I'm fortunate enough to have a couple of gas stations in the local area that sell ethanol-free gasoline, it's a bit more expensive but worth it. Thanks for the video, the more of them I watch, the easier the carb work gets.

So I definitely like this video… my only problem with it is that my carbs do not sit level in the bike…so in tuning them level they actually are out of whack..and leak into the exhaust and the airbox… definitely informative, but that was the only issue I had.

Gerard, this was a very informative video. I'm considering getting some overflow pipes installed by Shoodaben Engineering in the carb bowl where the drains are. If you're not familiar with them, check out his Web page, and you can see images of what the overflow pipes are, and how they work will be obivous. Once I get the carb bank out, and the bowl covers off and sent off to SBEngineering, I might put in new Carb Float valves just to be on the safe side. I don't want to risk a sticky Float valve, and even with overflow pipes installed, I can't think of a worst scenario then having your engine get a bent connecting rod from a HYDRO LOCK situation. I installed a wiring harnes for a GPS off the front aux. output leads, and pulled my tank. Thats when I found my Petcock leaking without vacuum on it. Ordered a new Petcock, and still waiting. I'm considering putting an additional inline OFF/ON valve just downstream of the Petcock, but I've been warned, it will cut down on gas flow, and could cause gas starvation. Just an additional piece of insurane so I never have a time where gas from the fuel tank can leak into the carbs, and have a float valve stuck open and boom, HYDRO LOCK. Good video, great information. Your sound was not so good, your coughing was SO LOUD, and the rustling of something was really loud... BUT the INFORMATION was GREAT. Thank you very much.

Thanks for your comment. I live in Colorado and it is difficult to find fuel without ethanol. This causes great pain every time i leave the bike a few weeks without riding it. I got really tired of pulling and cleaning carbs. I now have converted one of my connie's to fuel injection.

@@gerrypineau I just really admire your never giving up on your connie! There is a gentleman in NH, Bob, should ah could a wouldda(not exact, sorry) youtube. Has connie and pulled it apart (and other MCs too) to fix this and that. He's fearless in fixing things. You both are Great examples of what can be accomplished when you have what it takes inside. I admire you both.

A little tc-w3 oil in the gas will stop ethonal from eating the rubber bits in the carb and petcock, especially during winter storage.
The gas tank is probably the major cause of carb trouble. The sides of the tank where it meets the side panels sit below the petcock. Water collects in these areas, starts rusting the tank, the trouble begins.
I had my tank lined with RedKote and installed an inline fuel filter.
Get to the route of the problem, no more problem.
