    Once again you are the man Gary, that just doesn't look fun to work on. I don't see a lot of videos on RWD Aisin 7/8 speeds in the shop, it seems they are pretty reliable and sturdy. Zfs seem to be same way unless they rarely get driven and the seals dry up etc.

    Hello sir, thank you for the video. It may come in handy! I am hoping for some advice.
    My girlfriends 2004 X3 will do a sort of flair when it shifts from 1-2 and 2-3. At about 50-100% throttle. Nornal driving it's mostly fine.
    By flair I mean it will start to shift, the rpms slowly drop a bit, then it kind of slams into the next gear. The shift time my be 2-3 seconds.
    No codes, I have changed the filter and refilled, it does not slip at all. I have reset adaptations and no difference. Would rebuilding the valve body correct this issue do you think? What do you think of the $200 reman valve bodies you can find on ebay and Amazon? I have a hard time trusting those and might just try to rebuild it myself...
    Thank you in advance.

    What a great, informative video. I have an issue (same gearbox) that only affects 5th. Do you think this is something that can be resolved without gearbox removal. Fault code is PO735. Its a low mileage box, changes well except in top

    Hello, the 5l40e gearbox jerks when changing gears from 4 to 5 and locking. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear shifts fine, should I look for the reason in the mechatronics??

      @@nelsonmelgar999bro I've got the same car, actually I have a 2000 323i and a 2004 X3 3.0i right now both having trans issues. From what I can find it seems like they have 60mm and 66mm springs and range Rover uses a 65mm spring but for the most part it seems consistent, I did find a pack of 4 springs and it comes with 3 60mm and 1 66mm spring, I also ordered a used valve body from eBay for cheap and I intend to dissect all 3 valve bodies and see what the similarities are and if the springs can be swapped - I know the solenoids are the same between the 2 according to realoem and FCPEURO, I suspect a broken spring on my X3 and possibly on the 323i, I do know the 323i has a different valve body and parts and info are much harder and more expensive to find but it seems the TCC solenoid is the culprit for a no reverse that I'm looking into on it and a hard shift from 1-2 and limp mode engaging on the X3 131k miles on the 323i and 223k miles on the X3

    The punch you used to mark the checkball locations, would that affect the sealing afterwards? how tolerant is the surface to marks and scratches etc.
    Thanks for these videos anyway, the 5hp19 rebuild helped me a lot, I don't think I'm ever gonna open up a 5l40e but it's interesting to know what's inside

    • @hamzamo95
      @hamzamo95 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GaryFerraro no sir, no codes at all. It mainly delays shifting to 3rd or 4th when I step on it going up hill trying to pass someone that I sometimes abort the passing, take my foot off the throttle but eventually it shifts. However, going on flat roads it shifts wonderfully! I know it is not the fluid level because I change it every 40k miles and I follow the procedure to the letter. Thanks
