During my stay in Vienna, Austria this summer, I was fortunate enough to hear the Pummerin bell after St. Stephan's Fronleichnam's Mass. Apparently it's a big deal when they ring this bell
How come it was ringing in summer? When I looked at the table on Wikipedia, there wasn't any ringing between May and October. Was this a irregular ringing? I'm asking because I want to time my trip to Vienna so that I can hear this bell during my stay...
That is so cool.
It rang during the Fronleichnam (Corpus Christi) Mass, which occurs on Thursday following Trinity Sunday (the Sunday after Pentecost).
@Luke7195 Yeah, it was definitely not like the "average" church bell. I'd hate to be in the tower though. I'm pretty sure that's not too fun.
