    Girl, if it smells way worse then normal postpartum. Watch out for a uterus infection! Sometimes that's the only indication, not even a fever. I've had it after my son, and it's really dangerous. Keep an eye out, congrats on your baby girl!!

      With my last 2 pregnancies, I had the bad smell in the last half of the pregnancies but it went away after birth. Still don't know what the deal was with that.

      EragonEldestLover you probably had BV (bacterial vaginosis) which is extremely common during pregnancy. I’ve had it (a couple times) throughout all 3 of mine. Usually during the end of the 2nd trimester & during the 3rd trimester.

      Change in hormones can also cause strong smells. She might not have ment it smelled bad, but just, stronger scent than she is used to. As ur hormones change and adjust, it can cause a change in discharge and smell.

    • @jennajune2101
      @jennajune2101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ashley Warner change in hormones, like in or after pregnancy, is the #1 cause for the pH to get out of whack. In turn, causing BV, a lot of the time. It’s extremely common, to the point a lot of women ignore it, or think nothing of it & don’t do anything.

    You had me crying. I experienced similar thing with my 3 month old son Andrew. My son and I were in the hospital 3 days. I did not sleep nor did I eat during that time. I had no family around to help. My husband could not help much due to his demanding job. I felt so alone. I prayed and cried and prayed some more. However that was 22 years ago. My son Andrew is now serving in our great U.S. military. He will not be home for Christmas again this year. He was deployed overseas last Christmas. He's deployed again. Miss my little boy. Hang in there and enjoy your little ones. It goes by to fast, then they are grown and gone.

    I agree with other commenters, if your lochia smells worse than usual you should see your midwife and get checked out. I had trailing membranes and mine smelled yucky too - mine resolved itself without the need for intervention but you have to keep an eye on it. I was also in a lot of pain down there - horrible pressure that got worse and worse over a few days until I passed the retained tissue in a big clot, and then it was all better. Fun times right? Next time I want to get a belly band. I felt so wobbly and gross, a good snug girdle would've been soooooo nice.

    I’m not commenting to bring negativity, hate, or shame to homebirths. I just want to bring awareness. A homebirthed newborn, having an issue like baby Elizabeth is 8times more common than a baby born in a hospital, or with the help of a midwife that doesn’t have a medical (RN or CNM) background. It happens in over 60% of homebirths. A lot of people don’t know, because not a lot of babies are born at home, or the parents don’t share that “scary” info. It’s extremely important to have all the airways cleared out as close to 100% as possible. The smallest amount of mucus left can cause infection, high fever, irritability, even pneumonia and/or sids/death.
    I worked in Labor & Delivery (at a hospital), as a (RN) nurse, for 11yrs.
    I have my masters as a CNM (certified nurse midwife) and have done homebirths. But in the past 5yrs, I’ve strictly stayed in a hospital. Where an OB/MD are right there, if needed, in a second.

    • @sofiasara98
      @sofiasara98 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      My thoughts exactly... I'm definitely not a CNM, but I'm finishing up my undergrad in nutrition to go the Certified Midwife route

    • @alexlittle266
      @alexlittle266 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Don't see how this is supportive or beneficial. For Sarah (especially since she already delivered at home) or for any other mom planning on having a home birth.

    • @jennajune2101
      @jennajune2101 5 ปีที่แล้ว +89

      Alex Little sorry you see it that way. I also never said it was supportive. I said it was to bring awareness. If anyone is planning a homebirth, they need to know this. They also should be going with a CNM, or at least a midwife with a nursing background. Bringing humans into the world isn’t as simple as just pushing them out. There is a lot that needs to be done right when they’re separated from the mom. A lot isn’t depicted (from videos) or executed (in real life) correctly & why over 60% of homebirthed babies end up in the hospital within 10days after delivery.

    • @alexlittle266
      @alexlittle266 5 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Jenna Frazier women have done it for thousands of years. I definitely disagree with your statistics as well. Women don’t usually choose having a home birth just from watching a TH-cam video. Anyway, no use arguing. I am very happy with my choice to birth at home. Let’s just do a better job in supporting our moms!

    • @HiCary_1
      @HiCary_1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      First you have no idea how many mothers and babies died during childbirth thousands of years before...second, a delivery in water is another risk factor for infections for the baby, how can you mantein aseptic that water? I am a doctor and those are important topics in pediatrics, an apology for my english, it's not my firts language.

