Awesome awesome video, thank you for always showing up and showing out , you-da-man
Absolutely phenomenal review Cleveland! With all the options and incredible built in features, this controller will become a major staple in the DJ community! As someone who was a longterm user of the Numark NS7ii this feels like everything we've wanted with a futuristic feel!
Thanks again for the detailed review! Cheers
That's a good idea, asking designers to add a light on the filter/color knob to show which one is active.
This! Man, as a visually challenged individual i really need more light coming thru on the board when im in dark settings
I’m pretty sure NS7Iii had that. I still have mine in storage. Maybe I should fire it up to check lol
@@seansaca yeah def let me know. Or if you know of any other good controllers with more lighting around the knobs & faders..in addition to the pads.
omg hi professor :D
@@Jekoza hi!
Much love my boy forgot to comment after the video. Best review yet, to the point, clear and concise.
Appreciate that
Stoked for this! Thanks for the review Cleveland.
Great Review Cleveland, and $1999.00 is a doable price and reachable. Thanks for sharing.
My brother and I had that same conversation when the rumors about the Performer hit and we said $2K would be the perfect figure as well. It's a good price. Thank you Rane and thanks for another great video C.T.
Great review! I'm picking up my system tomorrow night!
There's some great things i like about this controller... now to decide if the differences warrant the additional cost over the Four... I'm hoping to see a bumch of emd users report back , and hoping this is rock solid , as im hesitant to get a Four after seeing a lot of people with issues early on with the Four.
Motorized jogs are a big difference, and i use stop time knob on my current deck often. The screens look amazing on the jogs, and I like how they implimented the magnetic mechanism.
The faders being updated i hope is a big improvement in long term use, as a piece of gear meant for professional use it neeeds to be solid and for this cost it shluld last a good long time.
I'd love for it to have been a few hundred cheaper, but you're right, it could be a bit more and wouldnt be overpriced for some people.
The booth options in thenmenu, allowing mic to go to the booth is nice... that is what i think makes it also "zone" , so output can be adjusted independently for a second area or room, or...maybe used as a stage monitor if working with a singer, etc...
My current board is in a flight case, wirh a DBX unit, wireless mic unit, etc... its heavy... im hoping to find a lighter case when/if i do end up with this unit...
Good to hear you're happy with the mic inputs, i use the mic inputs on my current Denon unit a LOT and haven't felt the need for an external mixer for most occasions. For 2k$ it should have great mic implimentation.
Excited to have access to the library of internal effects and the channel effects...
Thanks for the great video, a hamdful of things have me really wanting this unit over the Four....now to start stuffing cash into a mason jar for a few months...
Great vid, CT!!
Rane coming in the clutch! If I didn't have the Rev7 I would be all over this thing... IMMEDIATELY!!! Thorough review, CT!
great review as usual CT, we dj’s need to demand more from these companies-this is sad
Excellent review... I have been a rane user for many years, actually I own the rane 4 and look in the near future to get this one! The weight is not a big deal for me, I prefer something that is made of metal that plastic/toys controllers (pioneer controllers)
Prefer rev 7 still. But this is cool!
Beautiful!! Seem like they took the NUMARK NS7III and Combined it with the NUMARK NS6II and Added STEAMS and more etc……. Just plain Genius!!!! 😮👀😮👀😮
To be able to view your library on the jog wheel is amazing . Would have been nice to have a USB input . That would have made it almost a stand alone controller as well. #LoveIt
Hey Terry, do you see a Rane One MK2, with these amazing updates like onboard fx, tension adjust on cross fader, etc; make a run at taking down the Pioneer Rev 7. The Rane 4 had some sound issues that made it sound tinny. I hope they got this figured out on this controller. Great review!!!
I think an update is inevitable
I'm definitely getting the Rane Performer.
which has better sound quality, the Rev7 or the Performer? Thanks!
Check my versus video Friday at 7am!
on it.. thank fam :p
@@ClevelandTerry
Thank you.Questions...
When it comes to me getting a controller, I want great sound, great build, great fader, great motorized platters...Would you recommend this Rane or a Pioneer controller of the same qualities and why?
Oh I have used the older Pioneers before when I spun with someone else, yet I am coming from being trained on turntables, namely Mt Technics decks and original Rane DJ mixer..yes,I still have tons of records..
