    Great install, but can you explain why the Klipsch center when every other speaker in the room was Polk?

    • @LarsonChristopher
      @LarsonChristopher 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My guess: Emphasis placed on the center and cost savings on the rest. Mostly movie/tv use. The center has the largest role in movies/tv formats.

      @@LarsonChristopher Very much budget conscience set-up. A bit shocked they went with the Polk/Klipsch combo - very different sounds out of the two brands.

      Not a fan of the LR separation in the patio. Also looks like a small sub for the HT room.

      @@Olafdaschneemann They should have just used 3 265-RT's. Honestly there is no excuse for it unless the owner already owned the klipsch center, which they didnt. The Klipsch r34c isnt really a high end speaker either. Klipsch speakers are tingy, polks are not. I like some of their stuff, not impressed with this install.

  • @Jorg05111980

    Why did you, or the customer, choose a different center? That's really not recommended as it has a different sound signature, let alone the difference in design that Klipsch uses for the tweeter (horn)?

    • @christophermcmichael880
      @christophermcmichael880 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm wondering if the Klipsch has a higher decibel rating so the dialog would be more present than an equal to the Polk speakers?

    • @Jorg05111980
      @Jorg05111980 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christophermcmichael880 True, but still it is not advisable, just imagine a sound panning across the three front speakers...nobody would buy two different stereo speakers...so why would you on home theater. Only exception for me would be the rear/ceiling speakers, though ideally they should be the same as the front as well

    • @christophermcmichael880
      @christophermcmichael880 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jorg05111980 i agree. I have all Klipsch speakers in my little set up. RP-6000f's for mains and a RP-600c for my center. When they made that choice to have the Klipsch as a center. The first thing I thought about was maybe that Polk series wouldn't have been loud enough for a center channel.

      Klipsch has better clarity and high range acoustics with little to no distortion, polks are a great speaker with regards to fullness in sound for mid to low range but suffer drastically in the tweeter department. Exceptional contrast between the two I would not mix them.

      Like most things audio related, it comes down to your preference. 7.2.2 is great for music and movies. 5.2.4 is more aligned with movies. It will be interesting to see how the PS5 and nextgen consoles take advantage of the height speakers.

    Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Price difference Polk vs. Klipsch ?

    • @exiteternium
      @exiteternium ปีที่แล้ว

      Klipsch is usually around 100- 200 more. Unless you go signature series. Klipsch nails low end and highs, polks have a good fullness to them minus the highs.. the high are clear and precise in klipsch, polks are muddled and subdued by comparison. You can test our both brands at best buy, imo the klipschs also have a wider Soundstage so listening off axis has less impact on listening experience.

  • @trevor5333
    @trevor5333 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can’t think of a worse setup, non matched speakers in the front stage, and too much off axis listening there.

    I am dissapointed that you not telling how it sounds, or at least the owner not tells what he got for his money.

    • @LarsonChristopher
      @LarsonChristopher 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's highly subjective to the listener. It really does not matter what any of the Dream Media guys think as long as the homeowner is happy with the result, the system works correctly, and the homeowner can easily operate the system. I think this project met all the homeowners' requirements.
      For example, I have much higher standards for audio than most of my customers (I'm not affiliated with Dream Media). It's about THEM when I'm hired to install and sell equipment. I personally love the sound of KEF's UniQ, and that is what is in front of me right now. Most of what I sell is Klipsch, KEF, and Sonos - all based around the preferences of my clients. It's nice to let someone hear the differences between Sonos's silk tweeters vs Klipsch's titanium horns vs Kef's aluminum UniQ vs DefTech's aluminum alloy. After hearing the differences, we often discuss which style they like, and what other equipment we should use to allow the control. Often, this eliminates Sonos in favor of Yamaha's Music Cast amplifiers and whatever speakers the customer wants.
      At the end of the day: all this is about the enjoyment of our time.

    OMG! Did y’all care to tell the home owner about the importance of timbre? I hope mixing speaker brands ESPECIALLY fronts and center wasn’t your idea. I won’t ever do that to my surrounds, rears, not even my atmos/dtsX. Thumbs down.👎

    • @mikesbigtank6015
      @mikesbigtank6015 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@L3x4Pr0ne I've heard them, quite a bit actually, and I'm still not impressed. I like my ring radiators of my lsim703 and my AMT on my Emotiva T1's. Much silkier and better extension than the Klipsch. And pretty much ko fatigue with extended listening.The only real advantage to the klipsch is the efficiency that allows them to get loud with very little power. And I think it's the sheer volume that make people feel like they are good. Really though, I think on the only one that doesn't have a hard on for klipsch. Hell i would take a proper dome any day

    • @LarsonChristopher
      @LarsonChristopher 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Klipsch, well horns specificly, are efficient and highly directional speakers. These characteristics become increasingly important as the size of the venue increases - like movie theaters, stages, stadiums, etc.. You can get silk tweeters from Klipsch for a less-bright sound.
      As far as your standard home theater room size: are you looking for the movie theater sound (Klipsch) or do you want something else? I personally heavily prefer KEF's UniQ to other tweeters & horns.
      It just comes down to what the homeowner wants in the space.
