    That looks amazing brother. This beats all previous. I love the no welding aspect and how you made it strong and did the curb.

    I just learned a trick from your video that is so easy yet brilliant. The tape trick for cutting with a hand grinder cutting wheel since ai don’t have a good metal miter saw will help a lot. Thanks!

    I admire your handiwork it’s nice to see someone use a hand file as much as I do. The best part was when you pulled out the tap! The thing is, how many pallets do you disassemble? I use a 4ft 4x6 and a 2ft 6x6 to prop up the runners and a dumbbell to pop the slats or vice versa. 10-15lbs pulls a board with 3” nails easy. Then just flip the boards tap the nails out, flip again and it’s quick work with a hammer or pry bar. Dumbbells are like multipurpose, I use em for anvils, a palm sledge hammer, extra hands etc!

      Yes there is so many ways to skin a cat, I made a few tools to take pallet apart, that I either gave or repurposed for the hardware. I like your way also, what is the percentage of broken boards?

    • @dirtyaznstyle4156
      @dirtyaznstyle4156 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RoomiesGarage I guess it depends on the state of the wood but thinner stuff is more flexible too. I try to go as close to the nails as possible but maybe 20% if it’s thinner wood. Most of the stuff I do is constructed of 2x4 or 2x6 lumber sometimes with the upc still stapled on the ends. There’s usually a few screws but once those are out it all comes apart with zero broken boards. I keep all the nails and sawzall the splintered parts off and I have 3’-8’ pieces of lumber. Some of the cross pieces have like 25 3” 10D nails, great for an overgrown backyard lol

    Pivoting arms could be higher and the top end of the short arm rounded over to give better support over the width of board.

    New sub here ! Your work is outstanding ! I mean NO disrespect, just a suggestion...... do you think it would still work using 1.25 or 1.50 inch wide material for the pieces that push up on the wood? From our camera angle it looked like the center piece causes a divot in the wood.

    • @RoomiesGarage
      @RoomiesGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A C channel instead of the 2 side pieces pushing on the wood. I appreciate your constructive comment. I want to make a pallet breaker with a car jack so I can use child labor hahaha but it still at the planning stage . Have a great day.

    A reciprocal saw is the fastest way to take apart a pallet.

    • @RoomiesGarage
      @RoomiesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree it dose a fast job and less braking of boards. But my 8 year old son takes them apart with my tool no problem but not comfortable with him running a reciprocation saw without direct supervision....so than child labor is out of the question... LOL

    This is for those who have no welding skills. Welding is a skill anyone can learn and you don’t have to spend a fortune on a welder. You could make a better pallet tool in half the time by welding it together.

    • @RoomiesGarage
      @RoomiesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I appreciate the comment, I have made basically the same tool with my welder and it took me almost half the time like you said and also less chunky.

    with all the metal, tools required, and time... wouldn't it just be faster and cheaper to order one ?

    • @RoomiesGarage
      @RoomiesGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do admit it takes quite a bit of time ,tools and materials to make what I did. It was a challenge not to use a welder. For me it was cheeper to make my tool because I had it all on hand. You can get the EZ bar pro if you want to purchase a good tool to break down pallets.

      Oh yeah...ordering one would have made quite the video; not to mention such a rewarding father/son project!!!!!
      Most parents in this world default to showing their kids how to purchase other peoples' innovations...usually because they unfortunately haven't the means and/or skills to show them otherwise.
      So when a parent has both, I for one, love seeing their kids WANT TO GIVE THEIR PARENT THE OPPORTUNITY to TEACH THEM HOW to NOT NEED to simply 'order' things.