I wish Rane would have come out with their own thing instead of biting Pioneer's design with the moving platters . It would have been more refreshing to see some newer innovation. The other thing for me personally it's not necessary to need 4 channels I would be more inclined to purchase if it was a 2 channel .. Rane usually has solid build quality and its very nice that the faders are user accessible with a removable top plate unlike the REV7 that was a huge disappointment I did a full tutorial on that process on my channel . It is sad that not all the faders are MAG4 thats always a let down to me when companies cut corners like this on mixers . Overall this looks like a cool item it's not really giving me that wow factor but looks like a piece of solid gear I will stick with my REV7 great review by the way .
Can anyone help as I just got this controller. The songs load on the controller but dont scroll on serato
i guess i need to put my rane four up for sale and put my order in lol. Great review
11:45 Cleveland you sold me
Sup...ns7iii user....been debating on a performer...I mix video....question...when mixing 4 tracks and switching between decks deck 1and 3 for example...on ns7iii the video audio would drop out and the other deck is master. With RP...would thus be the same or will audio video play depending on which up fader is engaged?
love it upgraded from Rane Four
i owns Rane4,😅 and i truthfully must be Honest To Say!!!! REV7 Quality is No Where in the League of The RANE PERFORMER’,🎉…28 Pounds is Great!!!!!, meaning… Not Cheap’…. Thank YOU’…. RANE’…..most definitely Buying this Controller!!!!!🤣👊🏾🔥RANE PERFORMER’….. lets Go!!!!!
dang it. i just got the rane one and the hercules T7. now i gotta save up for this! was planning on the Rev7 but nope i want the Rane Performer!
Big up Bro good review. I really need a new controller. I think its time to pull the trigger
you're a GEM Cleveland!
💎
I have Rane12s mk2s can I use HiD Mode? Looks like it only has line input for DVS.
Nice review bro, but does the unit have to be connected to a computer? No internal ssd’s , thumbdrive etc…vs standalone?
It's not standalone. It requires Serato etc
Another great review.. is it the same size as the Four? Just made a custom case for my Four and would love to be able to use it for the Performer (if I decide to upgrade)..
It should fit
@@ClevelandTerry yes.. thank you.. I probably should have checked the specs before asking the question..
(Four: 30.8 x 15.9 x 4.2
Performer: 30.84 x 15.84 x 4.32)
Good Job My Brother!🔥
Did Rane ever fix their issue with the static/pop in the VDJ timecode. I don't know if they had this issue in the Rane one or four, but it is definitely an issue with the Rane Twelve MK2's
Different platters and components.
@ClevelandTerry ok, understood. Much appreciated brotha. Keep up the great work.
How do jogs feel vs rev7? This is certainly a competitor.
Rev7 jogs felt too light like scratching on air. How’s this compared to that?
Change your slip mats. It makes a hell of a difference since I went with a thicker felt.
awesome review✌🏿
I wonder why they went with USB B instead of USB C 🤔
In music seems fixed on usb b. Maybe one day.
Rane One for the win. Hopefully comes down in price with the new release.
Im gonna stay with the rane one. I modified it to play 45’s and also It is heavy enough.
Looks just like the rev7..I’m good on this
I hope Pioneers coming out with something of their own
³is a 😊😊😊😊
Lol they did already, it's called the Rev 7. If you haven't noticed, the amount of gear coming out has slowed to a crawl. We gotta stop treating dj equipment like smart phones. Between the Rev 7, rane four/performer, flex 10 and everything else, what more do you need?
I need record box 7 to sort their crappy stems out
Be patient…Anthony
Great Video, Rane at the top of the game, Pioneer close second, Numark, Where are you?
Numark is Rane is inmusic. I doubt you’ll see a moving platter on a numark unless the use bands. If they do it will be entry level…as all numark products are now.
I would be all over this if they could just eliminate the need for a laptop and allow us to use USB sticks
The NS7 wasn't horrendous for its time. Quiet your mout blud.
Ns7 had the best pitch
That’s why it’s an opinion. 🤷🏾♂️
I Still Go Out With Mines Frequently. Great Sound Card Compared To A Bunch Of Other Controllers
NS7 2 was ahead of its time
Cleavland…. Sometimes you gotta “ZONE OUT” man…😎
Man. I literally just bought the rane 4 maybe I should send it back and get this. I don't like it not having motorized wheels. Damn
They missed the mark for me. Not class compliant! Meaning it cannot be used with an iPad running iOS. For those that haven’t run Algoriddim DJay on an iPad with a Rane one, you are missing out. It is extremely intuitive. I would have upgraded from my Rane one setup (mainly for the screens) if it was class compliant.
