Man, that massive mobile armor, multiple cruisers, two Gundams all swallowed by what has got to be one of the most terrifying forces in fiction.
Honestly, the ELS are fascinating, and not just from a lore standpoint. If we ever encounter alien life, it likely won't look anything like what we can imagine, but this movie comes the closest to achieving that concept.
Something TRULY alien.
I couldn't stop thinking about the ELS being like the aliens from galaga
What's more is that individually they're not that big a deal, it's the fact that they overwhelm that makes them so terrifying.
And even then, they're not a hostile species, they just don't know how else to communicate so they just try to assimilate other life into them.
I haven't seen Mobile Armors on the battlefield often enough, but they seem more useless than an extra belly-button.

@@Gaiou0331 well, most of them, but this one, there's not many mobile suit could move at that speed. Gadelaza is a freaking monster, it's just Descartes is fool enough too think that he could one man entire ELS.
But to be honest, if I'm a pilot as skilled as Descartes, and they give me Machine as huge as White Base, Faster than Trans-Am Zabanya, loaded with weapon to the teeth, and can go Super Saiyan, I would think I could destroy the whole world too.
I find it really cool that Gundam 00 era takes place in our own AD Timeline.
I still can't believe that this god like animation is in 2012
The main 00 Tv series already have top tier animation for an anime released in 2007. So it's a no brainer that the movie would be even more god like than the tv series already is. Also the movie back then premiered in 2010, and to date the only few Gundam movie that is actually an original story..... not some movie compilation or adaptation one.

ELS learn by absorbing. This single battle is what allowed the ELS fleet to understand how to counter GN weapons.
It's how the ELS were able to beat humanity so easily later in the movie. If this battle didn't happen then the ELS might have lost the final battle.
In the manga, ELS created their own version of Gadelaza and 00 Raiser
I mean they would've still lost because they had to fight the ELS eventually before Setsuna came along. If they didn't learn here, they would've learned in the battle on Earth's orbit. And even without learning to adapt, they're essentially an endless swarm.

the ELS literally are The Borg From Star Trek universe for sure and one of the most advanced and dangerous alien species in science fiction
劇場版見てる時最後はELSガデラーザがラスボスとして立ちはだかると思ってたけどそんな事無かった
これが二期に完成していたらソレスタルビーイングに勝ち目はなかったな。
ガンダムシリーズの中でも飛び抜けて性能壊れてる
デカルトもトランザムバーストによって覚醒したって経緯があるから、2期に完成しててもギリ平気だったな
I know a good number of hard-core Gundam fans didn't like this timeline cause aliens, but they still made it fit the themes of Gundam that being war is bad. And in this case it was a lack of understanding and how to communicate that caused this war.
Well,Alien is also mentioned in gundam seed,the discovery of whale with wing tablet fossil. coordinator comes from that discovery if i not miataken

この時の映画は本当に衝撃的だった。
人類の天敵が現れた時、いかに無力なのか思い知らされた。
だから最後は感動した🥺
エルスが取り込んだ敵の優秀機を模倣しなくてよかった

結局人類がELSの意図を汲み取れなかった結果がこの戦いかぁ。まぁ傍から見たら支配か何かしに来ようとしてる動きだから仕方がないか

True story: one of the writers suggested the ELS concept for the final antagonist after watching terminator, it was after a drinking session they finalised the concept as they could not forward the celestial being and world nations narrative and they were nearing the deadline so they went on with the easiest laziest idea for a boss fight in the whole of anime.
Still cool tho imagine fighting els arios ascalon and els 00 raiser
They turned into a fking transformer

In my school vr game Goalius who part els has optional els throwing knives that once maxed out turn a enemy into a friend

The only Gundam in history who actually fought against alien invaders. Hope will be last, I dropped this nonsense in the first season and never regretted it

Then you're cheating yourself. 00 is one of the best, right next to Turn A.
i get why you would drop it. Gundam is all about the Giant Robots, their pilots and their conflicts, be in a war, or at some political settling.
Putting Aliens kind of goes agaist that formula.
