This is basically my setup for a wizard solo run, particularly the items. Its super good. Only difference is that I stop at evocation 10 and take two levels tempest cleric. This way, if I'll need to go more wide than tall with damage, I go lightning on Markoheshkir and channel divinity a chain lightning on wet targets for ~180 damage on four targets. Amulet of the devout gives me two charges per short rest, and conveniently, that's how many free lightning spells I get per short rest off the staff. Also, the level 1 cleric spells are super good.
Evocation Wizard 10 / Tempest Cleric 2 was also my setup for my Gale origin playthrough. I used a lot of the gear here but had some different stuff because I didn’t want to abuse bugged mechanics with magic missile too much. Callous glow ring, bolstering boots, and markoheshkir lightning charges + empowered evocation still made it really strong though. I used some more + DC items like Hood of the Weave and Devout Amulet to focus more on lightning spells + wet.
Raphael is lvl 16 now since September 22nd and he is much stronger, you really need to start new playthrough. Old saves don't have the updates for this boss encounter.
Ummm… max level is 12 .. lol. What are you talking about ? And like old save no effect ? Its constantly updated , switch to easy then back to tactical to update stats and health. I played patch 3 steam latest build , Raphael is 12 lvl 666hp. Are using mods ?
@@Pentax67 Read the patch notes from Sept 22. Raphael's level has been increased to lvl 16 amongst other buffs to him. He is now stronger. On a playthrough made before the patch #3 for whatever reason he is still lvl 12 without the changes. I also didn't know about this until I did new speedrun playthrough to act 3 just to see if it's real or not. And it is.
My first Fight with him i kept blessing me party and focused on other buffs before and during fight. He slaughtered me with punish devine and then transformed and i was done. 2nd fight i kept using blizzard and other ice spells. He kept tripping on the ice and dedtroyed him while he was prone the whole time
I am playign this game wroung. I just BEARLY got out of there with my own tail stuck up my ass. Then again I never played a game like this before. Being a pryomancer is a poor choice late game because alot of the eminies have fire resistance.
Great preparation and great video I think Shriek Aura and missile-type spells interaction is actually bugged..I mean each missile should deal an additional d4 thunder damage per missile, but we can see some 40/50 thunder damage per missile!! I was testing this interaction yesterday seemed to me like each d4 thunder triggers all others modifiers again (Spellmight, Empowered Evocation etc..) but in some case the damage calculation seems completely wrong😆
@@ejf3560 i am not sure I would call Perilous Stakes an exploit or a bug. The rules are obvious and well set. It is just a creative way of use to drop it on an enemy. The other two are straight up bugs.

I didn't get 2 things: 1)Do arcane charges add proficiency bonus to damage by themselves or something else is needed? 2)why did you heal cambions with water elementals?
1) Enemies first need to be engaged in melee range (often indicated by the "Threatened" condition) before the bonus could apply to your spells damage. It can be done by you or allies when playing with a party. ┖ Additionally, you need to have your melee loadout out when casting spells, if you toggle your character to have their Ranged weapon out instead, the bonus won't apply, even if the enemies are engaged in melee by your allies. 2) I was looking for an opportunity for Chain Lightning as the Water summon healing aoe apply Wet to all surrounding creatures, but alas one Cambion manage to pass their turn first, removing it Wet condition so it was better for me to just stick to Magic Missiles.
The shriek debuff from PhalarAluve adds any bonus damage to it so in this builds case it's getting 1d8 from spellmight gloves, 6 from the level 10 evoker ability, 4 from the boots ability (after dashing and while threatend you add your prof bonus to damage) as well as plus 3 from the Daggers ability and finally 1 from the thunder ring. So all-in-all it's 1d4 plus 1d8 plus 14 then that all gets doubled from illithid vulnerability.
It’s a scroll called Curriculum of Strategy: Artistry of War. You find it in a semi-secret area of Sorcerous Sundries. “Summon the apparitions of 6 master strategists. Each apparition strikes a target of your choosing, dealing 2d6 + 6Damage TypesForce damage (for a total of 12d6 + 36Damage TypesForce).” I just used mine on the last boss, but it wasn’t buffed to hell and back like this baller’s was. Still does great damage vanilla.

Even so, unless you're solo just have a melee party member carry it and use it.

The high numbers are because perilous stakes and artistry of war. Try that out and you’ll see
