Professional finance tips would help, because it's not always as easy as saving a few dollars. She makes $15k a year at a part time job, but still buys trips to Cancun, $70 cupcakes, has a car while living in the city, an EZ pass, AND a Metro Pass, plus a litany of other unnecessarily expensive expenses. If she were really poor she would have bought one, yes ONE cupcake, or got a dozen cheaper ones at the supermarket, restricted herself to the car or metro for trips into the city, not both, and gone to Target or Ross to buy her clothes, not American Eagle or whatever was listed on her receipt. All of this on top of covering her boyfriend's overdraft fees. That's nice of her, but really irresponsible. She does all of this though because she's not really poor. She has her parents bail her out whenever she gets in a bind, which to me sounds like more often than not.

If she gets that in order, she's got more savings than other people with that same salary, she'll do well. She could get a second job or side gig to save more as a security blanket. Her rent is spectacularly low anywhere in the US, and she can take full advantage of that and save her money. Increases in income does not always automatically mean increases in savings, managing $15k now very carefully will pay off when she does make more money. I know because I've done it.

This is so refreshing. It's such a big contrast to the people that live near me in silicon valley, where they make 200k and have inflated their lifestyles so much to the point that they say it's unlivable.
Also SMH at ppl commenting about this girl who's 3k in debt but took a trip to cancun. I don't see y'all looking twice at ppl with 100k in student debt but taking trips across Europe. Take a seat!

Liz Flores People will shame the working poor for doing the same thing as someone else richer than them. Like. Can she go on a vacation? She doesn’t have to wear rags, take no vacations and live a sad life in order to get her finances in order. If she cut out random payments for her boyfriend and her gifts to friends, she could easily pay off that debt. It’s the random spending that does her in

Ofcourse she's happy, all she's doing is ignoring the issues that will follow her for the rest of her life, it's a bit like watch a morbidly obese person eating junk food of course they're happy in that moment but doesn't mean it's good for them

Remember everyone when buying a gift for someone it's not about price tag.. it's the thought that counts! Don't go in debt for temporary pleasures.

even though 15k shouldn't be a long term salary, it's still workable if you don't go to cancun when you already have credit card debt

Point of this video, she's not living independently and relying on everyone else to enable her to spend money beyond her means, allows her to spend money when she's in the negative.
