Love this. We live in Fredericksburg VA and it’s a mess. Every day we drive it and have our 5th wheel. I need to be blind folded every time. lol. Safe travels.
That would be nice. We have a rally scheduled for this September. We'll also be in the Myrtle beach area this July. Will try to do some kind of meetup while in SC.
I-84 in Pennsylvania is one of the worst roads It has been under construction at least since 2014. It feels like you are Luke Skywalker flying on the Death Star with the 6 foot Jersey Barriers on both sides for miles.
Hi Chris and Katrina! Great video! The highway I hand been through is the one in between Utah and Arizona. Don’t look down it’s rough and your like on a cliff it’s dangerous on that road. I grab the handle all the time that’s above your head. I held on for my dear life. Colorado’s million dollar highway looks like this one. Never seen the one in Maryland. Been to Maryland years ago. To get to Virginia. I liked it there. We live in a beautiful country. Glad Alaska roads are good. Hope you have a great week and weekend and Happy New Year! 🎉🥂
I agree! I was always in the passenger seat during those rides to Utah. Dud it once in a class A with my brother I Keir my eyes closed. Lol! Oh we went down a down grade once coming back from California from Lake Tahoe. We took a different way home and it was not good that way. Didn’t look down at all. That’s a rough highway too! I prayed! 🙏 lol! See you both soon! Safe travels!
Hey guys great subject we have been talking about this area lot lately. One because we are sharing a drive next week that took us by a surprise a little it wasn't insane but different. But in about a month we are sharing a road in Oregon we may avoid in the class A in the future. We also avoided that one road to Tetons that has a 10 or 12 percent t grade that several channels talked about it was easy to just not take it last fall cause it looked crazy! I knew it was back to the future as soon as u said it!! LoL!! Surprised we never talked about what movie buffs we are we could have talked hours about movies!! Thanks for sharing the roads to avoid and so glad your telling everyone that Alaska is not that bad! Have a wonderful New Year!!
Never really thought about the roads so much until we started driving our class A. We'll have to check out those upcoming videos before our next trip out your way. You and Chris are defiantly into the movie thing. 😁 Wishing you both a wonderful and blessed New Year!!
Completely agree with the 95 through the Beltway and the 70 West of Denver. Hate driving through both those locations pulling our 5th Wheel….. However, the 93 from Vegas to Kingman is by far the worst ever!! Potholes everywhere you can’t avoid!! Stay safe, see ya soon!!
Bad News on traveling through Virginia. Travelers thinking about this route need to worry about I-81 Corridor Improvement Program covering the 325 miles in Virginia has 65 construction projects. Some have started, some about to start and others waiting on current projects to be completed. In addition, I-81 is Truckers Alley.
We will take the construction on 81 any day over the traffic on 95. Yes, there are a lot of truckers that travel down 81 but again it's still better than traveling on 95. Thanks for taking the time to watch and leave a comment.
The only roads for me we share; Drove semi load of beer from Golden to Seattle via I 70 . I've driven all the Mt. passes in the west and this event was my worst experience. I've even driven heavy haul. My brakes were smoking. Glad I'm retired.. And 3 times on Alcan, I lived in Alaska from 1978 1998. I enjoyed each trip one in 2005 also. I enjoyed each trip. The Canadians take care of their roads, especially in winter. So that's a plus! Happy NEW YEAR you two.
Thanks for sharing your experience, we appreciate the insight! One of my cousins is a trucker in Canada. The stories she tells are just crazy! Happy New Year!
Great info! We were shying away from Alaska, but with all 48 under our belt, we still want that badge 😂. Thanks for the reassurance ❤ and great music at the outro 👍
We took our 36 foot class A to Alaska (met up with Chris and Katrina in Seward). We towed our GMC Canyon and our friends were in a 45 foot bus towing an F250. All hwys in Alaska (mostly Canada) are completely passable but we didn’t go over 35 MPH when frost heaves or gravel near. Did fine! DID NOT take RVs on top of the world hwy! We left RVs on Tok and drove truck to Dawson Creek and Chicken, spent the night and then drove back to Tok! Go! It’s the trip of a lifetime!
😂😂I agree about VA section of I95 and MD drivers who like to drive slow on left lanes but recently I noticed I95 in SC section has becoming a problem…that is because while SC section is a 2 lanes interstate road, both NC and GA bordering states are 3 lanes so it is like traveling through an hour glass highway…🤨
I 65 south of Nashville, I 40 around memphis, and I 81 near Hagerstown. These will test the flight capability of your rig with all the uneven/missing roadway. Traveling on route 2 from Elijay, Ga up and down the mountain will test your brakes or lack there of.
We drove I-10 from Texas across New Mexico all the way to Arizona, and it was fine. In the cities it is a lot of traffic though. But that is to be expected. We HATE to drive at night, let alone towing! We avoid it at all cost. "Shame on You" LOL. 🤣 This was very fun and full of information.Thank you! - Jim & Michelle
We agree with you, the traffic in cities can be tough. Chris doesn't enjoying towing the jeep at night as well but sometimes it's a necessity for us. Looking forward to seeing you guys in a couple weeks. Have a great New Year!
I-59 from AL/GA border to Gadsden. Right lane each way is atrocious and will beat you and your vehicle. The locals who travel regularly travel left lane and politely yield to right lane for faster traffic in left. They are rebuilding, and have been doing so for at least 20 yrs!
So we are also very familiar with 95, it’s for sure a crap shoot with traffic and accidents. I’ve been on I10 in Louisiana, rough for sure. I think I70 through Indiana is pretty bad. Missy said PA drivers are the worst, LOL. Great list, can’t wait to drive to Alaska.
My family is originally from PA and the funny part is they say that MD drivers are the worst! LOL!! Your going to really enjoy Alaska. Stay safe and have a wonderful New Years with your beautiful family.
As a person who has held a CDL for 20+ years and I’ve driven the East Coast for an adult life since I had a license I 99% of the time take 84 to 81 and then just cut down around the Metro DC New York area. I don’t even bother with that 99% of the time even with a car.If I do use that one percent and travel through it is midnight going through New York in DC. But it doesn’t put that many miles extra or hours extra by taking 81 from 84 for me where I live in Maine.
Any experience on The Beartooth Hywy in WY and MT...pulling a travel trailer or larger ? Also wondering if you've ever experienced Rt93 from Arco, ID ( Craters of the Moon) north to Lolo, MT , across the Bitteroot range? And, any experience on Rt 12 in Washington between Packwood and Aberdeen ? Just curious as we are planning this for these roads this coming summer 2025. Thanks in advance! S.
I have to travel I-95 through Fredericksburg all the time because I live in Wilmington NC and my family lives in Fredericksburg Va. I can confirm its awful.
We take 301 around that disaster called 95! Coming from Jersey down into Delaware and then 1 to 301 all the way to Ruther Glen and hit 95 just north of Richmond. Then always take 295 around Richmond! Class A with Jeep towed.
I would totally agree on 95 near DC real 50 miles out. I had to work in Lenard town, Maryland, and one time, I followed GPS to find a store that sent me blelt way. Never again. Next time, I found back road hyway to get there. Would not want to take an RV through.
You mean Chris still does not let you drive the class A? Totally agree with I-95, when we lived in eastern Pa. I would either leave Pa. at midnight just to get passed Fredericksburg and if coming north, would get off (also in Fredericksburg) and take 17 northwest to Warrenton, then onto Leesburg, Gettysburg then east on 30. When we got here to AZ and took the motorhome to Lake Powell, just south of Page where 89 and 89A split, taking the highway to Page "Will" get you to become very nervous. Talked to the "Big Guy" alot on that stretch of road for it appeared to be 10% up in just two miles and narrow. JS. Till less then a month away!!!!! Be Safe and Be Well.
Yea, go figure.😁 Hopefully we will never have to travel the route through Page as I would be a hot mess!! Counting the days! Stay safe and stay well our friends.😊
Rough roads for sure but sometimes it gets worse with the wrong tires or shocks. Getting the best shocks helps but putting the wrong tires on can be brutal. Because most class A rigs are equipped with 22.5 tires some people mistakenly put tires on that are meant for a semi truck with a much higher weight rating. In fact sometimes not meant to be on the steering axle 😮. Stick to what the OEM recommended load and speed rating or you're going to need a kidney belt. Art
Unless the infrastructure bill has finally gotten to that area. We had massive reconstruction projects almost continuously from MN to Texas this past winter. Love to see it on the one hand knowing it’s going to be better but during is a nightmare for RV’s!
We headed out yesterday just to be sidelined with fuel injector problems within the first 5 miles…ugh. Turned around and barely made it to the mechanic. Bleahhh…
I75 throughout all of Michigan makes I10 feel smooth like butter. With expansion joints pounding your kidneys at the rate of about once a second for hours on end it is perhaps the most torturous road in all the U.S. You'll be spending weeks retightening up all the screws, bolts, and fittings that vibrated loose. Yes, I10 is bad when it comes to expansion joints and potholes, but I75 wins the prize for rattling your fillings in your teeth as your back and kidneys get beat up. Best...
Don’t chip your teeth riding on I-90 in Indiana & Illinois! So many pot holes and construction disfunction. It’s always under construction and don’t seem to notice improvement?? And… you pay tolls for that pleasure.