Fantastic controller but the only issue I have with this machine is the 28 pounds weight. I prefer to protect my controllers in road case equipped with laptop slider. And normally these cases weigh 40 or more pounds ( depending on the size of the controller of course ). 28+40=68. Almost 70 pounds of total weight.
I get it.
Is thus controller capable of being standalone? Meane not have to use a lap top?
No
I commented Mojaxx already. There are people commenting, that its not connecting to Serato? You guys had them for months. On what version? Also: Big Up for asking for more options! I would bring one TT and one Mixer like the Mixars Duo MKII for having a back up if Serato connection fails. Failing in front of your audience is a No Go... ;-)
The Serato version would not be released until today I think it’s 3.4 version and good luck with this unit if you had any sense you would have waited 6 months before buying this because the Rane 4 was plagued with issues I’m one of them that owns a Four
It wasn’t connecting because people got their performers early. Serato hadn’t released the version yet. We’ve been on betas the whole time.
Man, I really wish they would make a bare bones version. With moving platters, 2 channels, 8 pads, effects toggles. That’s what 90% of owners that buy this use. Also majority of users never leave the house with this.
Rane one.
Did you talked about hardware efxs?
Strange question for someone watching the video. 😂
For or from ?
Nice kit, but I prefer the REV / battle style layout for sure
25:02 skills!
Got a £900 trade in for my Rane Four to swap for this bad boy.
Nice, but I will wait for one by Pioneer
You’ll be waiting for a long time.
😂laughing because I still use my ns7iii.
Hey... Until today... I was still using my NS7II. At least yours can support Serato 3.0+ and Stems. I was stuck at version 2.37
Yes😂
What is your favorite controller?
Good question...I've been a rev 7 guy since it came out. Now she has a sister...or mistress. Can't decide. :-)
I would love to listen in to the product designer discussions
"ok we have four decks, lets just make all four accessible for external decks"
"naaah why would we do this"
"because any 800 euro mixer can do it and this device is 2.2k euros"
"naaaaaaah man don't be silly, let's be the apple of DJ decks with unnecessary, unexplainable constraints""
not letting use our logo is crazy
Ns7iii is NOT Horrendous 😂
Also, nice unit but the size and cue button location is horrible. Rane the design for workflow especially for the stems need too be more simplistic rather than pressing multiple buttons to activate. Great job though for RANE👍🏾
Hi!
Pioneer FLX10 VS Rane Performer?
Flx10 = Rane four
They should’ve done that from the beginning. That very unfair they made this now, because I was very disappointed after I purchased the
Rane 4 and it wasn’t motorized. Now they realized people were coming complaining, they came up with this, but it’s too late, cus the Rev7 took the stand.
I understand your frustration, but you didn’t have to get a Rane four. The Rev 7 has always been available.
No logo is a deal breaker… Rev 7 for the win…
I think the LED screens on the platter are kind of useless... I would prefer them in the middle like the rane 72 mixer
On a four channel mixer? It would have been even bigger.
as always .. u are the best ;)
better than rev7 after 3 odd years mehh im sure it might be by a point or two lol
Watch my versus video going up tomorrow.
This is good but not for 2k lol maybe 1500$
The Rane four is 1500. How can you expect this to be the same price? Especially when the rev 7 is 2k?
@@ClevelandTerry ok i went a little low lets do 1899$ if Rane wants to compete with the rev7 at least me Rane is known for putting gear on sale, we’ll pioneer is pioneer
First of all I just wanted to let you know why i’m *NOT* going to watch any of your content anymore.
1. I think your channel is great
2. Your content are on point and really interesting and up to date.
3. I used to watch a bunch of your videos for inspiration and ideas .
So why am i leaving?
*TH-camS AGGRESSIVE AD CAMPAIGNS*
I do not condone to sit and watch 10-15, 1-2 minute breaks with content that does not interest me one bit.
Hair or skin products, electric vehicles commercials, fast, snacks and junk food commercials, travel guides or offers
Not a single of these TH-cam ads has a reference to your channel or the content that you produce.
Sorry, my time is more valuable than all these TH-cam ads. So I’ll have to look for information and inspiration elsewhere!
