Beyond words... Shame Curtis wasn't around to sing the lead... but this is awesome!
I can't get over how Sam and Fred's voices have not aged a bit! They sound exactly how they sounded on the original recordings! And the musicians are TRUE students of the Curtis Mayfield sound! Reggie does a superb job as well. Please keep more clips like these coming!
Folks, The Impressions first performed this song on the Joey Bishop show in 1969 amid many protests within radio DJs and even the show itself! Joey Bishop liked the guys a lot and allowed the group to sing Choice of Colors which there is a video clip on you tube showing this! It is one of my favorite performances!

On this day in 1969 {July 5th} the Impressions performed "Choice of Colors" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand
One week earlier on June 28th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #21 & spent 11 weeks on the Top 100 chart
And on August 16th it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's R&B chart
Appearing on Bandstand that very same day was the group's former lead singer, Jerry Butler
Curtis Mayfield passed away on December 26th, 1999 at the young age of 57

These guys sound great. But I have to say that band is amazing.
If you knew how sacred,holy and powerful this song is every one of you muthers would be jumpin up and down when these men of walkin history finished singing this song. I swear this song brings tears to my eyes and touches my very soul,irregardless of colour!!

I went to both segregated and integrated schools. This song brought back the memories and longing for our black teachers who lost their jobs because of integration. Such a waste of talented teachers
