    Thanks for this video. This can’t have been easy to film at all, as I can tell how disappointing it is to you that you just can’t throw normally with your right hand. Thank you. I really appreciated seeing how dartitis properly affects people. It is a strange thing the human brain. I used to play tennis semi-professionally and I would occasionally get something we called “the elbow” when you just can’t hit a shot in the court and you feel like a total beginner. It is an extremely frustrating experience. Thanks Jack. Love your channel.

      i guarantee it wasn't easy atall i know exactly what he's going through honestly its weird asf it was embarrassing enough for me just trying to play and trying to play for my team i couldn't even imagine trying to film this fair play to him for making this video!

    I feel your pain mate. I’ve had dartitis for 10 years, to varying degrees. I was unable to play at all really for the first 7 years, and have been able to play to a reasonable enough standard with it for the last 3 years. Unless you’ve experienced it, there’s no way of understanding how frustrating and demoralising it is.

    Hi mate, I play darts for a local darts team on the Wirral and I suffered with dartitis around 6/7 years ago. Watching you struggle with the right hand was exactly what happened to me, when I pulled my arm back and then go to throw my arm would freeze and the more I tried to let go of my dart I'd lose balance and sometimes fell over which when playing in a pub made it look to some people that I might have drank too much. Over time I got to a stage where I managed to let go, it took a couple of years to be able to throw but ive got to a point where I don't care if I win or lose anymore I just want to try and enjoy playing my favourite sport.
    I enjoy your content, keep up the good work

    I've been playing very actively for 2 years and recently got dartitis in my right arm. It came out of nowhere and it's gotten really bad in a couple of weeks. I've been trying to play left handed for a few weeks now but it's so hard to see any improvement, especially when right handed was going so well. You keep me motivated to continue practising with my left hand though! It's amazing how much you improved in just 4 months!

    I know exactly how you feel, it started happening for me in the last couple weeks and it is such a frustrating experience as you can't simply comfortably throw a dart as you are constantly pausing or almost falling over, and the worst part is that other people don't get what you are experiencing.

    Thanks for posting. This is something I suffer from but it comes and goes, do teen dart legs then cannot finish in 50 darts. Happens in practice, winner stays on practice games or league games for no reason. Tried lots of different darts, throwing styles, drinking more than less to try to fix it. I love the game and won’t pack it in but I’ve had for 15 years. All the best Jack enjoy your content 👍👍

    Until watching this I never realised I do exactly what you do right handed. For me it’s like i’m so set on getting T20 that when I pull back to do the throw there’s a little bell/alarm in my head that just goes “nope, not right” then I have to reset like you do - inevitably missing anyway. Never realised that’s dartitis though, thanks for educating me.
    I think it relates to perfectionism, like you can’t accept you might miss. That’s how I feel about it anyway.
    Nice darts nevertheless, good luck with the left hand!

    i absolutely understand what you go through throwing with your right hand i had this problem and it stopped me enjoying and playing for over 15 years nothing i tried worked to get rid of it and i ain't gonna lie its was depressing asf its so fucking embarrassing aswell i tried to keep playing for my team for about 6months with it before i just put darts down for good and didn't touch them again.
    the crazy thing is i gave darts up for that long i have some old personalised flights in my case that are a couple of years older than my son and he's now 12 lol
    i wouldn't wish dartitis on anyone its one of the worst things I've been through but the good thing is I've been playing for around a year again now with my right hand and all seems good back to normal touch wood i just went with a whole new set up when i came back and alot of years away from darts sadly.

    Hey mate I'm.a Dartitis sufferer . I'm.53 years old now and I first got Dartitis when I was 18 .. 8 had it severe , worse than what you are showing year . My best mate reckoned I was obe of the best dart players he ever saw . I used to miss dart board all together and would even hit the skirting board in my bedroom . I went to the pub with my dad many years ago and had a game and it was just as bad do I started playing with my left hand and I think my first s ire was 133 on 19s . He said I should throw with my left permanently. I have had a 180 with my left hand . I had no problem at all with the throw , grip and follow through but the problem is I cant get stance or allignment right , just feels awkward . I also dont have the patience to swap over .
    I'm still playing right handed and now and again it will appear but I generally seem to manage it . I had to change everything , stance , grip , throw , darts . Cunt o thing the Dartitis. I stilk get fucked off when people say stop thinking about it just throw .
    The other guy in you tube "Straight to the Point " darts has a video on it . Took him 3 years to change over and says he'll never go back to right handed.

    Had dartitis on and off for years, have you tried throwing with your bad hand while shutting your eyes? It just stopped when i did this, obviously it's not a fix but it gives you the feeling of just throwing again. Try it and stop aiming at anything. I also just changed my grip for a while too, i think it's all about tricking your brain and giving it something else to concentrate on. Thanks for the video though, it's something that doesn't really get talked about.