Well that stinks. You would think they'd have it completed by now.
But it’s such a short distance compared to most of the roads. Only about 60 miles from the New York border of the Syracuse.
Great video and advice on some of the roads in this country.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Glad to hear the truth about the road to Alaska. That makes it a little less nerve wracking. We are planning to do this trip in 2028.
You guys are going to LOVE it!!
You ought to see the pot holes, here in England! The roads “used to be” pristine! 😮
That's a shame. Sorry to hear it. Wishing you a wonderful New Year!

I-75 in Michigan is just in awful shape near me, Detroit area here
The traffic in your area is pretty bad as well. Hopefully your staying warm up there with little to no snow. Happy New Year!
@@oureverydaygetaway no snow at all, warm and grumpy about it. Lol

I10 and I20 in Louisiana are both bad. We Travel both regularly.
Some of the worst area's for travel we've been through.

Thankfully we haven't had to travel I-59. Sounds like a road to avoid if at all possible. Thanks for the heads up.
Have to agree with you about I 10 in Louisiana. Horrible road! Million dollar highway is a nail-biter.
It is definitely a nail-biter!
We live outside of DC and we always avoid 95 with our travel trailer when we head south and take 301 past Richmond!
That's the best route for sure just hate all those lights.

Our number 1 is I10 through San Antonio. Our number 2 is I40 Eastbound at the Az border
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully we'll bypass both of those this winter.
I took 3 ferry's multiple back roads and enjoyed the outerbanks. But I drove enough passenger buses, and big rigs to stay out of or near DC :)
We definitely understand why you'd avoid DC. 😅
I81 to I77 to I26 to hateful I95 to Florida. Used to do that all the time from PA in the 18wheeler.
I bet you have a whole lot of crazy stories. Thanks for watching!

We never take 95 around the beltway.... ever. We take 17, to 66, to 81. Adds miles but saves time..
Ohio turnpike 80/90 is a mess continues in Indiana
Glad to hear you avoid that part of 95. We've got caught up in the traffic a few times and made the trip back to MD miserable.