Cheers and thanks for many hours of fun and interesting segments!
So you like what I do but aren’t willing to support the work by watching a couple of commercials? That’s unfortunate. Like you said, this takes a lot of time and effort to do and we don’t get paid to do them. My time is valuable too. Sorry to see you go.
Sooo, pay the 12 dollars a month, or what ever it is that I pay, to not have ads on youtube. It's totally worth it. Also Cleveland will get his money automatically I believe when the ads are auto skipped. It's well worth the money in my opinion by how much youtube I watch.
PRICE IS $1999.00
rANE 4 OR rANE pERFORMER? 🚧🪂🔥💧🌊
I think I answered that. 😀
Everything sounds great, except that the warranty with the Rane is one of the worse out there 🫤
Absolutely dreadful customer service as well
You damn right As a owner of a plagued with ground issue Rane 4 that I repaired myself I will not buy another one. Rane responded very slowly and said they knew about this issue and gave me a list of things to do they never said send it back although the dealer where I bought it said I could send it to them for repair and I had to pay for shipping F that
The fact that you can turn this into a stationary jog is pretty sweet. I'll likely always use the motorized function but it's dope to have the option.
But do they work the same as static jogs when the motor is turned off? I don't think so...
@@isaiahfurrow7414 No, they do not work as a normal stationary jog wheel, so beware of that upon purchasing
Hi @ClevelandTerry,
Currently, I own a Pioneer DDJ SZ, a Rane One, and two Rane Twelves with a Pioneer S11 Mixer. Today, I sold my DDJ SZ and purchased the Rane Performer. When I DJ weddings, I use a controller at the ceremony, another setup at the cocktail hour, and a third setup at the reception (I know it's overkill, but it works for me). I'll be using the Rane Performer as my main gear at the reception, and my Rane Twelves will be used at the cocktail hour instead of the other way around, lol.
You did a fantastic review; it answered almost everything I needed to know except for one thing. You didn't mention that Rane took away the Touch Strip/search strip (only seen on the Rane One). So, my question is: how do you skip through a song or scroll through the track to find a specific part in a song like on the Rane One, but on the Rane Performer without using your laptop?
No controller is perfect or will appeal to every DJ-we always find something to gripe about, lol. Personally, I prefer a large-sized controller like the Rane Performer, which is why I held onto my DDJ SZ for so long. I can't wait to take this new bad boy out for a spin. BTW, I also DJ at clubs, bars, events, etc., but here in Canada, I use my best equipment only at weddings.
Anyways, keep doing what you do, you are obviously one of the top TH-cam review DJ's in my opinion, so the words you say during your reviews matter a lot to us lessor known DJ's. Thank you for putting in the work that it takes to create these videos.
My boy CT doing a Rane review with a Technics shirt 😎
I was thinking the same thing. 😂
I see no issue here. 😀
@@ClevelandTerry I concur😅
Nothing wrong with giving technics props original old school 😊
@@ClevelandTerry zero
I've had turntables, CDJ's, Various controllers and never really used RANE because it seemed to be marketed at turntablists. Then recently, I got one from RANE. after a gig I did for them and using this thing feels like I've come full circle with all my experiences as a DJ combined in one device. I am SO impressed and mesmerized with this unit. It literally brings together the best of all worlds in one device.
The only gripe I have with it is that I wish it was a standalone unit with two more USB inputs to connect some extra controllers to it from for example Denon. That would make it my holy grail of controllers then
I will be upgrading from my ns7iii. This is what I've been waiting for.
Nice!! I'll be upgrading from my NS7II
I have theN7, NS7III and Rev 7. I want this. I consider it the NS7IV.
I only have the REV 1, i'm so glad i waited until this rather than RANE FOUR
I'll wait for NS7 4
Thats a thing ? @4wrestlingfans
I love your videos! I'm a 60 year old rookie DJ and I'm learning so much from you!
Great video! Just picked up one today! Amazing piece of equipment!
Is there a way to have the BPM show two decimals?
Pioneer rev 7 is better. Pioneer understands what djs want. Rev 7 and rev 5. Blows half of Danes equipment out the window. Haven’t loved rane since the rane 57. Been djing since I want 13. I’m 32 now.
Have you used the Rane performer to make such a statement?