    @ReneBrain 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It is very difficult comparing throwing left to right hand performance if you play against urself (not looking at dartits itself) because you cannot get into any kind of rhythm, i tried it also once, i do not have dartitis and my strong hand got so much worse doing switching every throw. try to compare it against a bot or a similar Strength opponent so you can at least keep the concentration on one hand, this way you are starting to confuse yourself even more. that is atleast what i have experienced playing against myself with both hands alternating xD

    Ngl mate big respect for the left handed journey that you’ve been on. However, I’ve seen some of your older vids and you were an animal right handed. Just my opinion but I genuinely think you should scrap this whole left handed thing and just power through right handed. I think you’ll never be as good with your weaker hand as you can be with your prominent hand. It is all mental and I reckon if you proper stuck with it right handed, maybe even saw a hypnotherapist about it, you will be back averaging 70+

    Can someone explain to me how dartitis can become such a big deal. Yeah fair enough getting the yips in a big tournament is understandable but lets be honest, just hucking something with your right hand isnt exactly life or death is it? Plus playing by yourself cant be that yippy. Loads of people are shit at darts so if youre worrying that much about throwing with a particular hand surely this is a 1st world problem. Surely you must have to get to a certain skill level to even get the yips because beginners generally don't really care about being rubbish. Obviously everyones mental health is important but I'm just trying to understand how something with so little real life consequence can be so debilitating.

    • @jimjiggles1474
      @jimjiggles1474 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's essentially a form of performance anxiety. Anxiety based disorders have no rhyme or reason most of the time. Something as simple as throwing a dart or swinging a club casually can trigger it. Our brains are doing a million things at once, sometimes it gets it wrong and stays like it. Sometimes it eventually fixes itself, sometimes it can't. It's probably why combining beta blockers and therapy can help greatly in some people (A common combination treatment for anxiety), but beta blockers are generally banned in most sports.

    • @SteveLPDNB
      @SteveLPDNB 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimjiggles1474 Cheers for explaining. I guess coming from other sports such as cricket bowling, if I had anxiety about my bowling due to nerves or a bad performance we would either have mental coaching, support from teammates or just good old fashioned practice until we beat it. I guess as darts is a solo sport the support isn't always there and it's not as easy as practicing until it wears off. I think long term though switching to another hand can't be a long term fix, because what happens if you get dartitis in that hand too?

    • @athax5261
      @athax5261 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So I’ll try my best to explain this since I tend to struggle with dartitis myself sometimes, but basically it just shows up and it’s very hard to get rid of. Before I had problems with dartitis, I used to think that it was a bit ridiculous and that it couldn’t be that hard to just throw your dart even when you had a dartitis attack, but it’s not as simple as that (which I found put the hard way lol).
      So right at the beginning that you start to see signs of dartitis, atleast for me, you sometimes tended to have problems with releasing the dart. This was sporadically, and it didn’t occur often at all. But after some time it started to happen more and more often and you just get frustrated because of it (this was all in my garage where I play darts for the last 4 years now, so with no pressure whatsoever). It’s really frustrating to not be able to let go of your dart, and once you start thinking about it and get frustrated it just worsens.
      My worst experience of it was at a local tournament, where players like Van Den Bergh, Huybrechts and De Decker also participated in. It was my first tournament and the pressure definitely got the better of me, but that’s when dartitis also is at its worst. It’s so frustrating playing an opponent you have never seen in your life but not being able to throw normally, and losing the match because of it. It’s just a ‘blockade’ in your head, and you simply have to restart your throw over and over again.
      I hope this helps in any way, it’s not a simple ‘don’t be stupid just let go of your dart’ thing there’s way more behind it 😅
      (Perhaps also interesting, I’m a 60-70 average player and when dartitis started showing up in my throw I averaged around 50 or so)

      @@athax5261 cheers for explaining your pov. I did think it could be much more prevalent in competitions but I didn't know if it subsided enough to not be an issue in say ... A casual round with friends where anxiety levels are much more reduced. Obviously there's a way I can state my opinion and ask in the correct way too, so glad everyone's been so patient in explaining as I am genuinely interested to know more about it. I've worked in palliative care before so I'm not sure I could ever contract dartitis because I just have a mental blocker in my head that there's so many more worse things that can happen in life, throwing darts at a board could never be a huge burden to me mentally if that makes sense.

      @@SteveLPDNBThat social structure probably does help a lot in preventing a form of the yips. Both cricket and bowling have players with their own yips. It seems to affect repetitive fine motor actions. So throwing, swinging or batting. You don't really find it in sports like football, American football or rugby where there is less use of fine motor skills.

    Dartitis is just horrible! I also had it when I was younger.

    Seems like a genuinely lovely bloke. But this has raised more questions than answers for me. As someone who doesn’t often play darts, the concept just seems wild.

      It’s just a silly little video mate, I really wouldn’t be too concerned
