Great job out there ladies! Yeah, there's a TON of blowdowns out there from multiple storms but you guys did great! Great timing with the jacks as well, I was out there about a month ago and the water was waist deep and very treacherous but the scenery makes it all worth the sometimes near death experiences, haha. That place is magical and always calling.
Very impressive! I used to take my 8th graders backpacking in Cohutta many years ago. This brought back so many memories. Panther Creek Falls trail is also a good one on the left before you get to Rough Ridge Trail. I've done Rough Ridge like you did down to the Jacks River then back up Hickory Ridge trail. They basically run parallel. So many awesome trails to hike in the Cohutta.. You and your friends should do more and post them! :)
Thanks! We did actually plan on doing a different loop that includes Panther Creek Trail, but we found out it closed indefinitely in October of 2020. I think it was due to erosion and they haven't finished working on that section of trail yet. And very true - I love that there are so many options in the Cohutta Wilderness area, and it wasn't very crowded, even for a holiday weekend. Happy Hiking!
@@trailtakers9277 That's sad that Panther Creek Trail is closed. Once you get to the falls there is an awesome view . That trial is also the MOST rugged trail in the Cohutta. I've hiked it both directions and both ways it's very difficult. From Cowpens Tr. Panther Creek Tr. takes you all the way down to the Connesauga River and trail and on down to Bray field and other trails. Keep hiking and posting! :)
@@trailtakers9277 Yeah there's another Panther creek falls trail a bit south of Tallulah Gorge and that's the one that's closed, not the one off of cowpen (no "s" just cowpen 😃) We apparently started getting lazy down here in Jawja and just giving trails the same name. There's a few here it's kinda irritating actually that it seems like they just stopped trying after naming a few!!
Ohmygosh you're exactly right ... I can't believe we didn't realize! LOL we completed re-routed out whole trip just to avoid the Panther Creek Trail when it wasn't even closed 😂 ... Now we'll definitely have to go back soon to check it out. Thanks for pointing that out 😄
@@trailtakers9277 Yeah y'all have got to hike that one! You can watch the sunset from on top of the waterfall and plenty of nice campsites around. Plus, you guys were looking for bears and that's where they all hang out to come up with strategic plans to grab hikers food bags 😂
It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Did you move back home from Michigan ? Are you gonna be making more videos for us? I hope that you can finish hiking the AT some time. What ever happened to “ Candy Bar”?
It really was such a fun trip! And no, I was just back for visit. We do have some more hikes planned for this summer this summer though! I think my next big hike is going to be on a different trail, but maybe I will get back to the AT eventually. Thanks for watching!
Hey, that's my red truck. I was hiking the Hickory Creek trail that weekend.
Lol small world!
You can hear the cicadas! Always special when its time for them to come around.

Agreed 😄
Love this.!

Man, seems like every single trail in the Cohutta area is just hopping over trees. All the reviews and videos I'm watching are saying this.
The sections we did were that way. Makes for a good full body workout though 😅
We had wildfires in 2016-2017