    The thing that drew me to your channel was how you put your faith out in your videos so naturally like it's truly your lifestyle and foundation - it's very clear that it's the most important thing to you and your family and so cool to see. Bc it's not very common on TH-cam unfortunately. Your faith and how you bring up Scripture and just God in seemingly ordinary things is such an inspiration. Much love 💙

      Jesus heals...

    • @mckaelaautumn
      @mckaelaautumn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      valarya 😂 damn tight. God doesn’t sicken or heal people. It’s simply random. People who say otherwise and say “God saved them.” Or other sayings are just trying to find meaning in a random situation. He doesn’t make people sick on purpose and doesn’t heal. He gave us the tools to take care of ourselves because He didn’t mess up with creation and made awesome human bodies and awesome things in nature for us to find to take care of ourselves. It’s like that whole story about the man stuck on the roof in the flood and he refuses a raft, a boat, and a helicopter because he says “God will save me” but then he drowns. He asks God why He didn’t save him and God says “well I sent you a raft, a boat, and a helicopter”!
      I mean Christians have no issues with the fact we have to ask for forgiveness and for salvation from Jesus and we don’t just get it automatically

    • @valarya
      @valarya 5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@mckaelaautumn Also what does it mean when hundreds of children die from cancer every day? Guess god hates them. The logic is so ridiculous. I get that some people put their faith in organized religion because it gives them a sense of purpose and community - and that's all well and good. If it makes their lives easier, then hell yeah to that. But to say God healed your child is so incredibly rude when you think of all the children who couldn't be healed. It's like a giant slap in the face to anyone who has lost a child to sickness.

    I don't follow you on other accounts so I'm just now learning of this. When my son was 3 weeks old he went into the hospital with bacterial meningitis. I was told that if we had brought him in 24 hours later he would not have survived. I know the tears, fears, and especially all the prayers. I was told that he could be blind, deaf, retarded, physically handicapped, if he lived. He was hospitalized for 2 weeks. I didn't get to see much of my then 5 year old daughter during that time. This boy suffered no damage. As a matter of fact, he began recognizing words at 2 years old and read fluently before he ever started kindergarten. That was God's way of showing me that he was not going to have any learning disabilities. He is now 34 years old.

    Christian here as well, but can we get a little thanks for everything that the doctors did to save your baby? Lol. It’s funny how when patients get better they “Thank God”, but when they don’t, the doctor gets blamed. Yes. God made all the cures/medicine we have today in nature for us to find/figure out and He guided all the people who made the discoveries that have led to the incredible advancements we have made in medicine. But He led you to the doctors that could heal your kid and they have worked pretty damn hard to be able to be in that place.

    • @mckaelaautumn
      @mckaelaautumn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +34

      Ági Fekete it’s not the point of the video, obviously, but it was something I felt “called” to point out. My SO has worked his ass off to be accepted to medical school so he can go help people. I’m working my ass off to do research and get to vet school so that I can make more discoveries and create new treatments and save animals. Our patients aren’t going to be surviving and thriving because of good will, but because we’re using the tools God gave us to save and treat his creatures.

    • @mckaelaautumn
      @mckaelaautumn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Lauren J yeah, I know nurses do most of the work. I’m a vet tech. I know it’s an intense job. I’m just using doctor to reference medicine in general. These people worked hard to be there and to use the tools God’s left on earth so they could heal people. God also made all the bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens that make us sick.

    • @mckaelaautumn
      @mckaelaautumn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Kelly C I didn’t watch the video to find something wrong and I stopped watching as soon as this annoyed me. You could say I felt “called” to comment... it’s just annoying when people can’t appreciate medicine and science and that it always has to be this stupid war between them and religion. God made the pathogens that kill us and other creatures and He gave us the tools to stop it. It’s a beautiful thing and should be appreciated. It should be appreciated He made these terrible, complex diseases and He hid understanding and medicine all over the place like Easter eggs, for us to figure out and use because He doesn’t heal magically. Those sorts of miracles stopped a long time ago.

    Nothing harder than having your baby in the hospital! A mama never knows her strength until she has too. My son had heart surgery at 2.5 months (sort of emergency we had planned for around four months so earlier than expected ) and crying became my second language too. It’s totally normal. Glad she’s better and you’re better too!!

