Yeah..I can't even aim without it. I'm not flexible enough. I practice a lot of dry fire point shooting with a laser with mine, just for the feedback. But when I point shoot targets, I usually don't actually use the laser.
Well done. I love my Shockwaves (multiples) - home and cars. I use the Streamlight TL Racker Shotgun Forend Weapon Light LED, 1,000 Lumens on my home Shockwaves.
Nice realistic drill! The reality of the transition with baggy clothing is a big thing in livefire glad to see it being done. A sling with the shockwave is a big thing for me and I’m glad you’re illustrating that in your video. Can’t stress importance of having the weapon tethered to you especially in a defensive position.
I always try to practice drawing it from long term carry. In other words, if you're going to sling it down to your side and carry it like that for long periods of time---- most likely that's where you'll be drawing from when something goes down. So I always practice drawing from those positions, rather than low ready; since the odds are very unlikely that you would happen to be holding your shotgun at the ready when some bad situation surprises you. I'm not saying it's not valid: for example the "bump in the night' checks-- you will have it at low ready. But you should definitely practice drawing from your long term carry; even if it's slug to your back, etc. I always try to develop a way to draw it asap from the worst carry positions, because odds are you'll be unlucky and have it in the worst position when the sh^t actually does go down. Because Murphy said so
Can you comment on optic height please? In one of your earlier Shockwave videos you were running a RMR type optic which was mounted low on a ScalerWorks mount. Now I see you running a 1X optic on a short rail section. Which seems to look much higher than the RMR. Why the change? -Very much appreciate the Shockwave running wisdom.
Hello, I know this comment is coming a while after you posted the question, but I might have an answer. In one of his videos, I remember hearing him mention that the increased height of an optic makes it easier to perform the clinch grip necessary for running a Shockwave in the DCON configuration. I’ve noticed this in my own practice with the Shockwave. If I point my Shockwave using the clinch grip with either a lower optic or simply just the bead, I find that the most comfortable, tight-knit clinching grip naturally leads the gun to sit lower. This means that while the gun is still pointing in the right direction, the bead or short sight sits maybe an inch or so below my eye. If I were to either raise the gun up to aim through those short sights, or lower my head down in order to aim, the clinch grip grows looser in addition to becoming increasingly fatiguing as it isn’t as natural of a shooting position. Rather than sacrifice comfort for accuracy or vice-versa, the raised optic allows you to maintain a very clinched, recoil-absorbent form while still having a way to aim accurately. While I’ve spent most of my time shooting with just the bead, having a raised sight on the Shockwave is just another little addition that makes this particular shooting system run a little easier, and every little bit helps. Finally, the Primary Arms SLX 1x mirco prism he’s running couples really well with most types of buckshot, as many types of buckshot loads fall relatively predictably within the reticle. He has a video or two on it where he focuses on this optic in particular and how it pairs with shotguns. Sorry for the essay, but I hope it helps.
Is a sight needed for an almost hip firing shotgun lol. I love mine so much. I like your build in doing the sling, fore grip and laser. Plan to use an ammo side or top saddle. I don’t think I need red dot. But hey you never know
Any decent way you found yet to get a two point sling across your chest with this so it doesn’t get to swing all over? I’d love to wear a shockwave while out working with my chickens so I have something that works on all their predators and all the other pests I don’t want on the farm. I just don’t see the single point working when you’re doing a lot of work without slapping you in the kneecap or the nuts at least 1 time a day.
I was curious why you run the optic so far forward? On this gun the rail is small but on others with a longer rail you still run it as forward as possible. Is there a reason for this or just preference? Thank you for another awesome video!
Because of the way he "cheeks" the grip, with the 12ga recoil, further back the optic would bop him in the noggin. He talks about it in another vid I believe
Lookin' good with that full beard. I'm curious as to why you prefer such a deep carry. In any place that isn't a NPE, I never feel that total concealment is needed.
Much more likely to get in a fist fight/grapple than a gunfight. I don’t want any confrontation to become a gunfight. My shirt has been torn off of me in several fights. Bad guys find poorly concealed guns

I took a defensive shotgun class a few weekends ago with my shockwave. The shotgun cards I have are absolute garbage. Shells kept falling out due to the elastic stretching. The instructor recommended some different velcro cards as seen in a thunder ranch video on the firearm blogs video on thunder ranch. However in the video, Clint himself even says if you leave shells in them, they stretch. That kinda defeats the purpose of it. Do you have any recommendations of a method to keep some shells on the side of the gun? I guess something hard plastic is the only way. I have a magpul stock on mine but I have looked to see if soemone makes a shell holder for that.
I have the same issue with a plastic sidesaddle (4). I had some TalonGrip sheets that I cut to apply to the inside dimension of the cylinders. They hold better but there is still some slipping. Guess the shock in the receiver is pretty hefty !
@@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 I may need to try that goop instead of using TalonGrip material to line the cylinders. They still slide out and yet they are really tight. So much so that shells are difficult to insert/remove (not good if you need ammo access quickly).
So… the 410 shockwave is the same tube length as the 12ga… if the 410 loads are adequate power for you, the 12ga S model runs short shells which are pushing more pellets of any buck size than the 410 loads in the same buckshot and doing it at the same velocity. The short shells have the same recoil as the 410, while bumping the capacity of the shockwave to 8+1 instead of the 6+1 of the 410 loaded with 2 1/2” shells. The majority of defense ammo in 410 is loaded in a 3” shell, so if you’re comparing that, the capacity is strongly in favor of the 12ga. The defense ammo in 410 is more expensive than flite control AND federal Shorty #4 buck. …and training ammo for the 12ga is half the cost.
