Diana's voice is much better than Frank Sinatra's, she has a deep voice, it involves the lungs and the entire speech apparatus, at the same time Sinatra had a clamped voice with a small range, exceeding which Frank broke into a scream and did not sing. Therefore, Sinatra once defiantly danced to Diana during her solo.

What is amazing about this video is that this is one continuous shot from a 300 pound RCA TK-41 color camera. Those things were monstrous and had to be mounted on a crane! Notice how the camera "floats" through the entire number. Given that she had a wireless mic to boot, this had to be sometime in the mid-60's pretty high-tech for the time.

+Ericjc49 Greetings Eric, The USA started color transmission in 1952-53 but because not everyone had a color TV the Television Producers at that time right through to 1965 kept filming a lot of TV shows in monochrome (Black & White) to save on production costs. There was a TV Industry survey in early 1965 and there was an agreement to switch all Television productions to color by mid 1965-66 Season. Also, my parents were married in 1948 and the womens' hairstyles were very different during the 1940's and certainly NO color in 1948, possibly production still photographs for publicity but not in transmission. Here in Australia for February we ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY HOT SUMMER !! thankfully THIS library IS FULLY air-conditioned !! "Have Faith In God"(MARK 11:22)

Drew is correct on the general era of this variety show. But Dinah did actually record it in 1947, and it was a featured song in the 1948 movie "The Paleface," starring Bob Hope, Jane Russell, and Roy Rogers. When I was just a boy, way back in the 60's, I used to make fun of her name and call her "Dinosaur." But Dinah was a real rare gem of charm, beauty, elegance, and an exquisite voice! Still is, through the wonderful means of archival preservation!

I came searching for this song. The volunteer singing group I am in , who sing in aged care homes , have this song in their repertoire . I’ve been winging it for a few years , but I always stumble a bit . So I thought it was about time that I got it right ! I love these old songs . Fun to sing and play along with on my ukulele . They transport me to another era .
The residents , at the homes we go to , absolutely love us singing the old time tunes for them . ❤️😊

My wife is named Dinah. When people ask her name and she says it 8 out of 10 do not repeat Dinah. They say donna dana and for sure can not spell it. I say Dinah Shore AND THEY SAY WHO? HOW SOON THEY FORGET.

She's using an early wireless microphone. Pretty cool for its time. One frequency off and it would have probably picked up Burbank police department calls ...

I’m sorry, but the best live performance of this song was given by Dr. Frasier Crane on PBS, but sadly nobody watched it.

Want to do an upgrade to 640x480p? The black side margin should be cropped out. Can you identify the TV show? Maybe filmed in color but broadcast in B&W. (Let me know if you do)

It's the Dinah Shore Chevy Show which debuted in 1956 and started filming on color videotape in late '58/early '59. This episode is around '60-'61. Dinah Shore's NBC variety show ended in 1963. It was broadcast IN LIVING COLOR as NBC famously declared though few had the expensive color sets but parent company RCA heavily promoted color shows to get people to buy them.
