How come when I’m behind someone I get a shit tone of understeer is it normal or is it my setup

Its a few reasons combined. Firstly the plastics do provide some downforce, a bit like a very basic splitter on a car, so dirty air is a bit of a thing. Secondly the lower pressure of the dirty air which causes the slipstream effect also reduces drag on braking and turn in (everywhere on the track), so following can cause you to brake too late and turn in with too much speed. If your setup is front limited then the understeer can be a result of this overdriving.

This is sick ! I'm just getting into go karting, and have seen the word "slip stream" everywhere. What does it mean ?

Basically driving behind someone close enough so you are avoiding all the air hitting you from the front since the guy in front blocks it all.

Do Sim racing or rental karts before you even think about a pro kart. I recommend you find a person like one of your parents if they are knowledgeable in racing or a team that is willing to set up your kart. This sport is expensive and requires lots of time and physical gym training. If you can and you really wanna be into the sport, I recommend you pick up a book called “Going Faster” by Skip Barber. I’ve read it at least three times at this point and every time I read it I pick up something new.

Your acceleration will be better all throughout the straight until you hit your rev limiter since you are geared shorter than the cart in front. This is not a good demonstration / example of slip stream being very powerful. 👎
