    LUMS charges 14 lacs for a degree and still calls itself not-for-profit. I paid 2 lacs for my MBBS from Dow (including transport and exam fees). That is my only shikwa with LUMS. Was interested in their MS Healthcare Management, but the degree is not worth 14 lacs even though I could easily arrange that amount.

    • @waqarhaider2226
      @waqarhaider2226 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      They have to pay people who have studied from abroad, build labs and maintain them, etc etc. 14 lac isn't a huge amount when you consider everything.

    • @waqarhaider2226
      @waqarhaider2226 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      And degrees at govt institutes are massively subsidized. If subsidies are taken away, you'll be paying much much more.

    • @ibratnak
      @ibratnak ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@waqarhaider2226 I'm not saying the fees are not justified since education is an expensive endeavor, but the not-for-profit tag under the LUMS logo is kinda pretentious. Self-financed MBBS from Dow costed the same when I was studying there (i.e. roughly 14 lacs).

    I was somewhat disheartened by the response of LUMS' Vice-Chancellor, who seemed to lack a strong grasp of industry knowledge. If this is the leadership at LUMS, it raises concerns about the faculty's quality and the mindset students might adopt. The professor's answers appeared verbose and lacked depth.
    For instance, when Muzamil inquired about providing industry experts with teaching opportunities, rather than relying solely on traditional academic teachers with Master's and Ph.D. degrees but no real-world experience, the professor evaded the question. This inquiry highlights the potential benefits of including more industry professionals in teaching, as they could offer more effective instruction and better prepare graduates for the job market.
    However, it appears that the professor may struggle to comprehend this question, as they are deeply entrenched in the academic community and adhere to established norms. This could limit their ability to appreciate the value that an industry expert could bring to teaching a subject more effectively and practically.
