Yup! Part of the show for adults is grieving the adolescence they never had. It’s a beautiful show but bittersweet for all those who haven’t had that blissful adolescence.
I’m 32 and love everything Heartstopper, I even got the leaves tattooed on my ankle this summer, it’s my comfort show even if it makes me sad, it’s really just nice to feel seen and it makes me hopeful for the younger generation that they get to grow up with content like this
I LOVE the way Alice worded the way the ED issue was approached, and that's almost exactly what Ive been saying in comments on reaction videos. As someone who's suffered with disordered eating for most of my life, I really appreciated the way they went about it. I was Bulimic all through high school and a for some time beyond. I'm much better now and havent purged in years, but continue to have intrusive thoughts about food on a regular basis, and still binge sometimes then feel guilty about it afterwards. Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, and Anorexia clearly present themselves in different ways behaviorally, but the effect any ED can have on one's body inage and subsequent mental health issues that tend to go along eith it can have a lot of overlap. Many of us were in complete denial, and lashing out or completely shutting down whenever food's brought up is so common (I'm often still uncomfortable or embarrassed when people can see me eat). I think some of the stuff in the show was a _little_ breezed over (the darker grittier stuff), but I didnt mind that because of the kind of show that it is. It was nice to see thst it easnt portrayed as this horribly tragic awful incurable thing, without overlooking the importance or severity of the issue. I particularly appreciated how it captured the effect such things can have on ones friends and loved ones. It felt very true to life based on my own experiences, while still maintaining that "hopeful" Heartstopper quality that I love. Im so glad that younger people today have this show. I've found it somewhat retroactively healing in general, and things honestly mightve turned out a little differently for me if I'd had something like this 15-20 years ago 🤷❤️

It's amazing to me that such a lovely person who describes themselves as such, can write such a brilliant comic/graphic novel, and produce a TV/Netflix show which has a lot of sexual chemistry and relationship storylines.... wow. this was such a good season thank you, Alice and all the people who made this possible I hope you know it helped a lot of people even from the beginning of season one I really want the story to continue with the season four but I know there’s a lot of moving parts and I know that season three just came out a few days ago, but this show means a lot to people. I remember feeling that in 1997 we had hope of change. Blair's new government did help a bit, by bringing in the first openly gay cabinet minister Chris Smith in 1997, and Blair bringing in civil unions for same sex couples. But life in school back then was awful for us.
When volume 6 comes out, is there any way that heartstopper could continue as a series of novels so that their story could continue? I hate to think that their story is going to end.
The last novel is still in the works, Alice needs time and space to finish her graphic novel and then adapt the story into tv scripts, that’s why I bet that Heartstopper season 4 would begin filming at the end of 2025 or at the beginning of 2026, also Kit and Joe agendas will be crucial for their availability. Joe is now in the Marvel universe and Kit is seeking other projects too, I would love to see Kit as the main lead of the upcoming Hunger Games film based on Haymitch Albernathy. For some fans, the end of Nick and Charlie’s story is the 2015 novella after Solitaire book, for me volume 6 could continue the story after volume 5 and take place before the events of the 2015 novella or maybe after. But we know the tv series will took the elements of the 2015 novella and the upcoming stories from volume 6
One of the things I like about Heartstopper is seeing trans joy shown through Elle's storyline. But I do get that it's good to show a tiny bit of the reality of transphobia that exists in the real world. I'm glad that Yasmin had a say in her scenes. Coming head to head with TERF rhetoric can be very traumatic, especially because Elle thought she was there to talk about her art.
I would LOVE to have a copy of the picture Elle painted of Charlie in my room...one of Kit, and one of the group by the same artist...I would buy these in seconds if they were made available. I am so happy for younger queer people to have this, but it is also helpful to me as well. It makes me feel hopeful, that even at my age that the world around me, and my life can be happy, and without the homophobia I grew up with as a gay male.
This show should be part of SexEducation in schools or something. I mean like Alice said it is lifesaving. Could maybe even reduce homophobia. Thank you so so much for this show. I love you.
Patrick low key looks like an older version of Charlie, the ears, the curly hair, the jawline, the twinkness, but Patrick looks more like a twunk (twink + hunk for the heteros). Maybe in the future Charlie bulks up a bit as he gets a handle on his mental health and discovers the mental benefits of exercise and eats more. Patrick even said in the interview he related to Charlie 🙈🤭
This new season has a different feeling that the first two. I suspect that there is a new director and more money for production values. There are more group scenes, which are busier and noisier.
Because the story focuses so much on Charlie, it kind of glosses over that anyone else had their own problems from bullies. In particular, how did Elle, Isaac, and James avoid bullying? For Isaac, his bullying might come from being a bigger guy. For Elle, I mean, come on, she transitioned. How did that not get noticed? And, even Tao, who is the straight guy, is not a jock but a nerdy film guy, how does he avoid it? Of course, if everyone is bullied, then Charlie's story is diluted.
Elle talks to tao about being bullied in season one, tao talks about standing up for himself verbally, isaac is so quiet he probably blends into the wallpaper for bullys.. remember this is a british show, its a british school, its not aiming to represent amercian school culture or anywhere else, so bullying is controlled and sorted out in lots of schools in the uk. Its unacceptable and gets detentions. Like mr ajayi said, it took charlie three months to tell him, but once he had told, he was helped by the teachers. Teachers cant control all of it, like chucking sandwhiches after school or on the playground, but there is supervision. Harry got excluded for a week for picking a fight. As far as i know its not like that in the usa where kids get way more stereotyped and play out roles like jocks and nerds and wierd kids etc, and thats just not tolerated in other countries. Considering the main storyline is nick and charlie, a significant part of charlies poor mental health is shown that it was from being outed very young and beyond his choice, and also simultaneously being in an abusive relationship. These are both very severe things to have happened with natural consequences. Even someone like elle who said she was bullied by others clearly has her parents full love and support in a way that charlie doesnt and she didnt have a toxic abusive private secret boyfriend hurting her either. If you know the story, it makes total sense and its very well written. Nothing about this seems unrealistic or not in line with health statistics honestly. Its genius ❤
I felt the show was completely unrealistic, as someone whose not long left 16/17 years old behind them I can tell you right now sex and having it is way way way more prevalent than depicted in the show, there is now way two 16/17 year olds would be together for two years and the most they've done is kiss, it just doesn't happen, every 16/17 year old would be out f*****g a hole in a tree if they hadn't had sex for longer than a few weeks, nice story, lovely characters , completely unrealistic
hey, so everyone’s experiences are different and charlie went through a lot with his self esteem and sa from ben so just keep in mind his situation is very different than an ‘average’ teenager. myself personally i was in a relationship for 1 1/2 years before having sex at 16
Which TV series is completely realistic? It's simply a series that shows that it's possible for queer people to have a normal relationship with someone and that anything is possible. It's also a healthy model to follow for teens and even adults. Yes of course, it's very idealistic but the goal is to offer a feel good series and I think we really need it these days.
I think hes just earnest, hard working and really concentrating on what the interviewer is saying.. if you look at the lighting and hear the sound, it seems like its filmed in some kind of small office room or something where the light isnt very photogenic. Be kind, these people have worked suuuuuuper hard for a number of years now to bring a life changing story to peoples screens. Its not surprising they have the world on their shoulders because in a way they quite literally do ❤