    Baby chiropractor damaged my baby's neck. I think he was either too rough or it just wasn't a good idea for her. She barely slept that day and now has neck pain and tons of issues that they thought she had before but she didn't. Its very upsetting and sad.
    I think infants shouldn't get chiropractic care until several months later, not so soon as 1 month.

    So happy to see you and Ellie looking so good after all that happened. Looks like all of our prayers were answered and we look forward to seeing you and the kiddos as you move on through motherhood with three small children in tow. The beauty videos are great, but I really am curious how 3 little ones will change your normal routines. I was one of those many years ago that went through the blues. I believe it was a physiological chemical thing that I inherited from my mom, who indeed inherited it from my Granma. It is a real thing and no matter how long I thought it out, I was still miserable. Most of all I was tired, probably because I was older having my first child, and 40 when I had my last child. I am amazed at how uplifted you are and can't help wondering how much your videos today would have helped me many years ago. I hope your uplifting words are getting through to a young mother today that has fallen into that very dark and lonely pit (like I did) and make it so much better. It will sure make those days much more meaningful and enjoyable to get through. Take care of yourself and love to you, your wonderful and supportive husband and your precious children. Merry Christmas and much love into 2019. XOXOXO

Hospitals have so many germs and infection there who knows it could’ve been worse. But if you did go to the hospital the risk of interventions are so high it’s crazy. So ignore all those comments and know that you did everything right! God did heal your baby, he was there with you in the hospital working through every single doctor that was coming in and out of your room. Also, your support and love for all mamas out there is so inspiring and empowering! Please please be careful with lavender on or near lady parts!
    I'm 100% about natural essential oils and lavender in general, but it can alter your pH badly!
    All the love and blessings though, not trying to be negative at all.

    Such a good outcome! I was so worried and sad for you. You are so much stronger than you know! She is so precious. Looks just like you. I was happy that we got the tiniest sneak peek at Kieran's shorn locks.:) You look beautiful and healthy and are such a wonderful young momma. Bless you, Merry Christmas and as always thank you for sharing your wonderful family with us. You inspire!

    My family is saying prayers for you and yours!!! I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!! God Bless!!
    We too know know how it feels to have your newborn rushed to hospital. My son was 45 minutes old and TAKEN TO CHILDREN'S MERCY HOSPITAL by ambulance. He was in the hospital for a month. The Lord blessed us and kept him safe in the Doctors and Nurses hands. He is now 13!!! And a typical teenager!!! The Lord is great!!!

    Omg, I CAN’T with all these COMMENTS!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ “Thank the doctor’s, they healed you! Don’t use oil! Have your baby in the hospital!” EVERYONE is an expert and so UNGRACIOUS, JUDGY, and RUDE. Girl, keep living your life and doing YOU! Shaming and blaming is so passé. Especially from all these other women. It’s 2019....#overit! God bless your precious family!

    What a story. I can so relate to what happened. I feel like you told my story exactly what happened you to happened to me but with the exception of my lil Leo had no symptoms except his oxygen levels were down and the only reason I went to emerge was because my midwife said he looked yellow and I said I should take him in. But fortunately nothing was wrong with Leo and 4 days later we got to go Home. I have a new appreciation for the nurses at the hospital. the love and support you get shows that god is watching out. It was the worst and amazing experience for me. (If that makes sense)
    I’m glad your baby is okay. Very happy for you guys. God is good.

    *For those of you who DO get postpartum depression (I had it twice), try taking sam-e.* I had good luck with the Nature's Trove brand in the foil packets. It also works for regular depression. For me, it made a really big difference between feeling like there was no end in sight, to feeling like I could get through it. I HIGHLY recommend trying it.

    Thanks for sharing this Sarah! Did any doctors checked up Ellie first and then told you that she was not in a life threatening situation and let you wait for 45 mins? That’s too long for someone who has a really serious problem or in a life threatening situation! I’ve always heard of people waiting hours in emergency room which makes me feel insecure and anxious! If anyone works at emergency room or know the details of that, please share! Thank you! Love people and love the world!

    Look into a program called Every Mother. I don't know if y'all have it in Canada, but it's a program that was started here in the U.S. by a mother and trainer and it helps heal diastasis recti. I've been doing it for a while now and it has seriously helped!!

I had a similar situation with my son and it is so scary so shed all the tears you need to moms it is absolutely okay whether happy or sad tears. Sometimes we need that to release the fears. I am so happy for you that all turned out well for you and your beautiful family.
