsidian Burst for instance deals 4 damage.... 3 times. Which means that's a whopping 12 that can be split between targets. Or you can focus it on one thing. Most minions will be defeated in a single hit from that crazy thing, or you can just hit the boss really freaking hard. Clarifying Light allows a player to open ANY breach (no need to focus, it just plain opens it!) and they get 2 charges, and they gain 2 life. AND, these abilities dont need to be prepped... the fact that they simply act instantly and dont clog up a breach is a very big thing in this game. And on top of THAT, since you're not buying them yourself, they dont slow your own deck down. Yes, they're a bit erratic, but they're generally things that can be helpful in any situation. On top of that, if you have a mage focused on Aether, it's going to be muuuuuuuuch easier to power him up. In normal playthroughs, the Aether mage will have occaisional dud turns (where there's not anything important to spend on) or just times when you do need to spend, but you have a bit of excess. That's all perfect for powering up Xaxos. It'll make him much easier to use. It also gets easier if you have cards available that can give your own mages charges, so if their own abilities are important, you dont need to spend as much on them, and that's more to give to him. It'll probably take some experimenting to really get the hang of using Xaxos, but there's a reason an entire game mode is centered around him, and also good reason why his ability needs so many charges. You might also want to check the rules, and see if cards that give mages charges can target him. I doubt it works that way, but it cant hurt to check.
    3. Dont put too much focus on cards like that Fang thing. The ones that say "do X thing when this supply pile is empty". If you're playing with 4 mages, yes, they can be good, because it can take hardly any time to empty that pile, and each individual player's deck wont inflate that much. But with 2 mages? The vast majority of the time... you arent going to empty that pile. And if you DO empty it, you've grabbed too much of one card, leaving you less room for other important things you might need. Your deck will be slow and bloated. Now, against this very specific boss, the fang card is better because the supply pile is almost not there at all. But against almost all other bosses.... that secondary benefit aint happening. Heck, the only other boss I can think of where it'd help is Prince of Gluttons, since he keeps eating the market.
    4. Always always always try to make sure you have enough breaches open so that you cannot have more spells in hand than you have open breaches. Having your hand clogged by cards you CANT use is really bad. At the very least, your caster should always have 2 open. It is often a very good idea to open the #2 breach immediately upon starting the game, if your mage is going to have more than one spark in hand at a time, or if you plan on buying a spell as soon as possible. And while it's tempting to focus on the 3rd and 4th breach, many times it's a better idea to open the 2nd one early and get those later. Even moreso if there are relics or whatever that can focus them for you. There are many cards in the game that can allow your Aether-focused mage to help your caster get their breaches open faster, get those if you can.
    With all of that though, always be ready to adapt. Sometimes a situation means you need to turn any of these ideas into something else entirely.
    For this very specific Nemesis though, I'm thinking that the Aether focus is the #1 thing that probably needs to be done, as one way or another you need to keep that track down. Even your caster mage should probably have a bit more gems than usual because you just need so much.
    In any case it takes a good bit of experimenting to really get the hang of any of this.... it's a tough game!
    Sorry, yeah, that was long, I'm not good at being concise.

    I think you should give it one more try.
    Also, as someone who doesn't get to play Aeon's End as much as they'd like, I'd love to see this continue.

    Actually, you can put the Glyph Tokens onto the cards on the dream mat. Since it says "Any card in the Supply" and not "Any supply pile". Key distinction as the cards on the Dream mat is still considered a part of the supply. Hope that helps.

    Hey Colin! I'd like you to try this nemesis again. And this time perhaps place some emphasis on what mages and market to use, knowing what you know now about the nemesis. Then you should be able to steamroll the dreamer!
    edit: I should clarify - i mean to discuss what market and mages you are bringing in order to maximise your chances. I would be interested in how you think.

    When is mission 3? I'm recording sessions of the digital AE game with a friend for hi channel tomorrow. It got me thinking we've been waiting for the follow-up of the game for a few weeks ;)
    I've started playing New Age with my partner and she loves it.

    Hi Colin, I have a question about Aeon's end, I have looked online but got even more confused with all the answers out there. I would like to get Aeon's end and was wondering what to start with?

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question Sean! If you have never played I would recommend either Aeon's End Legacy as that will teach you how to play and has an interesting story. Otherwise, if you want to be able to play expedition mode, New Age is a solid choice. If you are looking just for one off plays Ware Eternal has some of the most challenging nemesis. Hope that helps!
