I'm almost crying when I hear God is always with us in day and night. We hope our God coming again.

My 29 yr old son drew attention to this hymn. Thanks God! Thank you, it's incredibly much needed in these days, and gives it's hearers real strength and love! Could you please post the literal translation here, it would be very helpful.

Such a beautiful hymn, by such an inspiring person. The example of men like Bohnhoeffer gives me a lot of courage that no matter how bad things get it is part of God's plan for myself and those around me.

I have only very limited German but I get the gist of the song being about thanking God that they became an ordinary person. That they lived and experienced all the things common to being human. I think it goes on to talk of being thankful to a God. That God is coming into our world. I’ll do more translation on Google and get back here.

This is a very limited and ungrammatical translation of these words using Google Translate. They are about asking for God to guide us from day to day and year by year. They speak of Gods light, warmth and comfort still being ours even in the darkest night. They confirm that no matter what God is good and God is with us always. They strengthen and sustain us as ordinary people and we say them seeking peace
“Faithfully and quietly surrounded by good powers protected and comforted wonderfully. As surely as days live with you and go with you in the New Year. Wonderfully born of good powers, we wait confidently for what may come. God with us in the evening and on every new day Still wanting to torment the old heart, still pressing heavy days heavy burden, Lord give our salvation, For which we have ready Of good morning Let warm and quiet the candles Flames that our darkness brought guide, if it can be, against together, we know it, yours shines in the night”

Surrounded by such true and gentle powers, so wonderously consoled and without fear, thus will I spend with you this final hours and then together enter a new year.
      By gentle powers lovingly surrounded
with patience we’ll endure, let come what may. God is with us at night and in the morning and certainly on every future day.
The worries of the old year still torment us. We`re troubled still by long and wicked days. Oh Lord, give our frightened souls the healing, for which you’re chastened us in many ways.
      By gentle powers lovingly surrounded
with patience we’ll endure, let come what may. God is with us at night and in the morning and certainly on every future day.
Warm and bright be our candles' flame today, since into gloom you brought a gleaming light, and lead again us, if you will, together! We know it: you are beaming in the night.
      By gentle powers lovingly surrounded
with patience we’ll endure, let come what may. God is with us at night and in the morning and certainly on every future day.

I found this poem through WELOVE's rendition of it in Korean: th-cam.com/video/ME33KFx2dRE/w-d-xo.html
    What an amazing, heartful poem/song.
