Lmao I’m dying this video is insane no hate but ur completely missing the point. I have acne and seeing other girls still appreciate makes me feels so much better about it. I have tried lots of products, and I’m still on my way to making my skin clear.
I think you’re completely missing the point of “acne positivity”. No one truly believes acne is aesthetically pleasing. And that’s fine....cause that’s not the point acne positive influencers or individuals are attempting to get across. You claim to understand the self-esteem issues that surround those with acne, but you fail to understand why we should (instead of stigmatize acne even further) allow it to be normal in the way so many other things are? It’s something completely out of a lot of people’s control, and like you said a normal part of most people’s lives. It’s not the ideal aesthetic that people want, but it is still at its roots a superficial and shallow part of someone. Would you also say that stretch marks should be covered up? Almost everyone has them, but just like acne they’re stigmatized and frowned upon. Idk...weird and unnecessary take in my opinion.
Hey, I get where you're coming from, but Imo these influencers aren't promoting it as much as they're trying to show that it's not something you should feel ashamed of. Acne is seen in a negative light and they want it to be seen as more neutral. It's kind of similar the body positivity movement- a lot of overweight people do need to lose weight to be healthy, but the shame and bullying they get for it while they work on losing weight can easily cause emotional damage that can take years of therapy to recover from. And after being shamed and bullied for things like that, even after you look more conventionally attractive, you (or at least I and some of my friends have agreed) feel so much more self worth tied to a completely superficial part of yourself. So acne positivity isn't necessarily saying you can't treat your acne, it's just saying acne isn't a super big deal/something that defines you. They're trying to influence others to see it as more normal SO that people don't stare at it when they see it. Of course that's a long way from where we are but I feel like it does help make acne not seem like this crazy, unusual thing you should be alienated or shamed for. Shame and bullying can be so destructive to your mental and physical health, and they want to take shame out of the equation of why someone would want to get rid of acne. So I feel like the point is it's fine to treat it but you shouldn't feel bullied into doing so, but do it for yourself/to stop the physical pain aspect of acne.
Im not the type of person to comment but damn…it’s revolting to see how you didn’t get it even when you’re claiming to understand. Acne positivity is not about stopping your skincare routine and posting your skin without makeup on and just saying « it’s beautiful ». Acne positivity is about knowing there is a problem inside that you’re trying to resolve, but during the process accepting your skin, loving yourself and if people are posting their skin it’s because we need to break certain belief. It’s about resolving a problem that acne cause to us : lack of self confidence. People who are doing that are trying to resolve self esteem problem while your just trying to fix skin issues. But when there is no more skin issues, you (the type of person who think like you) will still have confidence issues about other things in your life while acne positivity people won’t.
Some people try everything under the sun and moon for their skin and it doesn't work because it could be hormonal or genetic. And some people wear makeup because they want to not just to hide insecurities. Did she ever say she was enjoying having acne? No, I don't think so. She's promoting body positivity in the fact that people aren't perfect. She's not celebrating her skin, she is celebrating her being comfortable in her skin. People are super judgemental and you are being super insensitive. Get off your pedestal, man. The way I see it is that in my case I could fix all my physical problems in my life and I would still feel unsatisfied. Some people can be overweight or have problems with their skin but love who they are inside. That's what I think those types of accounts are trying to achieve.
I was gonna write a long comment on how offensive your video is, and how much you missed the point on this, but then I saw all the other comments doing that already. So I’m glad and don’t feel alone with my opinion. Acne takes strength. People need hope, they need the feeling of not being alone.
Yes! The people that have never had it before give advice when it wasnt even asked for... smfh... what worked for me was aloe vera gel, vitamin A cream, sunscreen specifically for acne or sensitive skin, drinking green juice powder, eating a cup of raw spinach a day, and drinking half to a full gallon of water a day.
This guy seems to have major insecurities about himself (i.e HOCD, this video). Being able to accept and be comfortable with one’s own body and thoughts is a part of happy living. Seems very uninformed and judgemental
I personally can’t understand how someone can be ‘obsessed’ with smthg, and not act on it, Lmao. maybe I’m just too much of a hedonist but if I’m obsessing I’m sure af gonna go to town with it
@@damonmelendez856 I think it comes down to homophobia and being conditioned to fear/hate homosexuality and by extension their own homoerotic thoughts. All males have homoerotic thoughts occasionally, some as small as acknowledging when another guy is good looking, and sometimes more significant like being impressed by the size of the guy next to him in the locker room. Even when watching porn, most dudes prefer a scene with a huge dong instead of a small weenie doing the penetration. A regular, healthy, secure heterosexual male will acknowledge, and process these thoughts and simply move on with their day. From what I’ve read about HOCD, the symptoms sound more like a phobia rather than OCD. HOCD is homophobia attempting to be described as a mental disorder. If it were related to OCD, these guys would be knocking on wood, or cleaning their bathrooms every time the thought of a dick appeared in their head.

Completely agree. This video was garbage. Of course no one wants acne but why have a miserable life when you can think positively?
AGREE!!!! ❤ the vid is kinda insensitive.
I agree❤️
Agreed. It's like he's saying, I'm persecuted for having this, so let's persecute this some more. That's the definition of ass-backward thinking.
Yes I agree too! This video is trash
…you completely missed the point. this is insensitive.