Well I have the 4 and it has issues so I can tell you pioneer is better I don’t own a rev 7 but I do own cdj 900 nexus and a s11 mixer I never had a issue with them So I won’t be going back to Rane
Disgruntled Rane One user here - I've had the Rane One since launch and used it as my main controller for almost 3 years now and all we've been asking Inmusic for is a 2-channel MK2 edition with adjustable upfaders, LED screens, and onboard stems controls. (Along with some other shit but thats another issue).
I also would have suggested to Inmusic to stop copying the Pioneer FLX series and switch to the REV layout if you want to attract the Turntablists give them a battle styled layout. Turntablists don't want the 4-channel club layout that you see on the Pioneer FLX series... at least copy the REV layout if you're gonna copy Pioneer. It's meant for turntablists.
Overall, it looks like a good controller but I already have a Pioneer FLX-10 and it's not repalcing it. What we wanted was a Rane One Mk2 edition not a 4-channel club controller.
Just my opinion after years of owning a rane One, don't mean i'm right or wrong... just my first thoughts after watchin the demos by craze, perly, bastid and kswizz.
I agree
It’s about time!!!!! Let’s go!!!!!
Nice piece of equipment, glad Rane brought back the motorize platters, so much magic to be done on this. Great review CT.
I'm still on my Numark ns7iii 😂
One of the best controllers in my own view.
Damn right ✅️ 😂
Cool. I’ll stick to Rev 7.
I want all of this in a standalone with 12" platters, the ability to put efx on stems and all the bells and whistles of the Prime 4+. Yes, all of them lol...
Until then I'm sticking with the Prime 4+. I know no one reading this cares. But a man can dream.
lol holy weight batman. Adding 2 twelves would make your dream machine probably close to 75lbs.
@@atypical_blk_guy I think it would be around 1lb per inch of platter. So it would come out to 10lbs heavier than this. But that is my logic. I wouldn't consider it actual proven theory. 😂 a man can dream.
Я тоже этого хочу
Just sold my beloved DD1000 and got the performer
If it’s as good as the pioneer I’ll be happy
Is it better?
@@FLYT3-DJ Yes, it’s the new standard in my opinion.
However I prefer the Magvel fader over the Mag4
Great Video and information, been waiting on this! 2thumbsUp, CT!
appreciate that
KEEPING MY RANE TWELVES LOL
Not the same device so of course you should. 😀
So, CT, The Main Question Here is ....... If you had to take a controller out to a gig, would you take this one over the REV 7? Definitely has a lot of bells and Whistles ! Perfect Review FAM!
Check my versus video tomorrow fam. 7am.
its a very nice piece but I love my rev 7 very nice demo and video of the performer though Cleveland Terry thanks
Great review. Random Question. Did you purposefully wear a technics shirt to make a Rane review?
It was clean and didn’t say pioneer dj or some retailer. I didn’t even think about it. 😂
@@ClevelandTerry oh I’ve been there! 😂😂😂
Looks very dope!
What bout the idjay pro
Ask algorithm? 🤷🏾♂️ their forums would love to hear it
Problem with selling the Rane Performer is the Rane 4. Kind of shot themselves in the foot on that one I think. I bought the Rane One, love it, play with it for scratching and like the compactish size for what it has, so to me its a good gig controller. Then I got the Rane Four after it came out, I resisted for a while because the One is still awesome. But I caved and also got the Rane Four as it, also, is flipping awesome. And I like the lightness of it, I like that its just a board that isn't motorized. And tho I do like the motorized platters a lot, I can scratch on jogs or platters, and the Rane Four jogs are really awesome. I have zero regrets buying it. And even though I look at the Rane Performer and its like man thats awesome. But I honestly have no desire to lay down another chunk for it with what I have, and I don't feel like selling either of the rigs I have to justify buying it. I don't know how many other obsessed deck enthusiasts bought the One and the Four, but I'm guessing if a person owns either, they probably won't be rushing too hard to get the Performer. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe everyone will trade in their Four and their One, or buy the Performer and keep the one, or buy the Performer but use the Four as the lighter traveller. I dunno I guess there is all sorts of potential buyer base out there of Rane fans, but still. How many 1300 to 2000 dollar controllers can we keep buying LOL. Dammit Rane, stop being so awesome, or pace it out better or something ha.
I want the ten inch platter for real. If they came out with the 10 inch platter , they could do away with the rane 12.
12inchskins will provide soon
Finally!
Here we go
i hope it dones not happen LOLLLLLLLLLL
