So my wife got this book for Christmas this past year, and for her birthday we did a big all day Hobbit Feast. We watched all the extended versions and had everyone pick 1 recipe for each meal time (Breakfast, Second Breakfast, etc). I think overall it's a decent book and most of the recipes we had were decent to good, but the instructions really leave something to be desired. The measurements are all over the place and sometimes vague, the timing was off on some things, and the lembas bread was somehow both undercooked and overdone (that could have been our use of GF flour). We made: -Honey Cakes -Potato and Scallion Rosti -Lembas bread -Walnut/Pear Salad and Prancing Pony Potato and Garlic soup -Turin Turambar Tarragon Chicken over smashed potatoes
Thanks for the detailed comment, it’s hard to gauge off of just a couple recipes and one thing I should have mentioned was the lack of pictures depicting what the dishes should end up looking like
@@FeastOnFilm of course! And for sure, I think that added to the vagueness of certain recipes. It's got some solid recipes but isn't super beginner friendly, and being at least flavored (lol) British it uses a lot of UK terminology for certain ingredients or calls for them. I think one of them needs fairy sugar, which is just super fine sugar but it's not as common in the US.
I'm missing the pictures too and I'm not a beginner. It's good to see how the dish is supposed to look, especially baked things. Also the size so you can pick the right pots and baking trays... Edit: there's quite a lot of specific ingredients that we don't have where I come from. It would be nice if they wrote what you can use instead.
You've got to look for a mushroom dish, frodo in the books got in trouble as a child for stealing mushrooms because he loves them so much. That and the lembas bread, please!
Sup brother, been a while, homemade oatmeal is only way, lit people dont like cuz instant, my favorite is apple, cinnamon and hot honey👍, now taking on tarragon wow, so many pirk and veal recipes, chicken, seafood and dessert too when done right, garlic snd lemon love tarragon 👍 well done, never let me down so🤠, tarragon great in some datenight dishes too, but never overdue it, can ruin a dish, good in creamy, cheesy scrambled eggs too 😏, my used to be brunch in bed dish on toast, with cheap champagne or prosecco 🥹, cheap lol. Hope make it to next video, hope been well, tyvm tc
