To some, it's a manky old worn-out bike that should be skipped.....but to others....it's a wonderful historical record heaped with layers of history being slowly read like a rare ice-core sample from yesteryear. I cannot believe how wonderful it looks,... with all its history - there to be viewed! It's truly amazing job and I really appreciate enjoying this cycle telling it's story of the past. Thankyou so much for taking the time to video and upload

      It's a bike with character.

Velocipedian. That's a new one on me. I usually refer bicyclists as semi-mechanized pedestrians. Because, bicycles are operated by "walking". Just think of how much ground Forrest Gump, could have covered on a bike, instead of running.

This is a beauty. Reminds me of my single speed Raleigh, same color, same condition.

My friend has the BSA his grandfather bought new in '47. It's wheels, as yours, are built with the valve holes in the wrong place. And that was when BSA bicycles were BSA owned & not Raleigh owned.

Owatrol Oil is great for oil rag bike rust protection. It's designed to be a rust inhibitor when applied on its own, just wipe on and let dry and you have a tough long lasting rust protection without having to paint.
But it's also a great paint conditioner and has many uses. The painting trade has been using it for many years and it's well recommend you get some.
    It's perfect for bike protection

I have used owatrol and ankor wax. Both are fantastic products and would have been excellent on this bike. However I wanted to try linseed, having seen it used on rusty vintage cars

I used a few litres of that stuff when I painted the house last summer. I also used it on the chassis of my old Matra car :)

Owatrol or Ankor Wax is better for motor vehicles

You've done a really fine job with these last two weeks. Nice work 😊
How do the rod and stirrup compare with the rod and drum brakes?

You could always trade your 85!

WD-40 stands for Water Displacement- 40th try formula , I have heard it made from fish oil mainly with other additives not a penetrating oil like in the USA “Penatroil” a rust dissolve ing oil and Penatroil comes in various strengths my suggestion is use Penatroil not w d -40 !

They are original as far as I can see . These stainless steel wheels look new for decades
