This review is spot on. I actually saw this PPV at a friends house whose dad had a descrambler cable box and we all still felt ripped off after seeing it.
The ladder match was quite good though.

Man, I remember my dad letting me get this on PPV. It was so bad that I apologized to him for having him pay for this and I offered to reimburse him for it. Fucking awful.

The ONLY upside outside of the ladder match was that my 2 best friends who were about 4-5 years older than me went to it. Well they also snuck into the hotel bar ALL the wrestlers minus Sting, even guys who weren't on the card, they were all there and my buddies got about 40 autographs.

Bryan mentioned how cocky Bischoff was then commented how only four years later WCW was dead. This is true. But the rot set in earlier than that. About a year after this Raw got ahead in the ratings and never looked back. The WWF ran a marathon. WCW thought it was a sprint

Yeah I agree. I've been watching Raw from late 97 through 98. With hindsight it's even more apparent WcW was doomed.. The relied on the NWO which became state, it didn't help adding half the roster

Failure
The nWo were red hot when they first started as they helped made wrestling fun to watch again. But as time progressed, the nWo eventually became a big factor of the death of WCW as Hogan and Bischoff kept sticking their noses in places where it didn't belong.
The ending of this had me in tears.

It just amazes me that anyone wrote this show out and thought "yes, this is worth putting on PPV".
Everyone came out looking like morons and uncool, WCW & nWo alike.

That NWO Monday Nitro episode was well after Souled Out. If I remember correctly, Souled Out actually did a good buyrate and made money.

You forgot to say that there was not even a commentator boot! Bischoff and Dibiase were just casually sitting near the huge stairs of the set of the entry way. This was the tone of a very "laid back" show.
I ordered it on PPV and it sucked. The under card was terrible and the main event was alright but it could of been better.
Wow. X-Pac was actually there this time. Go figure.
People whose asses his career relied upon kissing were there so he had no choice.

The problem with the VR review is that Bryan did it with Dave Meltzer right after the PPV on Observer Radio and that review is nothing special really. That's why Bryan and Vinny didn't do a full review on the following B&V Show. The only thing they did, was Vinny giving some thoughts on that horrible PPV ;)
Of course, if you guys want to listen to that, I can upload it because Vinny's notes are actually quite funny.

Believe or not, The Giant was good from his debut until Sept 1996 when he joined the nWo.

Never seen this PPV. I think it was a good idea having an NWO PPV because it sold further them as a separate entity as WCW. And I guess it shows their growing power and ego, but sounds like they pulled it off really bad.
I disagree with them on a couple points. Firstly why are they knocking Bischoff for being cocky? He's a heel! He's supposed to be cocky! And the other thing I like the detail of the NWO ring annoncer burying the WCW guys. That makes perfect sense to me on an NWO event.
But it makes the dudes look like geeks with no music and being buried by the fucking announcer

I'm on board with them for 99.99% of this review, buy how dare they disparage the NWO B Theme.
WCW PPVs were always garbage, but the reality is that WCW was crushing WWF for all of 1997.
Thunder was not a bad show at first, but it turned into a jobber fest when they didn't really have the roster for a 3 hour show and a 2 hour show.
Some of The Starrcades were really good.

+Alphonzo316 I agree that overall the wrestling in WWF was better at this point, but I don't agree that WCW sucked wrestling wise. The Cruserweight division was very strong with some great wrestling, the mid-card guys like Melanko and Benoit had some great matches. I think this was one of the best periods in wrestling history. I think both companies were going strong creative wise and in ring.
33:15... surely enough, the decision got reversed two nights later on Nitro.
I would like the Victory Road 2011 review please. I would to see how much Bryan and company bash that show. All I have heard was Bryan calling the main event -*****; although I would love to know what Bryan gave Jake Roberts Vs.Jim Neidhart on Heroes of Wrestling main event because Jeff Hardy Vs. Sting cannot possibility be worst than that one.
Not sure what Bryan gave Roberts vs. Neidhart, but he gave The Bushwhackers vs. Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff from the same Heroes of Wrestling show "minus more stars than there are in the universe, and the universe is infinite". Dave Meltzer gave the "slightly better" rating of absolute zero.

Great concept but Bischoff basically phoned it in, it felt like the WCW guys didn't give a shit what was happening, like they were on vacation. There was even a contest to find a nWo girl and it was the ugliest women taking part of it. Like EB made a point to sink the show. But by doing that missed his chance to have a genuine nWo show after Nitro. This showed signs of the beginning of the end. Worst PPV show of all time. They were G I L *N* F. !!!

I was a dumb nWo mark, so I thought this show was awesome. 😂
This PPV just proved how arrogant and power hungry the NWO AND Eric Bischoff were, both in kayfabe AND in real life. WCW never knew how to long term book storylines. WWE, at the time, knew what to do and ran with it. WCW cared more about the now then the future.

Well Hogan/Nash/Hall/Bishoff and their cronies quite literally ran the place backstage like a high school clique of bully cliches...
The shit they pulled on other wrestlers live and on camera and on a regular basis... it's amazing there weren't more murder attempts than the Psycho Sid/Arn Anderosn thing.... And it's amazing the sideshow lasted so long.

Also for them to say that watching Eddie's dare devil style in this match points to him dying is just dumb. I really don't see any connection, and it was low to say that.

I just watched this the other night. To anyone who immediately thinks all wrestling was great in the late 1990's watch this show and tell me that. Even for WCW...this was fucking garbage. The worst TNA episode ever would still be better than this. Who was supposed to like this show? Absolutely nobody. You would have to be nuts to like this. Looking back on them in 2017...the nWo really was lame. They came off as a bunch of geeks indeed...lol.
